Yeah, great artwork. For me the best news from the weekender is BL starting the lit on moving legions towards Terra finally in this last Gauntlet arc. It's finally here. Not the end though. But if we get that Emperor model befor all the Primarchs or even demon Primarchs that might be a little weird.

'Angels of Caliban' is confirmed to be coming soon. The release order for the next few books is:

34: Pharos by Guy Haley (later this month)
35: Eye of Terra
36: The Path of Heaven by Chris Wraight (April)
37: The Silent War
38: Angels of Caliban by Gav Thorpe

Other future titles were hinted, including the novel 'Praetorian of Dorn' by John French, and the Prospero-linked audio drama 'The Thirteenth Wolf' by Gav Thorpe.

Finally, there is a prequel audio drama for 'Pharos' coming later this month, to tie in with the novel. For anyone who has read the eBook already, this story will explain where Lion El'Jonson is, and why the Scouts were forbidden to talk about what they saw under Mount Pharos.

So if you include Praetorian of Dorn and Crimson King, that gives us 40 numbered novels in the series.

We know ADB's working on Master of Mankind and Nick Kyme's said he's going to be a third Salamanders novel to tie off their internal trilogy, so that's 42.

The only two I've not seen any mention of where the oft rumoured Nightfall which was meant to be a Night Lords book and the untitled Death Guard one which I assume would show their corruption. If those two did come off we'd be on 44 books before the siege of Terra.

I've always thought they'd go for 50 novels all in but I can't see them doing the Siege in just 6 books.

"We are the Red Sorcerers of Prospero, damned in the eyes of our fellows, and this is to be how our story ends, in betrayal and bloodshed. No...you may find it nobler to suffer your fate, but I will take arms against it."

At this rate I can see it end around 2020, they'll just fill in the gaps with quick reads, novella's and audio dramas.

I could see a 6 book siege actually.
1 Navy book about the assault on the solar system
2 Mechanicum book on Mars as Horus arrives
3 The Landing and pilliaging of Terra
4 Counterattack- White Scars taking the spaceport and BA holding the gates
5 Walls fall- Iron Warriors and Legio Mortis break the walls, news of Ultramarines et.al. en route as end
6Confrontation- Teleport attack, confrontation with Horus, Emperor interred on Golden Throne.

Then move on to Scouring to follow up on all the loose ends.

Looky Likey

I mentioned on a previous page that in War without end Laurie G. in his wrap up puts it at about 50 books in the HH series. Obviously not all books have an official number so he's excluding all the small stuff.

Even when the series has wrapped up the Siege they'll still set stuff during the HH, its a fantastic setting, why scrap it? There are a load of stories still to be told in that setting and that can still be told.

At the HH Weekender they stated that BL and FW are moving straight onto the Scouring once they finish the Siege, with the Unification stuff to come much later.

I think with what we know now, once Master of Mankind comes out it will make this all feel a bit "more real" in shifting the perspective of the narrative with eyes toward the eventual end (of this story). I'm excited either way and glad to hear what BL has learned from doing this massively successful series will apply to The Scouring as the next project. Don't know if they will do like TBA with a definitive release and conclusion schedule or if the HH and future period series will leave openings for self-contained short stories. Hell, I love seeing the novels which take place not too far after the HH.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

50 numbered books and not one for the Iron Hands, the best they get is a second-fiddle appearance in the book of their most hated enemies(which itself includes a massive feth you to fans by retconning Ferrus' fate from "MIA" like Vulkan to "lol trophy skull for Horus").

Man, I wonder what it's like to be a fan of a Legion/Chapter the company who own the IP aren't determined to repeatedly gak on...

Rather depressingly I was again reminded of Penitent and how overdue it is at this point.

It was supposed to come out November last year, but current word on the street is that it won't be happening any time soon now. Ffffffffffff-

Read the Emperor Expects, book 3 of this series. Gotta say I was impressed.

Spoiler:

-Lots of naval combat
-Dynamic human characters
-High Lords scheming
-Inquisition scheming
-Look at the daily life of Terra
-Little space marines, when they do sparingly appear it's to discuss interesting stuff like the Fists successors going back to a legion
-Great cliffhanger ending

The quality of the series has increased with this

These are pretty good, far better than the crappy 'painting pots' GW proper released last year. I also appreciate the tongue-in-cheek slogans on many of the designs too, for me, that is very 40k

If you recall there was some trouble for BL a wee while back with regards to a book they were going to release featuring the dark Hunters chapter of marines

Sounds like Sherrilyn Kenyon is just a greedy, pugnacious person to be honest. I don't know how she won the court case against the Black Library guy, other than him deciding it just wasn't worth fighting, because it seems like a ludicrous plagiarism claim.

Hmm... maybe I should amend that to an avid drinker of builder's tea. The mug should be chipped for the full effect

via The First Expedition, just to clarify the HH books and where is sold what

GW stores don't have room to stock the full HH range anymore. There's simply not enough space on the shelves. Therefore, they will only keep the newest releases in hardback in stock, and any significant reprints (like, the opening trilogy for example).

The retail division (which is NOTHING to do with BL, so please don't direct your complaints to me, because I can't do anything) has therefore decided that they will not stock HH paperbacks in GW stores anymore.

However, all novels in all formats will always be available direct from BL, as long as there is stock in the warehouses, and the book trade will carry all paperback versions (since they don't get the hardbacks).

The only GW store that will carry both formats is the BL store at Warhammer World, because BL can actually control that. That will be cold comfort to people outside the UK, but that's the best I can offer for now. rolleyes.gif

So yes, I wasn't up to speed on what Retail had decided to stock. My advice? Start collecting the hardbacks, or eBooks... or mail order the paperbacks, or pick them up from your local book shop/Amazon.

I suspect a lot of people outside the UK will be switching to ebooks, BL just won't see much money as a result.

I don't get them, it's like they actually want to discourage people from buying their stuff.

The Dark Between the Stars

A Horus Heresy audio drama

Young Oberdeii and Tebecai, Scouts of the Ultramarines 199th Company, descend into the depths beneath Mount Pharos in search of a dark truth... though it may haunt them for all time.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
It's the prequel to the novel Pharos, and within this audio you'll get an insight into one of the heroes of that book, as well as a glimpse at the deepest (and we do mean 'deepest'...) secrets of the mighty Pharos itself.

MP3:£6.99 Add to Basket
THE STORY
The Pharos stands as a beacon of light in the darkness, a whisper of hope in the silent void, a bastion of defiance in the face of treachery. Without it there could be no Imperium Secundus – why, then, do the masters of Ultramar know so little about its operation, or the dangers it could present? Young Oberdeii and Tebecai, Scouts of the 199th Company, descend into the depths beneath Mount Pharos in search of the truth... though it may haunt them for all time.

By Mr Goulding -- his Mortarion audio was good I thought. Worked very well.
