Ya, I read the book. I even think I broke the news to Alpharius further back in this thread.

I quite liked it. I was looking for a more thorough critique of it.

Maybe... but that slimy magos infected it with warp taint, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is effectively useless unless you want an army of horrors. I think he had one over Omegon there.

Honestly I'd just like them to format the entire first half of the heresy (whatever they decide that is) into a single "book" where everything is in the proper reading order ala The Wheel of Time series ebook that came out. That way I can just read through in the proper order with the proper shorts in the right spots. And then do the same with the second half. Hell, go quarters. I'd pay a decent amount for that honestly and most people probably would too. Like a comic compendium.

Not really. It's fine in that order, but it does jump around a bit that way.

That's quite something indeed.

Picked up the Jes Goodwin eldar sketchbook yesterday -- early Xmas present or something

It's a nice flick through but it is by no means essential, if you follow me.

It looks lovely though, I see they are on eBay for £98... now sure if I can chance getting one at my local GWs 'birthday' (bit of a stupid way to sell the books imo) or take the plunge and just eBay one.

The key difference is SW has a much, much larger fanbase than 40k, so it doesn't come off as ridiculous

Maybe a smaller fan base but based on this the 40k crew is a lot more classy! That thing looks like it came from pound land!

This one might...
The hilariously titled Untitled tie-in novel (April 2017 in paperback – watch out for a new boxed game/edition of 40k in 2017 perhaps?).

There are some paperback versions of some of the current hardback ones coming out.

I'm quite happy about that.

There's been AoS books I've been interested in reading but couldn't quite justify with the higher hardback cost.

'Murica! (again)

In my recent interview with Guy which will post on the 19th he shared more about his Primarch Perturabo book so I'm glad this is up so I can share it's our first of the origin stories of those HH Primarch series books which will do that. Obviously they all cover different stages which I like better anyway.

Saw this pop up just now: http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/children-of-sicarus.html

Children of Sicarus

A Horus Heresy audio drama

Kor Phaeron of the Word Bearers and his devoted followers adjust to life on the daemon world of Sicarus. Threatened by enemies and surrounded by terrors, will they survive to exact revenge on the Imperium?

READ IT BECAUSE
It's the continuation of one of the hanging threads from the graphic novel Macragge's Honour and fills in some of the gaps regarding Kor Phaeron.

THE STORY
After the destruction of the Infidus Imperator, Kor Phaeron of the Word Bearers brought his followers to supposed safety in the Eye of Terror. However, their newly adopted home, the daemon world Sicarus, is far from the sanctuary they imagined – the twisted hordes of the Kairic Adept Larazzar seek to crush these newcomers and all who would ally with them. Only in the ancient legends of Sicarus can their salvation be found, but is Kor Phaeron the one to lead them to it?

Written by Anthony Reynolds. Running time 39 minutes. Performed by Gareth Armstrong, John Banks, Tim Bentinck, Steve Conlin, Toby Longworth and Penelope Rawlins.

I dunno, he may actually die this time! Or does he appear in some 40k fluff to ruin all my hopes?

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Hardly surprising though, the biggest groups of AoS players I've seen are also-40K'ers and new players, so adding lots of knowing-wink ties via the Chaos stuff to try and lead them from one to the other is perfectly sensible from a sales perspective.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

It's in a very roundabout way the conclusion (maybe?) to an arc from Know No Fear, that was picked up again in the comic Macragge's Honour. Maybe all those characters shown off in the Dramatis Personae bit of the comic, who showed up for only one or two frames, without any dialogue and direct contribution to the story will have something to do now.
