I think I heard the scythes book relates to the heresy and tidies up (to some extent) the Pharos / imperium secundus thing.
April pre releases are out. I'm madly in love with the new look for the limited editions. Fan flipping tastic. BL I could lick your face.

It's filler, but somewhat interesting filler if you've always wanted to know what happens to all those Tech-Heretics and their toys...
Also, one of the characters -the Iron Warrior peeping from behind the main character on the cover- is named after a James Bond villain. I'm going to let you guess how his character evolves throughout the story
Why are people referring these novels to "fillers?" Is it a short story or something?

A lot of these have no real bearing or impact on the overall story, making them for me at least, less high up on the "to read" list.

Oh, that AoS novel is definitely on my to get list.
Also, little bit shocked to see Bloodbowl actually has lore.
I never got into it so that surprised me.

ThIs is pretty pathetic but in truth the only reason i bought 4 of them is because they look pretty on the shelf. Which they do, just remember if your going to open them and actually read them do it after you turn your brain off.
Haven't read the other three of those yet but I'm enjoying Hammers of Sigmar.
I get what you mean by to much focus on fighting, though. At least that one's justified in that they're basically in Khorne land, not much else to do.
Also, can I just say thank you to Reds8n for keeping this thread so well updated? Great job!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 12
12 Gallery Prints for the price of 6
Celebrate the final day of Christmas with an amazing deal on a collection of top Gallery Prints, including iconic art of legends of the Space Marines, and several of Neil Roberts' finest Horus Heresy pieces.
THE COVERS
Arjac Rockfist, Anvil of Fenris (Hardy Fowler): A piece of art worthy of hanging in the Fang itself, this print depicts Arjac Rockfist, the Anvil of Fenris, Logan Grimnar's own champion. Set against a backdrop of snow (well, it is Fenris), Arjac wields his hammer and shield in defence of the Fang, a snarl on his face... Vlka Fenryka!
Betrayal at Calth (Neil Roberts): A classic confrontation between Ultramarines and Word Bearers in the caverns of Calth, this piece is perfect for fans of either Legion.
Blades of Damocles (Pedro Nunez): A sweeping vista of battle sees squadrons of Ultramarines aircraft, supported by Space Marines, sweep through a city as the forces of the Fire Caste try to fight them off. It sets the scene for the battle of Dal'yth perfectly...
Call of Archaon (Antonio Lius): This epic print showcases one of the Varanguard, the elite warriors dedicated to the service of Archaon Everchosen. Marching at the fore of a mighty army, this deadly Chaos champion prepares to bring ruin to the Mortal Realms.
Corax: Soulforge (Neil Roberts): Corax, wings wide and claws crackling with energy, descends on traitor tech-priests of the Dark Mechanicum in an action-packed piece.
Cybernetica (Neil Roberts): Traitors and Loyalists alike stand firm in the face of the Dark Mechanicum... This cover takes us back to the fall of Mars, the opening scenes of the story it depicts, as a group of trainee Techmarines face betrayal... and lots of skitarii.
Deathwatch Ignition (Raymond Swanland): The heroes of the Deathwatch – including the iconic Ultramarines Chaplain Cassius in his younger (pre-horrific scarring) days battle the insidious power of a Genestealer Cult.
Grey Talon (Neil Roberts): A savage, katana-wielding warrior of the White Scars with some nifty face paint (or perhaps an extremely impressive tattoo) leads the charge against the Sons of Horus in a visceral, blood-soaked piece from Neil Roberts.
Mephiston, Lord of Death (Hardy Fowler): Even amongst the dark-cursed Blood Angels, Mephiston is a figure of fear and awe. This image depicts the Lord of Death amidst the fury of battle, his crimson-and-silver armour contrasting with his pale skin, wild hair and the glow of psychic power in his eyes.
Ravenlord (Neil Roberts): Prison break! The primarch Corax and his black-armoured warriors break into a dangerous complex... but what awaits them? The red lighting in this piece reflects the urgency present in the image as the Raven Guard hurry to complete their mission.
Red-Marked (Neil Roberts): Aeonid Thiel of the Ultramarines and his fellow red-helmeted warriors battle traitors in another stunning piece of art from the Horus Heresy.
The Seventh Serpent (Neil Roberts): A dizzying, vertiginous drop frames a vicious battle between the Alpha Legion and their foes in this Horus Heresy art.

.awwww shucks.
Almost makes up for the beatings the other MODs inflict if I don't keep it up to date.
Those broomsticks are hard on the knees....
I think the above AoS book is more what we should be seeing from now on .
At the weekender they were very enthusiastic about what's coming -- a given I know -- and said how they were keen to show both more personal stories and also show that the battles are not, to quote, being fought "over or in a burnt out car pack".

I've bought all of the Primarch ones so far and I intend to get the set. Mostly as I know there can be no more than 20 books at the extreme outside, it'll not be like the endless HH limited edition books. As it also has such a limited run I'm pretty confident they'll all match rather than being a hodge podge of different designs. I'm thinking that the entire set of limited editions would be worth more than the books separately.
Oh, and they cover the Primarchs, as a big SM fan boy they would always be essential reading for me. Having said that I've read both the Guilliman and Russ books, they are ok but far from the best books BL has put out about the HH, I think they would have been better served covering each Primarch's origin story rather than some random event that happened to them.
In the past I've bought the limited edition Visions of Heresy reprint and Macragge's Honor.

They is llllooooovvveeely. I'm a little fixated with the limited eds. Some are better than others but it's all down to personal preference. My favourite so far is warden of the blade. I know it's been a popular look but my least favourite was Fabius Bile, I thought it too cartoonish. They seem to be changing the way they do limited eds if you look at the coming my soon. Making them more difficult uniform in design which gets a massive thumbs up from me.
I have a nice room for my books and this collection look goes well with them.

I'm old fashioned in that I buy books to read them, not so they look pretty on my shelves, so for me no they're not worth it and are just yet another annoying stage BL insist I wait through before they'll sell me a normal bloody book.

So frigging annoying, I bought Meduson from Warhammer World when it first came out and got the standard release of Seventh Serpent and now they're publishing this as a numbered novel with the one short story they added to the re-release of Meduson in there.
Really hacked me off this release, I've bought all the novels and novellas and this being a numbered one means there's going to be a gap now in the series.

Sorry, no sympathy. If you're willing to fork over ridiculous money for an endless procession of hardbacks and mini-micro-novellettes that's your choice, but I don't see why that should prevent BL offering the rest of us that content months or years later in a more reasonable format.

Wasn't looking for sympathy, was merely venting but cracking that you got in there to not offer any
My issue is purely in them making it part of the numbered series - if they just published outside of the numbered series I'd have no issue at all with it.
The release of Meduson that they did recently with the audio included seemed to imply that was going to be the mass release for people who couldn't get to Warhammer World, bundling the lot of it into one of the numbered releases is a poor move.
Edit - actually just saw they marketed the Meduson re-release as an "ultimate edition" which is a new one on me.
