I can see some potential for the Emperor's Children helmets. they remind me very much of the HH cover art for some of the Dark Angels books (Minus the topknot)

Well there you go. Not so keen on the top handle coming off the side, but otherwise he's nice.

He's a bit awkwardly posed, might have looked better with the arms and scythe resting against his thigh. The primarchs have been fantastic so far, by and large, think this is probably the worst of them.

Think I would probably go for the Kabuki version..

I agree with you from an aesthetics point of view, although real scythes have that handle, so even if he looks a bit weird, at least he is an efficient reaper

Bear in mind we're only looking at the model from one perspective. I like it, and will be buying him to lead my pre-heresy force.

That looks pretty terrible, in my honest opinion.

I mean don't get me wrong, from a sculpting perspective they did a good job. Just, the pose and overall design, from his head to his weapon to his armor, seems really "meh" to me.

How do you even use the scythe holding it like that?

How a scythe is meant to be used, in big sweeping arcs. Real scythes are like that, it makes the scythe more efficient to use. Scythes have never been particularly effective weapons, because they are only really good for lopping off people's legs in big slow arcs.

They did an excellent job sculpting a model using a scythes exactly like it is supposed to be used.

Doesn't make it a smart weapon, but it's accurate...

But you can barely swing it in a large arc while holding it like that. You would have to twist your entire body, from your upper torso to your legs, to twist that thing far enough to strike someone with the bladed end.

You can't really fall back on realism there, scythes with that kind kind of appearance were never used as weapons, so it's not even realistic, it's just dumb.

Warscythes were used in a similar manner to naginatas. I've never seen a scythe with that awkward handle branching off of it.

Yeah, it is based of a real working scythe. Warscythes were usually modified to have the blade sticking out vertically from the top of the pole, so then they were like a glaive or naginata. The shape of a scythe just isn't practical for a weapon, because the blade is on the inside of the arc. However, it doesn't really have the grim reaper feel to it if it no longer looks like a scythe, there is the image to uphold here I suppose.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

You're right, but he's not holding it like a Grim Reaper, he's holding it like its a battering ram, lol.

I mean, why bother going for the "iconic", yet unrealistic look, if you're going to mess it up by holding it in a non-iconic stance. If they were going to go that direction and throw realism out the window, they should have just gone all the way and had him hold like the iconic Grim Reaper.
