I didn't see any gun-waving in that video. Also, quite a few guns, particularly handguns, don't have manual safeties.

Walking around with gun in hand is a pretty good way of getting arrested for brandishing. So, you know, if that was going on, it's open and shut.

Many, many, many, many polymer guns don't have thumb safeties. You won't find one on any model of Glock, for example.

I see no evidence of gun waving.

People tend to freak out for no reason when they see a gun. A guy with .45 in a holster can easily turn into a maniac waving an Assault Rifle around with the safety off(as if people could tell if the safety is on or not from more than 5 feet away)

Has anyone even actually made a "ghost gun" that works? I can't imagine something with a 3D printed barrel and firing pin working. The only 3D printed components that I've heard of actually working are things like AR lower receivers and magazines, both of which still require metal components like springs and such.

Or are they just talking about things like Glocks without actually understanding what they are and what their capabilities are?

I'm getting the feeling this is legislation about something that isn't actually a problem.

They talk about 3d printed guns, but the "ghost gun" he is waving around shots ectoplasm bullets for killing spectral zombies. That explains the 3,600 RPM firing rate.

Actually it is the classic press bait and switch. The problem is that anyone can legally build a non NFA firearm. No serial number or records of it being build as long as it is for personal use. Sounds like a tough thing to do, until you buy a incomplete receiver for an AR type rifle. You buy your @80% ar receiver and rent the CNC machine to finish it from a co-op that has all the software and jigs ready to go. Or if your a real man drill it out in your basement. Next, buy all the coolest parts to drop into your new no serial number AR receiver with any number of cool uppers and off you go.

I added some bolding there. You can try to do that, but the ATF is going to come down on that. While a place can rent out a CNC machine, the buyer of the 80% has to provide any programming. Jigs are fine still. The days of going and hitting the start button are over. The ATF has shut down operations that have done that for manufacturing without a license.

In most jurisdictions I am aware of, walking around in public with a gun in your hand will get you arrested regardless of if you have the right to carry openly or concealed. It's called brandishing, and is illegal.

Also, in my anecdotal, limited experience - most people who have concealed carry permits actually sort of dislike the open carry people. Sure, they have the right to do it, but that doesn't mean you should. It's super provocative, and also a little dangerous - if you're on the site of a spree killing or armed robbery or whatever, you're getting it first.

Hotsauce, What in your video indicates it was not in a holster?

The video doesn't really cover that portion of the incident at all.

'People called about someone carrying a gun' does not rule out use of a holster.

Where exactly was the student in question "waving" the gun around? Which crime was be suspected of, given that the officer in question could not provide that? Granted the student is engaging in lawfare and evidently, although perfectly within his legal rights, being a bit of an ar*e to the cop.
All your video shows is the interaction between the officer and the student, it does not show the behaviour that lead to the encounter.

Also, it's a great way to get arrested for, say, disorderly conduct, get driven around until 7:00pm, be thrown in a cell overnight because there are no judges available, and the next morning, have the cops drop the charges. You're free to go, citizen! Hopefully having learned the lesson that when it comes to trolling, the cops are masters.

aside from showing video evidence of people saving their lives with guns, and having stories about even people protecting themselves with guns, and showing the IMMEDIATE flight reaction of crooks (even when they too are armed with guns)

basically the point is, guns do in fact do a lot of good for people.

yes hotsauce, I hate the title as well, but if you watch it, the first few videos/ stories are about people being saved by guns.

thats also why one of the first stories (2nd or 3rd) one in is about a young boy who protected himself and sibling from intruders.

this is why its not really a valid argument to keep repeating things in the news or various anti gun talking points sources, like "look how many people are killed by guns" as proof that right should be infringed when the answer to "look how many people are saved by guns" is a far more numerous and beneficial answer.

from the CDC, the stats for cars and guns are very much comparable
including the other comparable things

All injury deaths

Number of deaths: 180,811
Deaths per 100,000 population: 58.6

All poisoning deaths

Number of deaths: 42,917
Deaths per 100,000 population: 13.9

Motor vehicle traffic deaths

Number of deaths: 33,687

All firearm deaths

Number of deaths: 31,672
Deaths per 100,000 population: 10.3

Also, that gun death statistic includes suicides that were performed with a firearm. Which makes the relevant number way smaller. Suicide really should be its own category.
