Jaw dropping.

Hey everybody! Some new updates - the biggest being painting has begun! Let's get started.







The "book" set roughly. This will be solid and have painted elements added.

I added a putty rest for the book, and attached the right arm of the skeleton.



Wet primer!







Dry primer the next day.



A starting basecoat of yellow.




Some rough coloring. I will do the castle elements separately, and the city streets along with the bases.



I also did a little coloring on the derelict. It is proving pretty awkward to paint!







And dry and back in the house. I will do some hand brushing highlighting and shading over it. Some places are just too hard to get to.

For next update I should have a finished ship, a lot of progress on the throne, and a final look at the egg before painting. Stay tuned!

Hey guys! I have finished the ship to about 75%, so I thought I would go ahead and post the results. Let's get on with it!

First thing was to basecoat the metals, and wash everything one more time.



Once that dried, I picked an area and fleshed it out more. Starting with the head.



Then to the center, adding some blood effects. I am trying to mesh Giger and Kuksi (as well as horror influences in general) so I want to take it in a somewhat abstract direction.




More shading and blending together of colors. Generally pretty happy with the overall tone. I am definitely getting a Silent Hill or (insert random horror movie) vibe and that is my goal.

And then the view of progress back on the box for the evening. I do still have some detail work to do, and I want to brighten it up in some places. I am generally happy enough that if forced to I could call it finished here, and generally I try and get everything to that point with time crunch in mind and then go back in after I step back and see what needs extra attention the most. There is no point in going an extra mile on one part so early, as I could cause another portion to go unfinished with time, and it could end up being detail that you can't even see in the end.

I think I can say without any hyperbole, the derelict has become Kuksi-worthy. Truly.

Hey everyone.

Sorry for the lack of updates. The past two days have been the only decent ones for outside work, so there hasn't been much work on the displays until yesterday. Work inside is all over the place so lots of progress, but not much completely finished to show. However before we get to the egg, I did get the houses done, and have a few pictures to share.





















I also added wheels to the throne!












And a couple of quick WIP pictures from painting the Chaos army.





On to the egg, here is yesterday morning's starting progress. I added some piping over the sides, and smoothed those out.




Then I added details to those, a second stage that would then be cleaned up again in a later step.




I poured concrete into the stem, to make it more bottom heavy and less prone to tipping.






Once that dried, I went ahead and gave the inside a coat of black. Painting the outside will get on it, but it is going to need more than one coat to cover anyway.




Starting out this morning. Nice and sunny, means it will dry in only 3-4 hours instead of overnight. I can get about 3-4 small steps in today instead of just one a day like I normally do.















And that definitely helped me knock out the last 90% of the detail. I will probably come back in tomorrow and do some small stuff, and let it get one last overnight cure before I start painting. Until next time!

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Working on so many projects right now basically as the weather sees fit and as things dry, so lots of progress spread over many means there isnt going to be much to show until they all fall into place at the same time down the road. Right now I have going:

- The throne
- The Fantasy army for the throne
- The egg chair
- The Kuksi guts of the chair
- The Marine army for the egg chair
- A customer's 2000 point admech army
- 4 RoB city tiles for that army, one being a custom city with LEDs and a tablet for a billboard
- A 25 model demo set of Wrath of Kings for CMoN

Phew! This is definitely the most I have bit off right before Adepticon, so let's save as much time as possible and run down the egg progress!






First thing I did was take it outside! Thank goodness for good weather.



Next, I gave it a good priming with a few shades of bone color.




I came in with the airbrush and added some blue tone.



Then some brown.



Then once it dried I started the washing. Really started to come alive with the first stroke.



Fully washed.



And dry!



I then began to add more shading with blues and browns.


And the result so far! I am still debating on some semi gloss. Will worry about that later though.




Now for the tiles - here is the main Kill Team display that will be used at Adepticon. He wanted a city theme for his Admech and LED lights. We also decided on a tablet for a billboard.




All four tiles will then be used for his team army.
