So it's $4 on steam at the moment for Witcher 2 enhanced edition.
Is it worth getting for $4? Is it better/worse then the first one?
I know a lot of people had issues with the controls in the first game. Any resounding issues with this game?
Basically, what's your opinion of Witcher 2: AoK

Combat is completely different from tw1.
Combat is pretty simple in witcher 2. Basically you just spam mb1 and space bar.
Last time played tw2 it was with the improved combat mod (from one of the devs) and it was pretty fun.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

I just bought it, nearly immediately after I saw it on sale. Downloading now (22 hours 12 minutes).
Should be done in a bit.

Alright. That's good enough for me.
Thanks guys. Automatically Appended Next Post: Steam is bogus. Downloads gonna take many hours and I can't play anything on Steam without pausing the download. How do they expect me to survive 5+ hours without Counter Strike?
How is it, in this day and age, you can't play and download at the same time. Seriously people I ask you?

I do not recommend the game, not even for $4. The promise of boobs isn't enough to make me wade through the combat, which I absolutely hated. My favourite character died in the prologue, and I couldn't be arsed grinding far enough to find another.
If the guy who made that Improved Combat mod stripped out all the crap and released a ~10 megabyte mod that just fixed the combat, I'd be interested in trying again. Until that happens, feth no.

While not the second, the first is also on sale for $2. It looks promising, and has good reviews. Should I just buy both?

Witcher 2 is one of my favourite RPG's choices actually matter and it deals with adult themes like racism and war. It also often makes you decide between different shades of grey and the impact of your choices are not always apparent until hours after you have made them.
The first game has very ropey combat but is certainly worth playing through for the story. Especially for only $2

I'm not quite sure what/who you're talking about. Unless I missed something vital in the prologue.

I really enjoyed the 1st Witcher. I'd certainly recommend it. For $2 you can hardly go wrong.
Things I'm liking about W2.
- The Intimidate/Jedi mind trick feature in conversations. Pretty nifty. Garners some amusing responses.
- I liked the inventory system better in the 1st game, but I can see that AoK inventory system is actually a better and more useful system. So we'll chalk this one up to "like" column.
- The sneaking through the dungeon knocking out guards. That was fun. Hope there's more of it.
Things I don't like.
- I'm not enjoying the combat system as much as the 1st game. I'm finding the whole parry/riposte/dodge kind of annoying. I much preferred the strong/quick/group style click to attack combat method.
- The skill tree. Don't like the new format one damn bit. Hugely prefer the 1st games skill tree over the 2nds.
- I feel they've greatly confused the whole meditating/potion taking/alchemy portion of the game.
- The boxing mini-game. Why they changed the boxing from straight up click to punch/defend to the button combo travesty it is is a mystery to me.
I'm up to Flotsom at the moment and just started going after the Kayran. So far, despite the negatives, I'm enjoying the game quite a lot.
