Poison only affects the To Wound roll. All other effects are as normal for the model/weapon.

Sorry for adding to this, but I think it will help the OP. The To Wound roll for Poisoned, (4+) by default is only used if your Strength isn't greater than the target's Toughness. If you have a S6 for instance, even though you have a Poisoned(4+) weapon, you still would a T4 Marine on a 2+. That is why most ballistic Poisoned weapons have S1 to S3. In CC, use the best roll.

This is incorrect. If the strength is equal or greater than the target's toughness, you get to re-roll to wound, but it remains at the fixed number.

Actually, the rule says that it always wounds on a fixed number, unless a lower result would be required * BRB pg 40 Automatically Appended Next Post: Then it adds in about the re-roll.

So giving MCs poisoned is great, it's basically a reroll to wound.
In fact, Poisoned is great on *everyone.* If you've got low strength, you suddenly have a good chance of wounding. If you have high strength, you have an even better chance of wounding.

That was the rule in fifth, it has since changed.
