What it says in the title and poll, what is your favorite army you don't play, tell me why in the comments, be they fun to play against, have good fluff, or cool models.

Imperial Guard

Mordian Iron Guard specifically. Always loved the look of a bunch of guys fighting in their dress blues.

I am trying to correct that now. I have 1 squad and a couple heavy weapon teams. Only 100 guardsmen to go!!

Eldar!

I have been wanting to start Saim Hann for a long time, but those jetbike models are just sooooooo old.

Orks for me. I have *swaths* of an Ork army still on sprues (or in blisters. Hello, all you long OOP burna boys!) but I've never gotten around to the absolute grind that is assembling one, let aloe painting it.

Orks, IMHO, are the master class army, perfect for conversion guys with mountains of bits who are more interested in having fun than winning tournies (Because, lets face it, tournies are timed and 200+ models ain't gonna let you finish games) ... I've never met an Ork player who was a jerk. They're just the happiest, grinning, shrugging when a Weirdboy pops "Hey, what're you gonna do? WAAAGH!" guys on the planet.

And I want to join that club, I'm just not able yet.

Voted Eldar. Always wanted to put together an Iyanden army but they've always been sorta 'meh' and I have enough armies as it is.

Also thought about Alaitoc (Scouts/Pathfinders I believe?) because I always loved the models, but see above for the $$ issue.

I played one in 4th for a while. I which i never sold the 30 wraith guard i had! i got more for them though than I got them for as i brought 20 of them for £15 of a player who was quitting the game and was virtually giving away his army.

Tau. I've been meaning to start the army and almost did once. But then I remember I need more Leman Russ tanks and Infantry.

IG - more specifically DKoK. Have always LOVED the look, will likely never pay for the models. At least, not enough to call them an army. Might eventually snag a few to paint up a diorama, or something, since they're just so damned cool. Even plain old Cadians, especially with tanks and artillery, can be pretty spiffy.

Honestly, though, there aren't really any 40k armies that don't appeal to me to at least some degree. BA and SW are probably at the bottom of my list and I wouldn't likely duplicate SM forces, even if they used different books, but I'm also not much of a player. For me, it's primarily aesthetic/fluffy.

I've taken a liking to DE lately due to:

1) their glass cannon reputation which is an interesting playstyle to me
2) the lore is pretty cool
3) they're fairly rare so I can please any ahem, latent hipster tendencies I may or may not be hiding

Kinda waiting on a new codex though, but by then everybody and their mom will be playing DE especially if GW pulls the "let's give this new army a new overpowered unit to move product" shenanigans. We'll see.

Sisters for me.

I used to play them back in 3rd edition and I wish I never sold them back then. If I didn't already have 3.5 armies already (3 + 1 allies only army) I would pick them back up. Just too expensive.

I really want to start a sisters army, But I don't want to pay the entry fee for an all metal army.

I would love to do a WW2 US GI flavored IG army or Halo ODST/airborne army.

For me its SoB. Those nice little girls can make up a decent army. Quite challenging to play.

IG, crushing everything under iron tracks and cannon fire.

Hard to decide between Orks and Eldar...

Its the only army ive never played for 40k, let alone owned.
Just the way the army works makes it pretty different from most.

This wouldnt have been true if GW didnt take them down, double the price and put them back for sale though as i was tinkering with the idea of building an army.

However, i cant justify the money for them now since im expanding other armies, funding my airsoft and other things.
Shame really.

Good question. Aside from the armies I plan on collecting already (all SM variants), it's a tie between Chaos and DE. Chaos have cool fluff, some stunning models (especially the newer stuff) and are fun to paint, and while I hate most of the DE fluff, having painted some up for my Inquisition army, I love the models.

Tau. Not because Triptide and all that jazz to make winning easier, but I just love the look of the models. I still intend to grab a box or 2 of fire warriors just for Kill team

That being said, I play most of my faves already. (I have Tau, Space Marines, Blood Angels, Imperial Guard, and Dark Eldar already.)

Good question... Chaos Marines are pretty cool, I guess. Interesting fluff and lots of conversion possibilities. May end up buying some, one day.

Pretty much a 50/50 split between Dark Eldar and Necrons.

I just love Dark Eldar models, and I love fighting them even though I'm terrified of fighting them at the same time. Whenever I go up against them I know it will be an interesting game. They get my vote for "most awesome army I will never play".

I also love the Necron models and the fluff. They get my vote for most awesome army I will probably end up owning models from someday (I plan on collecting some to ally with my Tau at some point).

Tyranids are awesome too. But then we get into the fact I think every 40k army is awesome in some capacity, although I'm not such a fan of space marines though...and I absolutely loathe eldar because elves(although the fact I love dark eldar makes that opinion rather inconsistent I guess).

Awesome concept, awesome and inspiring art, particularly on the new Codex cover, but ultimately it boils down to the fact that the current metal models are A) Absurdly overpriced and B) Garbage.

The models do not do the Sisters justice at all. They're dull and lifeless.

Voted Eldar, I've always liked the fluff, minis and playstyle, but I've got so many armies as is, I could only bring myself to sell my IG because I didn't like mech guard, and I bought SoB before the new dex so they were (less) expensive than now. Maybe this fall an Eldar force could be in the works.

Dark Eldar wins for me (technically I suppose I do play Eldar, even if it is just two units for the sake of having a Farseer ally ). I love the fluff, and I love the idea of running an army that can launch ridiculous amounts of lance weapons on the first turn, even if the vehicles are fairly flimsy. Trouble is, it's also one of those codices that requires a modicum of finesse to use properly, and I'm not confident enough in my abilities to use them without making a fool of myself.

Can't really vote for it in the poll because I technically have CSM and Daemons, but they're both mono Tzeentch/1k Sons.

An army I would like to have is a Flightless Nurgle/ Death Guard hybrid. Typhus, Zombies, Oblits, GUO, Walking Nurgle Princes with some Plague Bearers/ Marines.

Eldar for me. I have always loved the look of Biel-Tan but did not want to paint all the white. I love playing against the Eldar because they have a really nice looking army and it can pack a good sized punch. I have a few models here and there, but nothing big enough to play with.

I also like the Dark Angles fluff. I am in the process of making a Heresy Angels army using MkIV armour from FW. This will take a long time but will be awesome when done. I did not want another 40k army so im using 30k as a loop hole.

Even when I played long ago I always liked Imperial Guard, but they were always so expensive to get. I really liked how they looked like a "modern" army.
