I've been following this on the news, mostly channel 4 and BBC. I am so tired of hearing these commentators and inbred Sir whatshisface's preaching about how we should help the Ukrainians and drumming up sympathy for them. The Ukraine is just a pawn for the US and Europe in a great game between them and Russia. If it came to war the west WILL abandon them to their fate.

But the media wants to go on and on about some moral crusade against Russia. You want me to potentially put my life on the line in a war and kill russians in order to help ukrainians? I almost wouldn't be bothered if politicians and the media weren't telling blatant lies. If they had a mature conversation about how containing and pushing back russias sphere of influence is in the UKs direct interest I could at least understand that. But not this shallow, meaningless drivel about how the west "cares" so much for our ukrainian "brothers". These innocent lambs whiter than a white mare on unbroken snow. Its just more of the same lies they told about Iraq. Oh but Senator John Kerry saying that today you can't act like a 19th century power and invade on a false pretext; I actually broke out laughing. Have we all forgotten Iraq Mr Politician? How you lied to us like you're lying to us now? Theres so much bull coming out of both these news agencies and outright warmongering. Its sickening. If anything the West is provoking a conflict because the Ukrainians are holding out that America will come to their aid and let the new government save face. Without the West the Ukrainians would just back down instead of walking at russian soldiers unarmed yelling that "America is with us!" and asking to be shot. These selfish people. How dare they presume that I would risk my life for you people? Trying to drag us into a war like that. Do they even get what fighting russia would mean? How much death that would cause? I am utterly disgusted that my government has heaped praise and white washed these dumb warmongering thugs. Though TBH my government isn't much better with the way it is confronting russia and trying to put nato armies on the russian border. I fail to see how following the same strategy as Hitler means we're on the right side of history.

Ukraine is not my problem. My government and media can't even be bothered to be honest and tell me how this is even in my interest as a British citizen; if it even is. There won't be a war if the Ukrainians back down and if the West stops supporting them. If there is a war between ukraine and russia, no doubt I will be very busy at Oxfam volunteering away to help send aid to the poor country. I don't want to see the ukrainians or the russians suffer or die. Nobody would want that. But the way the media, my government and the ukrainians are so determined to drag me into their petty squabble. It has nothing to do with me and it shouldn't be our problem.

Why couldn't you just post your non-caring in the already existing Ukraine thread instead of caring about your not-caring so much that you would try to make us all care about you not caring by caring enough to make a whole new thread about not caring what others care about?

Agreements made before the new government took over That the new government are calling on US/EU to stand by the agreement. Yet the agreements are nulled and void with Russia? Double standards.. Obama and Kerry knows that. Putin knows that.

Yes I care about another country trying to drag me into their war where I'd be conscripted and have my city nuked. As a citizen of a country I have an interest and right to a say in that. In a democracy that should give me infinitely more say in whether my country goes to war than some Ukrainian conscript who wants to start a war.Sorry if I take offense at my media casually warmongering by wanting to intervene in Ukraine and my governments hypocritical double standard as it tells us the same lies they did over Iraq. That is something worth criticising. Not how Russia exercises itself inside its sphere of influence or entertaining nationalists in some distant land and letting them dictate my countries foreign policy. Potentially putting me at risk because some dumb Ukrainian conscript wanted to bleat some anthem and wave a flag walking at a Russian soldier.

I do not care about the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Why should I? We all know how ethnic conflicts go. Russian will kill Ukrainian and Ukrainians will kill Russians. Innocents dies. There are no good or evil sides here. Most of those dumb ukrainian conscripts and malden protestors will probably end up committing atrocities and war crimes if given the chance in a war. They are the type we all remember from Yugoslavia and it would be naive to assume this going any other way.. Russia will do terrible things I have no doubt. But siding with one side in such a conflict is not right.

That would be attacking European countries inside NATO which would be an act of war against the alliance and therefore Britain by extension. That would make Germany stop being neutral and the germans would crush the Russian army. They have a vastly superior army and more to the point, Putin isn't stupid enough to challenge Germany or NATO directly. He is acting within the Ukraine which is russias sphere of influence. So he is not going to attack Latvia with its 46% russian population. The Kremlin knows it would lose such a war and that its too weak to fight such a war. Why do you think the Russians were so quick to visit Merkel and reassure the Russian people through the press that cordial relations with Germany would continue?

The Ukraine is not NATO and the Ukraine is not Europe. Again, not my concern. We are not talking about Poland or even Latvia here.

Russian aggression serves no one well. It'd be more than likely a few dozen independence group would start up and start bombing things and turn that part of the world into a much more dangerous place to be.
If they don' want to live in Russia then why should they be forced to? They proclaimed independence for a reason. More to the point if we allow Russia to act so aggressively according to their whim it sets a more dangerous precedent in the future. It might only be some country in Eastern Europe that they used to own anyway today but what if the next time it's something closer to home?

The way I see it you have basically two options:

A) You can not care and shut up about Ukraine and stop posting.

B) Quit lying and get into the actual Ukraine thread and talk about what you care about.

Because all you have done so far is spam the forum with a duplicate thread that is 100% about you and your feelings and how you feel about stuff and how it pisses you off and about how your feelings are the most important, all while pretending that you don't have any strong feelings about the whole situation.
