i just checked over their stats, guant was just a super commisar that wasnt as cool as Yarrick and Schaeffer was only special in that he had a special squad set up to bring, I'd venture to say their loss was to remove excess that did not add anything to the game beyond being a named character.

Didn't nids lose all the specials that didn't have models like Doom just a few months ago in 6th? I don't have the codex but I do recall people mentioning something about that.

Actually, thats a good point. However, Doom and co. didn't have models, while all the major IG characters do. (Bastone being the only exception?)

I hope Bastonne gets a full rules rewrite or they trash him completely, hes got great fluff but he is terrible

Not terrible, just expensive as hell. Not amount you would pay for his small bonuses.

If it is a Stormtrooper/Vet box, they could include parts for Bastonne in that box and boom, he has a model.

5 Kits for Guard over 3 week is plausable, given that this month we have 2, maybe 3 kits so far. Room in the production line for more guard kits.

Stormtroopers are pretty much a given. Hopefully 10 models for $40 or $50, and not a 5 pack.
Ogryn also make sense, as they are huge models that would work on 50mm bases as a 3 pack.
Large transport would be handy for guard, as a land raider analogue. Maybe a 4-5 hull point unit that can carry 20-25 models? CRASSUS ARMORED ASSAULT TRANSPORT, Stormlord, and Gorgon are all superheavies, so this would be something in between.

As for the other two kits- If the first three are inantry, heavy infantry, and a big centerpiece tank, then the latter two could be fill in kits- Hydra(+Alternate model) and Artillery kit to make the Basilisk, Medusa, and Colossus seem logical. Alternatively, that kit number may include plastic character clampacks.

With new Stormtroopers... I hope for somethis awesome as is Kasrkin models. I love those.

And for rumored big transport...pleaaaase...CRASSUS ARMORED TRANSPORT! It would support GW decision to get superheavies into common WH40K and has none provoking D weapon = win win for everybody.

Cool, but that's not what you said originally. You said:

"I doubt that IG will lose characters... GW has not dropped a SC yet, so I think the odds of IG losing one are pretty low."

And then you were given three examples of them dropping characters.

So GW has done it in the past, and done it in the present.

Shaeffer, Gaunt and Macharius all had models. Still dropped.

I'm just curious... how long has it been since GW introduced a new Troops choice, aside from Cultists in CSM? All other infantry new releases have been in other slots, no?

Technically the Dark Angels book had a "new Troops" choice, as prior to that Scouts had been an "Elite" choice instead--having gone to "Elite" from the "Troops" slot of the mini-dex prior.

Do guard really need another troops choice though?

I would really love to see a box set with all the lovely Malcador variants in it as the BB set already contains transport capacity.
(I reckon the BB variants will be added to the Codex).
I think I'm going to be disappointed though :(

Yeah most new troops are justFOC shifts. Cultists are the first new troops choice that is also a new unit(well, returned unit) since IG penal legion.

As it stands now, the Troops choices are all basically the same. They're Guardsmen.

That might seem a bit silly, but look at how most armies have their Troops choices organized. They have a "heavy hitter" Troop choice which is more expensive but has better options and a "rank filler" Troop choice which is cheaper to field en masse, but with lower armor saves and potentially worse weapons.

It would be nice to see Grenadiers get a proper return, with Hellguns and Carapace Armor rather than just "Oh look, you have carapace armor and a lasgun or shotgun! Grenadier!".

Week 1: three kits:

- Ogryns/Bullgryns plastic combo-kit (one unit with ranged weapons, the other with giant shields and close combat weapons)
- Stormtroopers/Veterans combo-kit
- Unseen "Big transport" kit.

This new vehicle is said to be able to move entire squads of Ogryns and other stuff (so apparently more transport space than the Chimera). This kit is said to be roughly Land Raider sized. Previous "big tank" chatter over a month ago has also described it as being influenced by the Forgeworld Malcador's design.

1. Rumor has it as a tank larger than a Land Raider. The post you quoted mentioned it as a "large tank" unit.
2. Purely rumor and speculation, nobody knows for sure.
Also stop saying meow at the end of your posts. It's not a cute gimmick.

Seems like imperial guard will be split into

"Astra Militarium" imperial guard

and "Militarum Tempestus." which is some sort of stormtrooper army

I hope it comes with a rule for Super Heavy Tank Walker.

The "Scions" box looks interesting though.

[Edit] Yea, I'm going to buy one of those things, paint it pink, put some pipe cleaner on the back, and call it Bacon Box.

CODEX STORM TROOPERS HOOOOOOOOOOORAY.

With that out of the way...
That's definitely interesting. Might be the first "minidex" I ever buy.
The Scions don't look bad, but I'll have to wait and see if they match or exceed my Kasrkin.

The Taurox is...questionable. It looks like an old GI Joe toy. I think it was the Cobra "Hiss" tank or something?

Well I'm sure something will change to make me regret saying this, but I don't see me getting that transport if that's the new big IG vehicle.
Looks like a big block with tracks. Not impressed at this point.

The Taurox looks like gak. Is that seriously the best design they could come up with?
