Between Alpha and Omega, and a little to the left

I don't know, with 20 lasgun shots plus 4, say, plasma shots I'd say you'd still get a fair number of shots that can kill your enemy special weapons. You only need to wound once.

Yea but with lasguns? I mean wouldnt it be better to just get them to fire with an extra shot and than hope for one of those 6s to wound (after saves).

It may be useful if you really need that sketchy guy in the back of a squad dead, but I personally would rely on one of the other orders.

So I've got the new codex and I'm looking through it for the force organization chart to see if knights and what not have been added. I looked and looked and gest what? I cant find the force chart unless I missed it Gw forgot to add it in the codex.........

For the precision shots with the conscript squad do you allocate where all the shots go first and then roll To Wound? Like say I got 20 precision shots from my conscript squad and I wanted both the Sgt and Special weapon guy dead, I would have to put say 10 on each and hope it kills them?

I think you hit it on the head. FRSRF is still the king, but every so often having that there is useful. Especially against non characters like medics or guys with one wound. Also you are given those shots to your special weapons as well. 8 plasma shots from a CCS or 16 Hotshot Volley gun shots a few are sure to get a few hits. Then

The Tempestus book didn't have a FoC either. I think this points to them redoing how the FoC chart works in the near future. In fact, there are probably more hints about edition changes hidden in this book.

By the way, how exactly do you work out twenty precision hits? Obviously you roll to wound, then do you say "take 15 saves on that medic, one a time until you fail"? I guess there isn't a quicker way.

Yea, you take out the successful precision hits (every 6 in this case) and locate those hits to those in range. Then they are resolved normally.

So if you put 5 hits on the plasma gunner, all five wounds go against him. (im very certain). The excess ones dont go anywhere else. But I have never had mass precision shots come up before.

I think I'm just unashamedly happy with the prospect of pseudo pathfinder conscripts sniping out special weapons.
Craftworld Eldar spending centuries training and honing their aspect of Khaine, compared to a PCS barking four words to the conscripts "Shoot those particular guys!" and the conscripts suddenly
"Oh, yes, Sir! Right away, Sir!"

For words and they're suddenly half way to being able to precise shot as often as an Eldar ranger

You roll wound and then allocate those shots. You choose everything. So you got 10 wounds with PS you can have him roll his one at a time on the SW guy until he dies, then rest go one at a time on the sgt until he dies. Rest go to what ever you want.

I think it is more "spray in that general direction" and some of them are bound to hit the target. The Eldar use skill, conscripts use probability.

You never allocate hits, you always roll to wound against majority toughness. You can only allocate wounds. So you take all those precision shots and see how many wounds you get, making a seperate pool for precision shots (or several pools - precision melta/plasma etc). You then allocate those and roll saves. Page 63, precision shots:

Wounds from Precision Shots are allocated...

(I was fuzzy on this myself actually, never really bothered with precision shots as they were usually laspistols and I forgot.)

Thats interesting. Certainly makes it better.

We never do majority toughness for anything though. If there is a tough guy in the unit, we do one at a time (until there is no chance of him being wounded). that way you get that guys bonus. But thats a house rule I guess.

50 conscripts + priest.

Good luck uprooting that, or trying to fight it.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

I have to say that some of these bundles are making it hard for me to say no...I have always loved the idea of a guard army and these bundled deals are pretty darn good. I don't even care about whether or not the new units are good because i've never played Guard, I've always just liked the idea of modernish looking soldiers with tanks..

I don't have any space and don't play nearly enough to justify having the three different 2k point armies that I DO have, but...man...dat plastic.

Precision shot/barrage the priest. Or just cast terrify. The problem with 50 is that the formation is so unwieldy and easy to exploit. 30 is probably a much more reasonable number.

I just saw the Catachan bundle on the front page of the new GW site... you know what this means, those fethers are promptly going to be charging more for a separate supplement despite the fact it would have been free as part of the dex a couple years back.

Damn their eyes!

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

The Catachans have had a separate "battle force" compared to the Cadians for quite some time. It's not a new development.

Well not exactly free. At least there is hope that a Catachan expansion will have more depth than the "get a special character that does a thing" method we had in the previous codex.

Previous codex... /cry

Augur relays don't specify Imperial Guard only. Also doesn't specify teleporting etc. So load them up on vehicles and bring down Grey Knights, Drop Pods, Terminators, Assault Squads, since they all Deep Stirke.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

You're right, I'll changed that to be a little more specific to Deep Striking in general.

Odd I'm not sure if the lasgun arrays on Chimera have an arc.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

They're hull mounted, so I'd say that's likely their arc.

That or any direction you can actually turn them in (I don't own any so I don't know if they move or not).

Sorry about that. I was trying to use a template to ease off some of the typing and forgot to update that properly.

 alarmingrick wrote:

I'm not sure how much more clear I can be honestly. It's +/-X points over what it used to cost, and if it's new I +/- based on a unit or model in the 5th edition book (which gives people something they can reference at least to determine what they new thing basically costs). If I'm much more specific than that I could get legally slapped by GW's lawyers and that's not a game I'd like to play.
