Subject: Thraxas Paints: Rise of the Ad Mech: Army Shot
Agreed on the heaviness. It was a bit of a slog walking home with it!
@Zambro, me and the Missus had a couple of play throughs and have failed to kill Draskk both times. It is very easy to learn and we really enjoyed it. The random events may be a bit *too* random and I do not know how many repeat games it will stand but we did have a good time.
I plan on house ruling some different varieties of Chaos Marines and maybe Terminators too, that should add to it.

So a nice bit of progress on the boxed set with over 60% of it painted (I am including the Familiar in the miniature count to bring it up to 24 for, well, easier maths).
So here are my 15 Cultists. I used some of my models from Dark vengeance for a bit of variety, and also put the odd head swap in as well. But very glad to have my first 15 done, just 35 left now:
Nice quick job on the Familiar (aka Turn Counter):
And a quick WIP on the remaining 4 Renegades:
And Drask's brother, Darsk (Cape to be added and mould line to be removed from axe)
I am quite proud of myself having painted the grunts first and leaving the Assassins until last. But a question, to camo or not to camo on the Assassins?
Personally, I'd go with just black and spot colours for the assassins. Not only would they look very striking, but I think it's more applicable to sneaking around temples/spaceships/catacombs than any kind of actual camp. When you can basically disappear just by stepping into the shadows, you don't really need camouflage suits.

Those cultists do indeed look great. If you really want to go camo for the assassins, I reckon they'd look good in Multicam, but you can't go past classic black, either.
Man every time I see those cultists painted up nicely I wonder about getting a set to use for misc riffraff, raiders/mutants, wasteland dwellers... etc.
Yours look great, solid work on the set. Can't wait to see the assassins

Tanks as ever gents, I was looking at all my 40k stuff and was scared to realise that I only got back into it last July...that has lead to 4 armies Hawk Lords, Iron Warriors, Ad Mech and Blood Angels (well the BA are 4 painted models so not an "army" as such). I am quite happy that since July I have painted over 100 40K minis:
Armies of The Imperium:
Iron Warriors:
With this lot to paint:
Oh and these...Kastelans.
I love this guy:
Datasmiths:
So I think what I am saying is that this is a line in the sand. I will lay off purchasing for a bit (the only exception being the Ad Mech HQ and maybe a box of the servitors) and also get back into painting Malifaux and completing what i have left of Deadzone. To the future...
@ AOVI am hoping for full on Ad Mech, I am not sure that I like the Katraphon's thatttttt much, basically how most people seem to feel about the Kastellan's but reversed. Magos for sure, but I am not keen on the Electro Priest feet...but we shall see.
The bots are nice and simple to pose, maybe one more kit to make 2 units of 3...but damn that would be a near 450point unit. The possibility of 9 strength 6 Phosphor Blaster shots is very inviting though.
@EyeamRai: That was what I was going for, it is a turn counter in the game so I wanted something quick, easy and fun.
@Grim: I am not sure my quality is improving but my quantity certainly is.
@Para: The Datasmiths are superb, it is a shame that the legs are covered by the robes as they are amazing underneath. I wish there was a bit more poseability too, but they are great miniatures.
I'm loving all of your AdMech stuff. If not for AU pricing (and a poor dollar right now) I'd be pouring money into those, and posts like the ones in your P&M here aren't helping!
The chaos dudes from the Assassin boardgame look good as well. I need to dust off my own IW at some stage - and again - yours aren't helping!
Thanks for the pic. The Kastellan is a bit smaller than I was hoping it would be. The official pictures, as usual, make it look like it'd be at least twice the size of a Dreadnought.
You're right there. The model seems to be a decent size, but the official pics make them look huuuge.
I'll get some IW pics up soon(ish). I need to fill out the squads that I've started for 5-7th edition. And then get Archer or someone to make me some force lists.
