The chance to replace those ancient, ham fisted archers and spearmen with Wood Elves may be too tempting to miss. Speaking of which...today saw me:

Basically a collection of WHFB Empire/High Elf/Dark Elf/DwarfOgre/Chaos and Mantic bits. I have owned armies for all of these and promptly sold them on. This got me thinking about my Elf alliance/possible just Dark Elves for AOS and I found these:





probably from around 2010, Not an amazing conversion or anything, but I have enough bits to make another one. I will re-base them onto 25mm rounds and start my "new" fantasy army. I also dragged these out of the cupboard, a present from a confused Uncle a couple of years ago:





I think I will split the Executioner box into two man units, one Executioners and one black Guard.

So add a character and I basically have a very good base for an AOS army. I just need to get growing some pointy ears for the special rules now.

Ok, so I'm a little behind on this blog. First off, your mechanicus stuff is really top knotch. I've seen a lot of people do some good work with the HQ model, and yours is right up there.

I also like your color scheme for the sigmarite. I went with the stock one, and am in the process of trying out a silver / green approach. I won't copy yours, but I'm tempted.

You say bits box, I say army waiting to happen! Looking forward to seeing where this goes; my easily-led-astray wallet is less enthusiastic!

Great stuff these last couple of pages. The BA are looking good as always - I particularly like the DC Dread. And you know how much I love your AdMech. The Sigmarine looks very nice as well, and now the new/old elves look very promising. I look forward to seeing what you do with those DE kits!

Well the set was a joy to put together, just be wary of Vandus Hammerhand as it can be a bit fiddly to get everything to fit together snugly. So dry and test fit everything.

As is often the way I was not originally enamoured with the Khorgorath Skuldrak, but having him in hand I think he will be first up for painting.

We want pics, we want pics!

Any chance you could take some quick shots of the Khorney lord and big demon-thing and the Sigmarite general before you paint them? I'm interested to see them in the bare plastic rather than the gaudy (though decent) GW schemes.

Just on the exercise bike, will get some shots up in an hour or so. And some rear shots, we never get those.

Models are simply stunning. The hellbrute thing has really grown on me and I think could look amazing with a different color scheme than GW has been showing.

Had fun painting up the Khorgorath, I went for a more natural scheme and also snipped off the jewellery near its jowls as it made it look like it had been to the salon.

He's actually Red and Screamer pink if you look at the YouTube vids.

It is actually a scheme I used on Chaos Spawn many moons ago.

Aye, he is dry brushed from Doombull Brown-Karak Stone-Ushabti Bone and then a sepia wash and some layering.

I was a bit lazy on the rear so the dry brush looks more obvious but I can quickly go over that with some smoother layers. Have you gents got or sets yet?

That khorgrath is really nice looking, if I filled in the scars on the beast he'd make a cool possessed model for Mordheim.

Typing is hard with migraines..

It'll be a couple of weeks until I can get mine, so in the mean time I'll just be following along here and noting any ideas that I can steal!

A simple wash should neaten the drybrushing easily enough.

That loosk really good. Far better than the overly-bright official scheme. I like the texture you've given it's skin as well. How did you do that? (The model looks to have smooth skin?)

My copies haven't left the US yet. Hopefully soon. Then a couple of weeks to get here. So.. August?

I really like the color scheme you went with here, Thraxas. I like the emphasis on the scar carved into his chest.

Thank you everyone, the stock scheme was just too bright I just prefer neutral colours that are far more abundant in most "nature".
