Nice haul! Looks like you've gone all-in on Antares, have you managed to play a game yet? What does it play like?

That's a nice load of presents. I bought the Gates of Antares rulebook and it looks like a slick rule system. I don't have anyone around here interested in playing, so I won't be buying any minis any time soon, but I look forward to seeing you build your army!

If I were to do a GoA army though, I would go with the Ghar. Like the look of the little guys.

@Para/Squall: Yes, I have had a couple of small (3/4 squads) games at one of my local game stores with someone else local who has bought into the game. We found it to be quick, and easy to pick up. At the small level we also found there were basically no grey areas easily...found it very enjoyable and hope to move onto bigger game soon.

Have finally gotten back into my painting groove for 2016 and have gotten some more Alpha Legion knocked out, starting with the first 5 members of my Legion Tactical squad (2 were done last year):

have also started on my meltagun support squad:

As well as the special character Autilon Skorr:

Thanks for looking.

Is that a freaky helmet or is he some kind of lizard man? Kind of neat. Great paintwork on the marines, as usual

His helmet has a grotesque face plate- not an uncommon thing.

Its like the chaplain skull mask, I get it. I just wondered since y'know chaos. Or eventually chaos pending 30/40k.

It is a very fancy faceplate, you get a better idea from the painted versions dotted around the internet. I am a bit daunted by it actually.

Got Autilon Skorr, and the meltagun support squad done, actually feels like the start of an army now.

Next up are the remaining 10 Tactical Marines.

Thanks for looking.

Those are sweet. Is that thing in his right hand literally a command baton? Cause that's kind of awesome.

Thanks everyone, on the cusp of having 5 more Marines done, but could not resist adding some paint to "The Artist Formerly Known As Kurtha Sedd".

I have another Kurtha to paint but envision that I will convert him into something different.

Excellent! Nice weathering, and that cape with the very stylised shading really gives the impression that it's one of those camo-cloak type things, so very fitting for AL.

All I think would be a really cool addition would be running a blue wash along the bottom edge of the crest, get a cool AL blue-to-green fade going on there. It's fine as it is, I just think that could be a really neat touch to add.

That faceplate is straight out of dark souls.

I never thought of doing grotesque plates for armies but, it makes sense.

They've always been popular, just now they are wearing their own armor instead of hiding in Ultramarine armor .

That faceplate turned out fantastic. Well done.

I think people like the shades of grey aspect of the Alphas...are they Chaos or are they loyalist? Ultimately if GW ever go AOS on 40k I hope that the Alphas either save the day or blow everything up .

@Para: Have done that now Para, thanks for the suggestion it was a nice finishing touch.

And now in a similar theme I am using Azazelx's Tale of **** Gamers thread to paint the Algoryn that the missus bought me for Christmas. What is nice about these is that most of the units are 3 to 5 men teams so they are a nice little aside to my Alphas.

So here is my Algoryn Command Team:

I really enjoyed doing these, they are nice little sculpts that basically paint themselves.

Until the next time.

Those are very neat, I'm getting a definite retro sci-fi feel from both the sculpts and the paintwork. Old Cybermen, original Cylons, Farscape type stuff. Good work!

The eye of terror

It's been a while, been slacking off on the blog following!

Will have to have a peek at that Ghar box then, though I am supposed to be on a 'don't buy things' kick, cause those always last right

I really love what you've been doing with the 30k marines, and seriously impressed with your 'done for 2015'. If I could manage even half of that this year I'd be chuffed.

Algoryn are looking good too, completely agree with paradigm on the retro front, though it seems that way with a good chunk of the range.
