Cheers gents.

@Para, have you seen what is up next on the Algoryn release schedule? Space sleds!

A hell of a lot of Algoryn have also infiltrated the Blood Angel army, maybe time that he removed the skull helmet?

Here is the aforementioned Exalted Deathbringer, not an amazing job but it will do for now. I think the skin needs a bit more work:

I also knocked out a bit of terrain:

And finally a little test for a Genestealer, I am thinking of a grey carapace...any thoughts?

Awesome terrain piece, very natural rock effect. Good to see the BA has finally worked out that he's been duped, and is about to deliver some Crozius Pattern revenge!

Love the look of that Genestealer, my suggestion would be that whatever you decide to do, do it with washes/glazes over that base to keep the wonderful alien/insecticide texture to it.

Quick question on the Algoryn stuff, the boxes on Warlord's site say '+2 extra models'. Is that extra to the listed contents (ie. 9 in a pack, 7+2) or does the 7 listed include the 'extra' two?

Recently Warlord increased *most* of the squad boxes from 5 to 6/ 7 at no extra cost so the total amount of minis is 7. I think the +2 is because 5 are pictured on the front of the box. The army deal ( and my it was a deal) I got was for the old contents. So the number should be correct in the description. The weapon teams also got additional crew.

So if buying online from a retailer it is probably best to email and ask if you are buying the old or new boxes...much better to get 7 figures rather than 5 for the same money.

Agreed on the 'Stealer...I want them to be as simple to paint as possible.

Who said anything about ordering? Nah, I probably would, with 20% off 7 pretty tall metal minis for the price isn't half bad. Only reason I'm not planning to grab a couple of sets just to paint is because between 40k, Batman, Marvel and now BSG minis I've just got too much to be getting on with at the moment. I did say I wanted to try a few new manufactuers and ranges this year, though, so they're definitely bookmarked for future reference when my desk is slightly less full!

Give it a month and your desk will be cleared.

I think Warlord should start paying me commission.

Nice use of 'natural' flesh tones on the genestealer.

I had better get completing my test schemes because...this happened.

Deathwatch Overkill!

A beautiful set, the miniatures are incredible. I am a little stunned by the details on the Deathwatch Marines, plenty of skilled painters out there will create some beautiful miniatures with this set. But it is the Genestealer Cult that I am mainly interested in and they are gorgeous in their own grotesque way as well. So just a few pictures:

So am just off to glue my fingers/figures together.

You guys are gonna have to get me photos of the assembled genestealer cult models once you get to that point I'm trying to resist and so far there aren't a lot of photos of the models assembled without paint, just the sprue pics and studio paint work. If I can see them put together... I'm probably doomed.

Exciting times in the land of 40K then gents...

Firstly I managed to finish off my Alpha Legion Heavy Bolter squad, just the 5 Cataphracti and Praetor to go and then I will have painted up one of my Calth boxed sets. Hopefully will get them done by Sunday:

And the Sergeant with attitude:

Also got a bit *all*of the Overkill construction done:

Scale shot of the Patriarch:

And a few 4th Gen hybrids and the like for Grim:

I also did a few head swaps with Skitarii for added variety:

And finally the postman was kind to me today:

Very pleased to have a Reaper Autocannon and power mauls for my Terminators.

Thanks for looking.

Great work on the Alphas, the sarge looks very, very cross about something! Those Stealers are soooo damn nice, and some headswaps on the 2-armed ones would make for some great Inq28/ITEN/Necromunda stuff... Ideas, ideas...

I am super excited about the genesteal cult. I'll probably not buy the game itself, but I will be splitting a box, or just getting a set of ebay soon. Can't wait to see you tackle them.

Also, the BA Chaplain is stunning. Its a great model and you have really done it justice.

@ AOV: I was lucky enough to have a free evening yesterday and just went for it. Will be playing the first few missions against the missus tonight.

@Para: indeed, there is so little Tyranid iconography on them that a few mods and you have near future gangers good to go.

@Squall: Some of the eBay prices I have seen are not too bad, so that is certainly an option. Thanks regarding the Chaplain.

@Zambro: "The Paintening" begins tonight...

Cheers Salvage, so many uses for the Cult models.

I have gotten the Patriarch done, and also some WIP on some cultists who basically seem to paint themselves.

Ultimately I went for a classic 'Stealer scheme, I think I am happier for it as I have not been painting enough purple recently. The Patriarch also makes 50 minis painted in 2016 thus far, so I am happy with that.

*whoops, had better remove that purple from the pipe".

Purple! Should've guess really! Excellent work, the Patriarch especially is simply amazing! Looks deadly, lethal and avoids the pitfall that big Nids often fall into of losing realism to cartooniness. The venomous tail is a wonderful touch, is that just the slime technical paint or is there more going on there, paint-wise?

You hit 50 the same day I did! Going to be interesting watching those totals increase over the year... not that I'm being competitive or anything

@Para: Always purple! (Or more recently Teal). The tail is the Nurgle's Rot technical paint, I got the idea given the general ick and assorted Deathwatch skulls and helmets around the pipe on the base.

No competition here, I do not have a competitive bone in my body.

@AOV: Glad he looks sinister...my sinister minister might have to be next.

Love the Patriarch, but personally I would prefer the brain a bit brighter, maybe a lighter shade of pink. The brain is really a focal point of the model I find so making really pop is important.

Good work for just a day of painting however! Rivalling Para's godlike speeds of painting

Awesome painting on those - they look great! Not a fan of the brain in general, but I think the red is a good way to go. I also started with a glance at the first page of your blog, and then this one, and you have really stepped up to the next level between then and now. Congrats!
