@Grim: Cheers fella, even nicer that you did two nice posts...maybe one was intended for another blog?

@EDC:I think so. Top quality plastic crack.

@Fifty: I have had the set since Thurs, so have had a bit of time. I think I am often guilty in exchanging speed for quality control.

@Wolf: For me they are a good 9...especially for a mono pose kit. A joy to paint too.

@WarbossDakka: I agree on the brain, I actually painted it with Bloodfor the bBlood God. Have since hit it with progressively lighter pink layers and a Carroburg crimson wash. It looks better now...but still nowhere near the awesome studio paint job.

Para is an enigma, no point in even trying to keep up with him

@kestrel: thank you. I do not think I have improved as much as I could have...but have certainly improved from my early blog days.

Me and the missus got the first two missions of Overkill in tonight... She won both.

So who was Kill Team and who was Cult?

Cindy won both, the first scenario as Deathwatch (she chose White Scar/Imp Fist/Cassius and Blood Angel) although it does seem like a lay up mission for the Deathwatch. Then she won the second game as Cult by killing my Space Wolf and Dark Angel.

Anyway a bit more progress with some Cult (*insert generation here, I can never remember which is which, I had the same problem with Plague in Deadzone):

And here they are celebrating "Patriarch's Day"

I hopefully will get my Magus , and thus an entire 10th of the boxed set, done today.

Really nice work T. Loving a bit of old school retro on these guys though you (and every other bugger here who bought the box already!) are making me well jealous!!!! Gonna hold strong though and not buy until I've got a load of my backlog painted. Great job though T

Those are 3rd and 4th gens. Bit more humanoid looking and less horribly mutated. 1st and 2nd gens are the gribbly bunch, but a bit stupid intelligence wise. Then the 5th gens are full genestealer gribblies.

Though, the Primus guy is apparently a 1st/2nd gen, which is odd.

Love what you've done here btw. The eyes give them a very alien look, while the flesh makes them look more human.

Excellent work!

@AoV: I thought 4th Gens were the end of the line? The cult starts with Stealers/a Broodlord, then the mutation gets less and less prominent as you go down, so by the 3rd or 4th Gen they can pass as humans so long as it's dark and no one looks too closely? I didn't think it went full circle and back to actual Stealers.... I could well be wrong, though!

Looks like I'm a page and a half behind now. Damn work, taking away from my blogging and forum time like this! Great work on the Deathbringer, and I really do like the shattered aquila terrain. Alpha Legionaries look great as well. The test genestealer looks really good, fleshy and sickly. I love the look that the Overkill ones have got. Classic purple. The Skitarii heads work surprisingly well on them as well. The hybrids have really come up well. Fantastic stuff!

Fara s I remember it does eventually go full circle with full blooded 'stealers being 'born'

I love your cultists. I also love the patriarch. My only concern is that he looks as if he is outdoors in bright sunlight, which I doubt he ever would be.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Yep. 5th gens are the purestrain stealers. Though, the cult will worship them just as much as the Patriarch, as they echo the true form of the Four Armed Emperor.

Ah, thanks for clearing up the generational thing. I was stoked to get a nice tweet from the sculptor of the Cult members Darren Latham (sp?) today, check out his twitter for an awesome paint job and scheme.

@Fifty: Even Xenos are allowed a summer holiday. It began a beutiful sunny day but is snowing now, good old British weather eh?

Magus is go!, or "Dramatic Opera Guy" as Cindy calls him:

Love that Magus! He's the kind of model that would've been so easy for them to overload with details and paraphenalia, but as he is, it's very subtle despite the dramatic pose and that really lets the paintwork to the talking! Great work!

Lucky there is no one to compete with over Deathwatch: Overkill on the blogs.

*Looks at recent blogs. Sees Bottle's. Retires*.

It has all been teal recently

@Bottle: I found the Deathwatch to be particularly mould line tastic, nothing too difficult to deal with but they were everywhere.

Next are the mining lasers.

@WarbossDakka: No worries, I am only in competition with myself to get stuff done.

@aku-chan: cheers. I am on four night shifts on the trot now so I
will slow down now before the weekend.

Yeah I noticed that the DW had a good bit of cleaning up to do. Though that could've been that my copy was part of a final casting run maybe? Idk. Grytt (IF devastator) in particular had a good bit of it on his model.

Managed to get a couple more of the Cultists done, this time with Mining Lasers. In 40k itself these are pretty devastating, strength 9, AP 2, Heavy 1 but sadly only a 24" range. Am happy with how they turne out:

Onto more 3rd/4th Gens next.

Thanks for looking.

Those look pretty deadly, sure they can't pop tanks from across the board but they can make a very ugly no-zone for such vehicles. Excellent paintwork as usual Is the helmeted head stock or did you use another Adeptus head?

@Grim: As Bottle noticed it is a Skitarii head. Not as malformed and bulbous as his compadre but I think it fits the mining/underground/ rebreather theme. Am en route to getting another 7 cultists done soon.
