They are still hosted on the site, so Google is your only option at the moment I think. Do it this way:

http://bit.ly/PUaO1S

That's the first non-sarcastic use of that site for me, ever.

Sadly it looks like the only ones that are accessible are ones you've previously accessed on your machine and cached. All the Fantasy ones for me are throwing up the "Generic Error Page".

Wonder if someone would be nice enough to put up all the FAQs in some central location?

Actually I think they might even be allowed to do that, but if we can't I'm sure a wondering mod will tell us.

Man. That's some ridiculous stuff. I'm kind of blown away that there's no introduction to the company and its products anymore. If you don't know what an Eldar is, the website cannot help you one damn bit. If a parent does some googling about the game his kid wants you to buy for him, I guess GW would rather they go to Wikipedia. It's just a staggering kind of uninterestedness.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

The record of past purchases also would be valuable to GW.

Foe example, they used to know where I live, my local GW shop, and what things I bought, which indicates the armies I am interested in.

That information could be used to send me special offers, invitations to events, info about new units for my armies, and so on.

All of that could be sent out nearly automatically to a relevant group of users. You could for example contact all Tau players in Scotland who haven't bought a unit for more than a year, and send them an offer to visit their local shop for a free pot of paint.

Uhh...if deleting the user accounts means less spam, I'm all for it.

The clever way of doing it is to keep the accounts and use them for marketing purposes, but give people an opt-out from spam emails.

No worries man, I made the same mistake earlier. I didn't think GW would have dropped these but given they tossed out their customer data I wonder did they have issues exporting the information from the old server.

I think the concept is you would already know about GW from going into one of their shops, or by word of mouth.

They actually call the new site a "web store", which indicates that it is just for making purchases.

I'm not overly convinced, but that exclusive mini being quite awful, I don't think I'll ever have to cope with that website anyway

Considering they removed the GW Facebook, Twitter, and all other forums of electronic communication, I have but one hope.

That they launch a seperate "games workshop rules, erratas & FAQ's" website that becomes the sole mouthpiece regarding rules (ie, no more conflicting FAQ's and posts by the facebook page)

However...this is a slim hope. I'm more of the mind that this is their whole sale dropping of after-market support for rules after they've been written. "Here people, take our poorly formatted, terribly spelled, and grammatically insane over-priced fancy codex, that will be all but unusable for the next several years until we decide to make your army a new one." That will suffer the same problems.

Yes. The same site should have army info and actual articles. Of course, it probably won't happen.

Individual stores maintain facebook pages, but their corporate Facebook page is gone. Corporate Facebook being somewhat official, the local facebook being just the mouthpiece for your local red/blackshirt.

GW hasn't had a facebook page for awhile, Up until a few weeks ago they had digital editions, forgeworld and black library but they abandoned it, along with its twitter. Because any connection to negative comments, scrutiny or legitimate questions must be avoided and buried at all costs.

I emailed customer service about the FAQs and how they're the only source of corrections for some of the books. When they respond I'll share.

I'm afraid we'll be here for a while waiting, like forever being until they continue the plot type forever.

I also shot an email off to an acquaintance in the dev studio who just replied "thanks" back, so I'm guessing he was unaware. Can't say it'll fix anything but at least raising the issue with the people who wrote the FAQs should help I think.

Well if it's a new company doing the website there are data protection laws about not sharing your private info (name and address) with another company without your consent. Whilst I understand moving a bunch of data from one box to another might be simple there would be an almighty row if they gave our data to a new company and they got hacked. Also they may well have updated theri terms of service needing you to re register to say you accept the new terms.

You don't have to share the data. You just share the field structure of the relational database that contains the data, and provide dummy data for test purposes.

You don't have to re-register to accept new terms and conditions. eBay sends out new terms and conditions fairly often, and you accept them by continuing to use the web site.

No legal requirement to keep customer records beyond those required for accounting proposes, and I would expect that to be separate to the website customer records to some extent. There is no issue with giving a company re-doing the website the information, as long as it is used in line with the reason the data was collected. For example, the third party could move your data to a new server for GW, or even send out marketing on GWs behalf, but if they used it for cold calling you about web design, or for some other reason there would be a problem.

Main problem with that is that it requires effort from GW and them to admit mistakes, two things that recently they refuse to do. They have been dumping things that they should be doing onto the community because they aren't a "rules company", despite charging insane prices for rules and splitting them up into DLCs.
