While the second captain is nice, it is still $30 for a single model that I could almost certainly replicate with stuff from my bitz box.
This guy is a third of the price, far more characterful and more detailed in every way. So are the rest of the resin captains...
Still, I have to congratulate GW on making people want to spend money so that they can get a code to spend more money. Genius.

I hope you're right because I was going to add a can of Caliban Green onto my order last night but panicked when I saw they only had The Fang on the site!

Your view is valid (other than belittling others) but your needs are... different.
The rest of us remember when the site was a community which was a great go-to for lore or how-to's for painting or model assembly or kit-bashing.
It is generally accepted we go to other places for that unless GW chooses to file a cease and desist.
Yep, it just caught up with the modern day purchasing site, no argument there, couple things to get used to but functionally superior to before.
Problem is, we are observing it does NOTHING to differentiate itself from it's competitors... make them better... "swings and knocks it out of the park" hardly, compared to itself I agree, compared to others: just holding their own.
The crying is because we care enough to see GW succeed and it is painful to watch when opportunities are missed. Automatically Appended Next Post: Kilkrazy wrote:For a little chuckle, all you anti- GW whining and moaning™ cynics, type "game" into the search function and see what comes up.
What is up with that??
A total of 3 hits for the word "game" on the GW site?
That is way too funny.
Thanks, I needed that.
I think what bothers me is now the Fantasy Flight Games site seems bubbly with character in comparison.

The funny thing is, GW has it's own 40k aesthetic and it's own fantasy aesthetic... why did they go for a boring bright white clinical scheme when they could have implemented a similar aesthetic for which they are actually already known. It just has no character, it doesn't have any Games Workshop/40k/Fantasy/Lord of the Rings feel to it. That's just from an aesthetic stand point... functionally I dislike it compared to what we had (which wasn't awesome either really).

Your definition of "swings and knocks it out of the park" is a very strange one to say the least... GW's competition sites have things like downloadable FAQ's, hobby and gaming articles, interviews with the designers and creators, WIP articles, new model previews months in advance of the release date, community forums, integrated and free army builder tools... GW's site is now nothing more than a glorified web store, by comparison that "park" looks more like a toddler's sandbox.

Okay now I am pissed.
Just found out that if you are at the UK GW store, it is impossible to have them ship the goods to any other country than the UK.
See I am not pissed because this is really affecting me or anything, but the reason I am pissed is because GW did what I had not thought they would have the audacity to do: force customers to buy from their regional shops.
When I was young (bout 10 years ago) and didnt know much about discount webstores (or their safety) I used to buy from UK GW most of the time to save some cash because of the unfair exchange rate to Euro GW stores. This was before their "free shipping above x monies spend" offer, mind you.
Then when they originally started their free shipping offer, it was pretty commendable:
Free shipping on orders over 10 pounds in the UK store, and free shipping on orders over 15 Euros in the DE store, for example.
Then they increased that to 20 and 30, respectively.
Now they have increased it to 40 and 50, respectively.
I feel GW's greed is eating the comapany inside out.
They had started the whole free shipping after x money spent thing as a way to lure back customers from discount webstores.
Then they ordered these stores to stop shipping to non-EU countries to help people flock to their store.
Then they started to make many many products GW direct only to further make customers flock back to them.
Apparently all that wasnt enough, now you cant order from GW direct anywhere other than your local country's GW site. Ouch to all AUS/NZ customers.
It also doesnt help that the recent postage from UK to EU (also also US to EU, as a sidenote) has increased dramatically than what it used to be several years ago. So placing small orders like that single GW-direct figure you wanted to have is no longer worth it unless you place it at your local GW and have it delivered to the store to save shipping. Nice way to have people flock back to their FLGS as well.
At least they still have the decency to allow you to choose language of any books you buy.

That's been a thing for a few years now. GW doesn't allow FLGS to internationally ship and they don't internationally ship (outside of FW).

Actually you could, I seem to remember around the time of some change or another last year, someone dummy ordered a pot of paint from the UK store for shipment to Japan, and it was perfectly willing to let you place the order, but the shipping was something like 20x the cost of the paint.

As long as it wasn't four pots or whatever the maximum Royal Mail would allow!

NA hasn't had international shipping options like that for a while. I'm guessing that they're just bringing things into a standardized format.
Plus it makes no sense for GW to let it's own stores cannibalize each other's sales like that. For the guy asking about mephiston red spray;
I mailed GW about this a while ago when it was 1st removed from the site.
I simply got a mail back stating it has now run out and is done with.
All 4 coloured sprays were only limited runs, so once they have gone, they are finished with.

It's like a giant example of how no one at GW understands what things are for.
Case-in-point, the new update on my local GW store's Facebook page,
Come by the shop today and place your pre-order! You can also get yourself a FREE Space Marine Captain for placing orders on the new web store at the shop!
