No, they aren't. The difference between them is not more than a dozen bits. Nobznaut could also refer to Gorkanaut+ MANz seen in one of the pictures. All other pictures have been made into "You save nothing!!!"-deals as well. Automatically Appended Next Post: Mega-Armoured nobz are, regular ones aren't.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.

No its this stupid new thing on the new GW site.
Now they show the unit rather than the kit for sale. So if a box makes 2 types of unit they will have two different sections for them rather than together like the older site.
i personally preferred the old way. you got to know what you received in the box.

I dare say that they decided people didnt realise that the multi model kits make up all the things that they do, so it became necessary to show each one individually.
The could however just label the product more clearly?
Saving themselves some bills from the web dev that had to create extra pages. And some bandwidth on their hosting when people check out both pages in one visit.... but this is GW we're talking about.. theyre not exactly well known for following a logical, understandable plan for their business

Bandwidth is basically free these days (at least when we're talking about nothing but images and text) and the website is probably a framework that needs no more than a couple of pictures, some properties and a description text to create a new entry. When they sell a single Gorkanaut, they've probably covered the additional expenses of those things for the rest of the decade.

It makes me think of the kind of website a one store, owner/operator business would have, if it was run by a computer illiterate octogenarian.

Er.. that would depend if they're at 100% utilization, which we have no way of knowing. Using lingo like "loss" is exactly what telecoms want you to believe so they charge you more for 1s and 0s that aren't some kind of resource :p I'm sure GW has a reason for showing both kits as seperate choices so to them it makes sense.

Why can't I? I actually work in that field. To even be able to tell the difference you'd have to get thousands of views of that page. The whole front page with all its pretty pictures totals to about 2 MB. Displaying that page one thousand times is $2 on an average webhoster. Take away the pictures and you've got 10 KB of HTML and javascript left. Considering that you'd have to show the pictures of the alternate built anyways and assuming a somewhat intelligent caching mechanism (build into every modern browser), you'd probably save about 10 KB per unit page you take down. So you'd need a hundred thousand views on that additional page to have it cost you $1. If that additional page sells one additional model per 100.000 views, they are probably making money, not wasting it.

Because starting a RAW debate about a unit not in a codex, meant to be a preview from the next codex is totally a way to have an enjoyable game with your opponent.

Coming from playing only Privateer Press games for the past couple years, with this being my first actual codex/miniatures release for 40K, it boggles my mind that GW formats their releases in the way that they do. I can go and find out right now what Privateer Press is releasing in August/September, and plan my purchases accordingly. With this ork release, I don't even know what's coming out two weeks from now - and it's frustrating the hell out of me. All I'd like is some form of schedule, so that I can budget my hobby stuff appropriately. I mentioned the weird release thing to my wife, and she said "It sounds like they're trying to copy Apple." Which would be well and good, except that Games Workshop doesn't have hundreds of thousands of people lining up outside their stores for new product on release day like Apple does. For a miniatures company in a relatively niche market, it's terrible way to do business.

GW owes nothing to buyers concerning items not currently for sale.
The idea that GW should follow Privateer Press's style is a valid concept, but when GW sells exponentially more products at a far greater volume, you can't say they are the same.

Howdy folks!
Just signed up to post in another thread and thought I'd add something I heard at the store yesterday.
MANZ will have a chainfist option (perhaps the fancy buzz saw in the pic a few pages back) Person I was chatting with said he saw it on one of the forums...I haven't seen it however but seems reasonable. Anyone heard or seen similar?
I just recently got into Orks (past couple of months, going 2-0 so far) and I'm excited to bolster my forces with the new releases!

+1, very well said. After watching all the other races get their shiny new rules and models every year, it was finally our turn at the end of 4th edition - and we got a kickass codex and lots of awesome new kits. I'm optimistic that this new codex will do the same.

With prior warning of the models release he could have budgeted more for this month by reducing his hobby budget in other months.

Played 40k for several years before playing any PP. I was so surprised and elated when I discovered their ruleset, release practices, game balance, and model quality. It was like the fog had lifted. PP does such a superior job of handling their game. I still love GWs miniatures, and still paint and collect them, but I MUCH prefer PP as a company.

This, exactly. I know that I'd like to buy the codex and at least one box of flash gitz. That's over $100 I'll be spending on GW product. However, it sure would be nice to know when I can expect to spend that $100. I mean, a few pages ago people were wondering if the codex was even releasing this month. That's not a great business strategy for any company, especially when there are tons of customers who really would like to buy the product but can we please just have concrete release dates more than two weeks out?
I know that in July, I'll probably spend $15 to get the new Khador junior warcaster. How do I know that? Because two months ago, Privateer Press let everyone know exactly when the friggin' model is being released!

How far out GW choses to give its release schedule is entirely up to them. Privateer press and GW are not the same game, so a person buying a Privateer Press model isn't going to use it to play GW games, or visa versa. Everyone, at this point, should know full well that irks are coming this month. What more do you need?
