The pictures look awesome, and it's a must-buy kit but the article is VERY underwhelming.
- Adam: "with the eventual aim of clobbering some heads in close combat too"
- Dan: "while remaining firmly out of combat"
Reads: we have no idea what to do with those guys, the rules are vaguely combat oriented with 'ere we go and high WS/ST/A and snazzgun's Assault... yet we know they'll suck because that's basically slugga boys stats for a 22 points model.
I will buy them, assemble them and paint them, which is all that matters for GWS because Matt Holland is a design genius... but I don't know how often I will field them because the rules-team is a wee bit inept at making their mind...
Flash gitz are lacking staying power dramatically and will need to be supported by:
- Transport
- Tanking Mega Armour IC
- Ruins
- strong KFF
the leaks don't mention any of that. The advise in the article are hollow and embarassingly stink of " you must write 100-200 words on those", so maybe next time don't bother writing non-sense and give us even more pictures.

It's entirely possible that a person would play multiple games from multiple companies - I play Khador, Circle Orboros, and orks. If my hobby budget for the month is $50, and I know Privateer Press is releasing a kit on the 5th, but Games Workshop might be releasing one on the 23rd... well, I might just go for the confirmed released over the "maybe".
If your hobby budget for the month is $50 then you're obviously working a minimum wage job and as such you're not Games Workshop's target market.
GW doesn't have a target market. It does no market research so how could it know what its target market is? Automatically Appended Next Post: Greyhound wrote:The pictures look awesome, and it's a must-buy kit but the article is VERY underwhelming.

Not to mention that them being locked in combat come your turn means they won't be shooting anything. Which means that the points to buy those expensive guns have been wasted that turn.
If you're paying the points for shooting then you want it shooting, not getting stuck in an assault.

The Kustom Mega Slugga is part 127 of the sprue, it's just a name for the gubin' on the snazzgun, nothing else.
The article is full of fancy names for the snazzies, but I don't think it's a new set of wargear.

This is the simplest problem to solve. Put 'em in their dedicated Trukk and get them to midfield ruins cover first turn (this should be easy as there are no longer any real rules as to how terrain is placed in 7th - you can make sure you have something handy every game for parking them in).

I mean, when you look at the 5th image on that link, they kind of all look the same: same pose for the Flash Gitz bodies, same basic piece for the gun bodies
I hope the FG bodies can, as usual for Orks, be put in many different poses
Probably use the same bodies as nobs.
One of the bodies is stated to have a bionic leg. And one of the images shows a ammo filled font chest piece. The new bodies will likely be more piratey and decked out with ammo.
edit: one also has a high collar/cowl which has to be part of the torso.

Exactly. Requiring two heavies to be useful killed them last edition.
I I have assaulted with flashgitz a few times. They are better at shooting now, making that less useful, but they end up with 40 S5 attacks, which is fantastic for driving the remains of a unit off an objective.

I can see something worth shooting at b. I will not block movement for other gits to move through - a unit of 10 with these fat bases will usually not be able to fully unload, unless I stick on the ground floor. Considering a trukk who pulls a handbrake move at the hand of the turn the best I can achieve is: [FG][FG][FG][FG][FG][FG][FG][FG][FG][FG] ........................................................... ............[.........Trukk...........] Right? So I need to have ruins specifically designed to host 10 40mm bases in a straight line on one level. I will do some trials at home tonight, but I'm not convinced that the citadel ruins would accomodate 10 Flash gitz within 4.5" of a parked trukk unless you build them with ladders every 40mm to allow gitz on different levels. So to summarise, this kind of move typically takes two turns: Turn1: you ride and unload, maybe 3-4 gits can shoot next Turn2: you move the gits into position, to correctly have all 10 with L.O.S. to the enemy (some gitz can stay where they are and shoot at BS3) Turn3: you finally get all your gitz shooting in ruins at BS3

So now that we know what the KFF will do, I'd like to know for certain what's going to happen with points costs. What with Flash Gitz getting reduced pretty substantially, it seems likely that Nobz will be cheaper as well, which would probably be part of a trend making Boyz cheaper as well. I know basic troops units saw a points reduction in other horde-focused armies like Tyranids and Guard, what's the community's thoughts on Boys becoming a point cheaper?

Rule/Tactical question: do you find it easy to do? My personal experience goes as follow (but maybe we're playing it wrong!, so please help)
- Start with the Gitz in a trukk
- Move 7" in a red trukk (at best), get the trukk in direct contact with the ruin, if need be drive in the ruin all together (reinforced ram)
If I were doing it, I'd place terrain right up to the midpoint of my side of the table and spend my first turn moving 12" and then going flat-out as much as needed right into 4" ruins, with the idea of disembarking and moving into position. You'll get a bit of help calling a Jink save if you go first, and make sure you take a Reinforced Ram for 12 front armor (assuming those rules don't change). Once the trukk is in place you simply move your Gitz into position then shoot. Every turn after that you have BS3 and should be in range to hit most stuff. This will force your opponent to try and keep his models out of Gitz range, either boxing them into a corner or driving them closer to your other threatening units (in my case, big 30-ork Boyz mobs with a KFF and big shootas).
Getting your Gitz from their trukk and into cover is easy: the trukk won't have to move as you will have Flat-Outted it (that's the term, look it up nerds) into the exact spot it needs to be in its movement to let your Gitz disembark right into the ruins. You can use a multi-level ruin model for this, as you can disembark 6", and going from one level to another is only a 3" move. It might not be a bad idea to model some 2-level ruins specifically for placing on your side of the table during games you know you'll have Gitz in.

The flash gits look good but there stats are bit meh for 22pts they lose there 4 up save but gain 2 more shots suppose put them in an open top battle wagon solves that but pricey.
The grot big guns look good and just what I wanted . All I ask is for is new buggies and pushing my luck here but new plastic tank bustas . think the new mega nobz look crap to static looking same reason why I hated the thraka model and refused to buy it.

I dunno, I think what each model is able to do seems like a good enough balance on its own - +1 attack in CC or slightly better shooting makes them balanced pretty well. 5pt boys would free up a lot of room for taking more things that would serve to balance the army out against other armies in 7th.

I know it's Forgeworld, but I'm thinking of 5 of these guys in a Battlewagon with a Supakannon and a Big Mek. Park it in some cover, hopefully, and unleash hell. That may not be effective (given the range disparity between the Supakannon and them), but I sure like the image of the Flash Gits in a wagon with the biggest gun around.
On the other hand, I did just get a Rogue Trader era battlewagon with a mast. Maybe time to hoist the Jolly Ork and go plundering instead.

Unfortunately it doesn't have full pictures of the sprue.
It LOOKS like it, but I can't confirm. Squidbot, can you chime in?
Does the sprue for the Flash Gitz have "clam shell" type bodies similar to the Nobz box (front and back torsos that are attached to the legs and snap together), or are the Torsos completely separate from the legs?
I love the new plastic Nobz that came out a few years ago, but I hate the clamshell design they used for them, because it makes conversions a lot more difficult. You can't easily swap out different legs and torsos. Seeing these Flash Gitz, I'm hoping they're not the same.

Holy crap, those Gitz are even better now that I've seen more pics. I thought there guns were stale - but it's literally a box you put bits on! It's the orkiest model you could imagine! It's going to become the new trukk kit - so versatile it can be used for conversions from A to Z. Or from Gork to Mork!
Plus:
Dynamic gitz anyone? Get out the basing materials, it's time to make a diorama!
I am going to buy the heck out of this kit - I can feel it already. I love building and converting robots, but giant guns I love more!
The only thing I have to say about this whole release: why couldn't they have painted the Flash Gitz yellow, or gold? They were the only models that would have held it wonderfully, but alas!

Waaagh! Warbiker

Squidbot has been giving us the right list of new models since the beginning:
The new mid size stompa thing looks like a pregnant Deff Dread. Comes with various weapon mountings, including what looks like a KFF.
Flash Gitz (They look particularly awesome, very much like Freebootaz with loads of variation in the kit).
Big Gunz. Total redesign.
New Gretchin models, including a grot oiler.
New mega nobs, not plastic versions of the existing.
Big Mek in Mega Armour with shoulder mounted weapons, maybe SAG but doesn't look like it.
Big Mek in mega armour with some interesting KFF like add ons.
Warboss is similar to the remodelling of the Helbrute from Dark Vengeance, it looks like a reworking of the AOBR Warboss with an attack Squig
New Pain Boy with a kind of Narthecium cybork hand.
So far, we've seen confirmation in WD of the first two, at the rate of 1 new model per week.
We've seen pictures of a few more, e.g. in the How to Paint guide + updated Mek with SAG + another "regular" Mek model, on the left side, just in front of the BigGunz.
We've seen no leaks from the Codex, and the scans from the upcoming WD do not make any references to the Codex either.
Question is: should we be prepared for a 4+ week release for the Orks?
Someone mentioned a long Ork release that could bring us to some Apocalypse release at the end of the month. Do we have any info about that?
I haven't followed very well the releases since early 2014, with GW new schedule ... is this something they have done so far (Wood Elves, Astra Militarum, ...)?
