Yeah, Metaloxide! You forgot the top two rules for complaining about 40k.

If you quit, you can no longer complain about it because you're not playing, so your points are meaningless.

If you are playing, you can't complain about it because you bought the stuff, and there's no complaining about things you've already bought!

Sums it up pretty well, doesn't it.

Yup! They just have to deploy 12 inches apart!

But yeah, I'm seriously, Free Booterz tend to be more pirates than mercs, but they do hire out, as do the blood axes. Which is why I miss IG being closer allies with Orks

I have to agree that I have yet to see an ork model I didn't want. Either to build as is or to hack into some great Mek Machine.

Of course people are allowed to complain, but if he stopped playing 2-3 years ago, and still complaining about the prices? You'd have thought he'd have moved on by now, if he had really stopped playing.

I was really hoping they would add grot tanks to the new codec but I haven't heard anything about that. Mostly I think the models would be a blast to build.

Forgeworld does Grot tanks so GW is unlikely to step on it's own sister companies toes....unless it's something that's sell's like mad.

That being said...the Flash Gitz are about the same price as the sternguard...but far more awesome looking because they be orks! So the price doesn't bug me at all...not when I can convert all me nobs as pirate orks with all the extra bitz and do an entire Kaptain Bludflag themed army....now...how to make me a spookums.

I want to love the Flash Gitz but $53 for 5 is killing my enthusiasm.

Lootas are 5 for $25.

Flash Gitz are slightly bigger Orks with Underslung guns, instead of over the shoulder dakka, fill a comparable role in the army, and cost more than twice as much.

Meh, the lootaz are my least favorite current ork model. The Flash Gitz were specifically designed to kit bash with the nob kit, so you can think of it as 10 gitz for $78. I think that is worth it for how awesome they are

Would I like them to be cheaper? Yes, of course, but:

Did GW:

Make models I really like?
Keep the look of new models consistent with other parts of the range?
Make models that totally fit the background?
Make rules that fit the background?
Give me loads of bits that are compatible across the Ork range?

I mean, sure, I would love it if you could choose to have Shoota gits with MOAR DAKKA, Burny Gits with great AP, or Boom Gits with tank-busting rokkits, so that I had a slightly better argument for three units of Flash Gits, each unit entirely equippped with one type of weapon, but GW knocked one out of the park on this. I'd love for them to cost less, but I have to admit, an inexpensive kit that didn't work across the range, or didn't look like Freebootas, or had inappropriate, counterintuitive rules (even if they were good--I'm looking at you, Hellguns), would have made me sad.

As a player, I'll never say something was too inexpensive, but if GW got this much right with every kit they released, I'd be much less bothered about their prices.

NEW ORK RUMOR GW to start charging Ork models on a dollar per point basis. Don't worry though, they are going to be fething awesome looking.

A valid complaint that unfortunately has a statute of limitations attached to it for most people.

Generally, the most outspoken detractors here have persistently proven - again and again - that Games Workshop is a metaphorical whore whose shallowness can no longer be beared and whose greed can no longer be afforded. One whose soulless addiction to money has cost it and its courters something that truly could have been beautiful.

Their reasons are sound and their evidence solid.

I mean that sincerely.

But let's imagine that same flavor and intensity of insoluble malcontent was consistently directed long-term toward a loved one like a friend or a mate instead of a hobby or a company.

In that scenario, how long is it considered healthy for either party to attempt to keep any kind of relationship?

Is the presumed healthy solution for one of these situations different for the other?

And, oddly, Games Workshop is even acting like a scorned or apprehensive lover. It has been gradually closing the lines of communication like a recent ex that won't answer the phone.

After all, at this point, what good would answering do?

At a certain stage, I'd assume it is time to cite irreconcilable differences and let each forge ahead with something or someone happier.

I'll shut up now. There's no place for this kind of stuff in any ork thread, and I am sorry for it.

I think they were rumored at 3 for 60, so a little cheaper than cents, but we will see.

This is dead on. WTH GW? just release the thing alright, no more one model a week.

Sorry <rant>
So, Flashgits look good, but not +10$/per good. Screw that. I can think of so many better places to put $53. So I guess I'll just get some nobs for $8 bucks and scratch build them. I'm sure they make them extraordinarily useful in order to sell them. WHich seems to be the norm. make something new, adjust the rules so they will be taken, then sell.

Seriously, I just want the codex so I can see the rules - and not an $85 hardback, but whatever. The gorkanaught thing is a cool idea, but maybe if everything was half the price of what it is... I mean orks ain't marines, they are easy to scratch build. A gorkanaught could be build pretty easily and a whole lot less that +$100.
</rant>

Just please put out the damned rules.

I'm actually disliking the gitz the more I look at them. They're really badly monoposed. Especially with ten of them or more. Every single one holding their gun the exact same way looking the same direction. Yes, some time with some green stuff and a knife can get some variation in there, but would it have killed them to make a slighty different pose? Not even space marines are so regimented

Well, I actually do love Games Workshop. I think that the prices are still reasonable given the scope and quality of what they provide. It's rare that you find both quantity and quality, much less this much. I know there are a lot of people that disagree with that notion of quality, but this is what I believe. And so the market has demonstrated that this is what most people who like these kinds of games believe. I'm speaking on behalf of others, who, by the way, are constantly reminded of their lost love due to the fact that Games Workshop owns such a majority that those who do not play are constantly exposed to it even if they no longer take part, due to the simple fact that these games are played at the same places. You do, however, have a point for those who continue to buy the product yet still complain about the price. They would be hypocrites by definition. And I doubt there are that many of them.

They're not that bad. They don't have room to do dynamic things with those oversized guns.

Part of the mono-pose is due to the gun customizing - all the guns need the same blank bits showing so that the various customising bits can be stuck on. That said, yes, it wouldn't have been so hard for GW to pose them e.g. one with gun pointing up, one pointing down, one reloading, or whatever. Personally I'll be combining my Gits kit with spare Nobs (and the bits box) and making myself a nice unit of 10 all with different poses.

I'm not going to say that they should or shouldn't have been posed differently because these are orks. There's just as much reason to pose them any way as there is another, but I can tell you this: duplicate models stand out less when the unit looks unified in action.

Agreed, or we will have the problem where all the new HQ units have one foot on a rock, making duplicates really obvious, or where the plasma gunner in the scions kit will all look the same unless you convert them. Its worse than if they just had neutral poses like they do now.
