You can also convert somewhat obscure/generic artillery pieces. As long as you let your opponent know what they are during the game and don't pull anything shifty most people will just think "cause orks".

i remember constantly telling my opponents what my orks were equipped with even when some of them were stock models. Some people just see orks and anything they bring like a tide of green models with rusty bits.

I just don't get it Privateer Press turns a box set into plastic adds the Weapon Attachments and the price goes down. GW turns a kit from metal to plastic and the price doubles??????
I really love my Orks I own roughly 8000pts worth of them but I am quickly loosening interest in anything GW.

So much this. If the new big gunz invalidate the small models for the original big gunz it's going to be a giant middle finger to everyone who has FW, old GW, or scratch built their own. Scratch builders can just.... ya know scratch build a bigger gun (or bulk up their existing model) but people who have the older legit model are SOL. I hope the new mek guns are the large models and the "big guns" are the same as before.

46 bucks for one. Its like GW hates money.

I don't think they "hate money", but there is something definitely driving prices that we can't see. Since the way prices have jumped on new kits since they started using that smaller tooling for making their molds I'm wondering if that has driven up the cost of the molds, and in turn the product's cost. It's just speculation but it correlates well.

It's probably the smaller tooling. It's better than price raises, anyway

There are no "big guns" anymore. These have the option of kannon and lobba, though no zzap option. They have been renamed Mek guns.

Ork Rumors / Supplement Rumors - Jun 2014
via DarkWarrior1981 on Warseer
I just recieved word from someone who works for GW (higher up, not a red/black shirt), that there will be a codex supplement called Waaagh Ghazgkull. Obviously, themed around the warboss we all know. The book is listed as codex orks supplement, but it is unclear at the moment, if it will be like Clan Raukaan (so you need the codex), or standalone linke Militarum tempestus. It will be released soon, I assume shortly after the codex. It appears, that both books are already in the warehouse waiting for the day of release.

He's got a good track record too.

Shouldn't be a problem really, using the older models.

You can probably still use the old tiny metal termies on 25mm bases in a tournie, because those were the bases provided and they are terminators.

Scratch builders though, may get some flack for smaller guns...

From the leaked WD pics, that's incorrect. The base options (no added points) are kannon and lobba. Zzap is 5 extra points. All the other options are 12 added points. Presumably, Zzap won't be as good as Smasha or Mega-Kannon, so it may change somehow, but zzap is still there as an option (whew, considering how many zzap guns I have in various places).

So what is the price on the big guns? I see two separate prices over and over. Is it $38?

It's $46. $38 was referenced by a rumor from the Grot website, but the White Dwarf confirmed the Mekgunz at $46.

Thank you for clarifying Accolade.

As much as I disregard complaints over price, that is a price I am not willing to pay. I bought a Gorkanaut, I bought two boxes of Flashgitz (well preordered them), I will not buy any big guns. With over 16,000 points in Orks, I don't have room or a need for them. But really, what an absurd price for such a small number of points. They are nice rule wise, but I can't justify the purchase. If I was just starting out with orks I can see them being an option I suppose, but even then there are far more important purchases one could make.

If the next WD is going to be the codex reveal, does that mean no new MANZ kit? Has there been any news for one?

I imagine that GW is saving some of the new releases for after the codex hits. MANz probably being one of them, since they're a great unit that hasn't seen new models in a long time.

We've seen signs of them in the Borkanaught WD and they could be in the release with the codex.

As a whole I have liked the models and the rule additions for this release. My only real issue is the price of the Gorkanaut (about $25 too high IMO) and the cost of the mek gun (about $23 too high).

Still, orks are one of the most complete and consistently good model lines in Warhammer.

Good news They've needed a new kit for a long time, and the old metal ones will cost a small fortune on eBay if you're looking for a decently sized squad.

I'm 99% certain that using older termies on tiny bases is 'technically' illegal, given base sizes can change with edition.

So far as older gunz go, I'm not terribly worried. I'll be using my standard sized kannons as just normal kannonz, and I'll be kit bashing / converting the rest of what I need.in one way or another.

The only thing they cant do is pen vehicles, but with the new vehicle dmg chart kannonz are not as good as they were in that area aswell

Kannons are still the most efficient way of glancing vehicles to death.

My 3 batteries of 3 Kannonz ea, were glance-killing 1 vehicle / turn the other weekend. Now they got cheaper, I'm stoked! Waaagh!!

I referred to the big guns to denote the difference between the lobba, kannon, and zzap gun from the new ones like the bubble blower. I know they all are under the mek gun entry.

Not when the rules tell you to use the base the model came with.

Makes Celestine a little funny, she comes with TWO bases these days.

Is that the new wording now?

Hm. Well that causes some new issues for abuse. I mean, what gets to determine "appropriate"? Especially with conversions and kitbashes, or old models.
