That SAG Mek is incredible, but oh my god the price. I'm not paying $37 for less than a dollar's worth of plastic on a single sprue.

Do we have any idea if the SAG has changed or just a new model?

I am unclear on this- is there still going to be a unit for Big Gunz? Or are they gone, replaced by the Mek Gunz (which are very similar in that both units are artillery)?

Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men.
Welcome to Fantasy 40k

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

Deffrollas have been standard on my wagons all though 6th, and they have always, ALWAYS, been worth it. Even when they aren't actually rolling deff, they make my wagons a much more valuable target to the enemy, and they also cause lots of pressure on the table. Murrdox, you actually prove my argument with your statement that the enemy just stays out of range. If they are being forced to stay out of range, then using the deffrollas actually gives you battle field control you otherwise wouldn't have. A definite advantage on the table.

I guess it depends on who you're playing with. You make a good point about Deffrollas putting pressure on your enemy to stay away from you. So even if you're not able to actually hit something with it, you're still getting some use out of it. I found that even without the Deffrollas, my opponents were backing away from my Battlewagons because they wanted to try and stay out of Assault range of the Boyz inside anyways. Without them though, my opponents were less frightened of the wagons, that's true.

My games with Orks in 6th were mostly against Space Marines, Tau, and Tyranids. I probably actually got to use a Deffrolla maybe once or twice... usually against a flying Tyranid that failed a grounding test too close to the wagons.

Once I dropped the Deffrollas, I equipped my wagons with a Kannon, 2 Big Shootas, a Reinforced Ram, and Red Paint Job. The Kannon is too good a weapon NOT to take, even with the Ork crappy ballistic skill. The Big Shootas were mostly on there to cause grounding tests on flying monstrous creatures, and to have a few extra shots to gun down Pathfinders in the first turn of the game. They actually really came in handy.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing what options the new Battlewagon will have.

ONE thing I'm very VERY happy about which will be going on ALL my Battlewagons (assuming they can take it) is Grot Riggers. A 4 Hull Point Battlewagon with It Will Not Die??!! YES PLEASE!

Huh, looks like I will buy just the one mek gun, to get the bits that are on there plus those grotz, I refuse to spend that much for so little more than once

I'll be getting that Mek as well, looks good and is neither finecast nor metal, which is a big plus in my book

Yah this kinda confuses me to. The old big-gun modles are going to look to pewny next to the new mek guns.

Could it still be the case that the Big Gunz will disappear from the website once the Codex is released? (i.e. they're trying to sell off what's left before then)

Maybe they will come out with a new kit for the old ones, it just wasnt mentioned in the WD because there is no rules change to them. Though it does suck they didnt include it one box

Why are the wheels on the kit FLAT?

Ugh. It makes the wheels from this kit very un-lootable for other projects, and frankly makes me want to replace them with normal wheels from the Trukk kit.

Sure, buy 2 Mek Gunz kits and you can build 1 new buggy !!

Seriously though, buggies are probably the number 1 scratch built thing in every ork players army. I can see why GW isn't too kean to make a new kit for them.

It might be a nice model, but £22.50 is just ridiculous!
Glad I don't play orks!
Also I've noticed that the face style has changed slightly - previously the faces were a bit more rounded but this fella has cheek bones that Anelina Jolie would be jealous of. Don't like it.
Also a couple of the grots on the gun doesn't quite look right.

Another point - what's GW doing by showing the same model with each of its separate configurations as separate items? It just seems silly to me. Maybe it's a gambit to confuse 'rents into to buying multiples of of the same model without realising it for little Timmy's birthday.

Likely to make them easier to part the thing on a flat surface (I guess).

I'd liked round wheels myself as well honestly.

Nope we have confirmation they are in the book and seen as these releases are to cover everything in the book they can't not have models. Chapter House lawsuit mean GW won't put out a book without everything in it apparently! So the old guns stay, didn't see that one coming either.

TBH for the same reason as the above if GW is serious about not leaving a gap in the market think they have to provide us with buggies. (I'm just hoping at this stage tbh)

Other than addition of the value of the extra crew models, these kinda seem like the Ork kit version of the Eldar support weapon box, only for nearly twice the price. One chassis, three barrels, etc.

Make me kinda wonder if they plan on ratcheting up the price of the Eldar support weapon...

Given that they don't even include stock lobbas, kannons or zzap guns I think I'll stick with kromlech guns for now. Especially since you can get 5 for 67 bucks in a deal they're having right now. Really makes the Mek gunz seem like a real rip-off.

I can only hope that if they don't put out newmodels for the old big gunz that the old models stay official, because all my scratch built kannons are the size of the old ones.

I was looking forward to the big gunz kit, I thought it would be worth buying just for the bitz but I've had a good look and frankly I think they got it completely wrong.
They've tried to make it a vehicle kit when it should have been more like an infantry kit.
Something like the flash gitz or the dark eldar hellions where you get five gunz per box on small carriages. All carriage parts could then have been different/interchangeable and you would be able to get the kind of variety you'd be expecting in a unit of five models.

thanks for the info!

however, the kromlech big gunz do not have enough bits and other orky stuff on the chassis, from my point of view

Have to assume the existing lobba/kannon models will continue, which does seem strange, given appropriate bits would not have been difficult to squeeze onto the new sprues, and with little design work - nearly all copied from the BW sprue.

The sprues aren't as 'generous' as I'd hoped - not a problem for my own planned conversions as I have a well-stocked bits box, but still disappointing.
