Because we have a thread for the Taurox already, but I am wondering what people think of the new Stormtroopers.

They are sooooo gooooood. I wants them. I don't know if they'd fit into my Ork army, though

Sexy.

If a sizable amount of them didn't cost an arm and a leg, I would make heavy use of them even if just for conversions in the army I am making since they fit the theme quite well.

I do like them. I have 50+ metal Kasrkin, but practically no Sergeants...so that's how my three Scion boxes are going to be set up.

Most are going to be Sergeants for Scion squads and a few are going to be worked into Command Squads for the Platoons.

On moon miranda.

Do I like the models?

Yes, the new Scions look very cool. EDIT: though they could be a little less "bling"-ey or less "medieval plate" look, though that may just be the paintjob.

Do I like the name? No, Imperial Stormtrooper was way cooler than "Tempestus Scion".

Do I like the price? No, especially not when Forgeworld Death Korps Grenadiers are cheaper and when the metal Kasrkin were way cheaper and are now gone apparently.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Yes I do. The only mini I would not use as a Stormtrooper is the one with the coat on his shoulders, speaks more to me as to be used for a Commissar.

I can see a squad or two for my allied guard lists.

The coat is actually a 'set' of three parts that goes over top of any of the torsos you want, judging from the sprue breakdown.

I think they are alright. I still would've preferred plastic Kasrkin.

I would have preferred plastic Kasrkin as well(as if the avatar doesn't give it away ), but I can see why they would rather go for the "Stormtroopers"(make no mistake, that's what the Scions are. The background of orphans raised at the Schola Progenium seems to be unchanged, it's just a new name) to be something that look visually distinctive and do not fit specifically with any one Guard regiment.

Stormtroopers have always been kinda/sorta Imperial Guard but not. Kasrkin are a very distinctly Cadian thing, they're heavily armored shock troops that could be used as Stormtroopers but they're not intended to be supersneaky SpecOps styled guys like the descriptions we get of the Scions/Stormtroopers.
They're intended to be the bulwark of a Cadian force, the guys who wade into the thick of it and don't stop going until they're dead.

The same can be said of Death Korps Grenadiers.

Yeah, it's worse in Canada... luckily I can buy proxy guard cheap. I like the Scions, but the breastplate's a little goofy looking. Other than that though, I'd probably buy some if they didn't cost so much.

Buttoned up "jacket"+the "waistcoat" legs from the Cadian Command Squad with the greatcoat bits over top of it could look nice for a Commissar.

When I get my stuff on Saturday I'll try some testfits to see how it looks if you're interested.

I think they are extremely sexy and they probably come loaded with bitz of all kinds.

Seems like a "win" to me.

I find them a bit too bulky and the trims look out of place. The chest plate reminds me a bit of SM power armour.

I like the models, but it's simply not how I would imagine them.

Really cool models, too expensive when put next to cadian or catachan command squads. The rules are sadly terrible, so they're great for converesion and count as but if you actually plan on running stormtroopers err.. scions, a mighty narrative will forge you not.

They're cool, but the model design makes them look like they belong in a Chaos army. Brass trim and pointy arrows shouldn't be a part of the Imperium.

I think they look awsome, especially with the beret heads. Since you get something like 9 beret heads I'm considering doing a regiment with all beret heads supported by helmeted tempestus scions.

My armies:

Erik Morkai's great company 6k
dark mechanicus, the dearth of hope, 8k

I like the renaissance look to them. It looks like they've 40k-ed up the sardaukar from the dune miniseries:

I like the direction, but I'm not 100% sold on the execution.

That said, I think that this is an absolute gold mine of bitz and kitbashing potential. I could easily see this being kitbashed with empire greatswords, for example, where you could get the real (instead of bad) breastplates, and have even poofier hats and sleeves to emphasize the renaissance angle even more.

Regardless, I can easily see doing bitz orders. The stilettos and the beret heads could easily find their way into my guard army, for example.

I'm glad my thread on the Taurox has company

I really like the stormtroopers. I think they did a really nice job on these. The masks look great, the armour isn't like anything else I've seen and the guns are cool. They look quite alien at first glance, but then you see their legs and you remember they are human.

I particularly like the lenses on the face.

I like the new STORMTROOPERS, but I'm not sure I would spend the money to get them.

But then again, I really liked the Kasrkin, and probably would have actually paid Scion prices for a plastic Kasrkin box..
