What material are the bristles made of? I've come to swear only by Kolinsky Sable, it's some damn fine arctic weasel fur!

Your table looks fun, a drab urban block thoughtlessly plunked into the heart of an alien wilderness, sounds pretty Imperial to me

Glad to hear you are having fun with the new rules and new codex, people tend to gripe, sounds to me like you're 'doing it right'

Of course Darkies are usually a bad match for the Buganids what with all of the poison!

Oh yeah, if you don't mind... did anything happen to the balance of raiders/venoms? Are venoms still the go-to craft for spammy lists of doom, or did they get a price hike somewhere? Obviously your cult dudes will have always favored the raiders but y'know.

The brush bristles are made from Red Sable. (I'm no expert, but these aren't far off Kolinsky standard from the look of them)

I'm a firm believer of 'try before you cry' where rules are concerned.

I managed to strip a fair few wounds off the Tervigon with my Razorwing- 5 outta 6 wounds! Disintegrators are nasty! To be honest, I usually run with Raiders but I thought I'd try something new this time around.

Venoms no longer have access to some of the upgrades such as Night Shields (which now provide Stealth and Shrouded rules instead of silly reduction of ranged weapons), Torment Grenades, Shock Prow (seriously, why would you ram something with a light vehicle like that?!) and Splinter Racks (not much room on the Venom for lots of ammo anyways). They still come with Flickerfields though.

Raiders now come with Disintegrators (still 36" S5 AP2 Hvy 3) as standard and the Lances are 10pt upgrades. I kept mine with the Disintegrators and did not regret it at all. Lotsa pew-pewing. Splinter racks now apply to ALL splinter class weapons. Haven't quite managed to get raiders close enough to try shooting like that. I probably need to move them further in the opening turns.

Worst moment of the game so far (finishing later this week).Losing my Razorwing to GOD DAMN SNAP SHOTS FROM fething DEVILGANTS!

Best moments of the game so far: hammering the Tervigon to near-death with the Razorwing and having my Dark Artisan formation (1 Haemonculi, 1 Talos and 1 Cronos) go lay the smackdown on a Trygon. Murdered that stupid thing!

Oh well night shields sound fairly useful then!

Oh wow splinter racks for splinter rifles? Maybe my classic 3e warrior overload could be useful

Devilgaunts rule, they harsh out the bullet storm.

Yeah it didn't help that I failed my stealth cover save for the Razorwing. My pilot was stupidly flying with the top down for this battle, and thus ended up having lots of devourer worms entering the cockpit and crashing the plane. I suppose I was asking for it when I named it Starscream lol.

I guess, but stripping 5 wounds off a MC isn't bad going for 1 turn.

Oh nope, I always liked the idea of taking one of those in anti-infantry load-out. Let the s9 void lances on the bomber do the tanks and such.

As it happens, they did get a Voidraven bomber model for 7th edition. Which is fething huge and comes with some interesting weapon options.

Oooh fancy. Is it 30-something% larger than the other one? Seems it costs that way.

Does look pretty fancy, I may someday pick up a DE flyer just to paint it cause they look so cool.

Larger wingspan to accommodate the quad engines, and weapons. Has x2 missile pods on the belly and that Void Mine, which you can have as stowed or ready to deploy when you assemble it. As well as the wing mounted twin void lances/dark scythes (basically a really big Blaster weapon)

All that cool stuf and still only two cockpits , you'd think they'd need at least space for four plus all their evil s and m stuff.

I'm sure they save all that for when they return from a raid lol.

I dunno man... the Darkies are preeety hedonistic, literally getting high off of the pain of those around them and eating souls of their victims mid-battle. I'm sure some of them have their ball-gags and riding crops (and more advanced dark eldar S&M gear) at the ready while they go out for dinner and a show (IE: surface raid).

THEN they go home and do it all again

Bit hard to focus on killing stuff when you're doin that lol. They do however, have hooks and barbs in their armour to sharpen their senses when in combat. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

That's why they do it, gotta live on that daggers edge and be razor sharp. Only way they feel alive. Etc.

I *need* to stop hanging around here...

I've got too many darkies laying around... it would be far too easy to start back working on them.

Any idea what Kabal you'd paint them as? Some really nice schemes. The Flayed Skull kabal looks especially cool.

Do realize that I'd be doing mostly 3rd ed models as that's what I've got and I'm on a self-imposed hobby budget freeze

I haven't looked at the newer schemes lately. I was thinking actually If I were to do them I might steal an idea from my current project. Paint them silver then use Blood for the Blood God in a couple of layers to get a medium-dark metallic red for the armor, do delicate black lines in all of the creases and stuff for definition, and then either traditional black evil/space/spandex-cloth parts, or maybe very dark grey or so. Sickly purple splinter crystals probably to go with the red theme. Kabal of the Life Drinkers Wyches would be the cult (or is it a different word) of the Dark Lust, and they'd be pink, not necessarily breast cancer awareness ribbon or bubblegum pink, but a kind of pink, pale skin, old school gladiator wyches or bust. Coven stuff would be maybe black with red or purple tabards.

Basically metallic red for the main force and everything else is within a step of that, either pink or purple.

Vehicles would be... interesting. Not sure what would happen when I tried to thin BftBG into a consistency such that it would be airbrush viable.

Wow... I think I've put entirely too much thought into this already...

Huh that's pretty cool, I like it. I'm not sure if I could get myself to paint an entirely red army without some kind of gimmick though.

Is that a new Kabbalite warrior? He doesn't look thaaat much better than my old 3e dudes.

Much more poses this time around instead of the squatting stand from 3rd.. though GW appears to have gone for the boring ones on their website.

Oh I know how much cooler the new stuff looks. I seriously considered it back when it first came out. I don't think I can buy anything else from GW from a real, honest, gaming stand point. I could see buying a single box of kaballites, well a single box of anything and that being it. More than one box I mean, just not in the degree that you'd need to fuel an army. Too expensive...

If I could ever resolve it in my mind that I was buying the models just to paint them, then I would probably get some of the new stuff. But as long as I'm still stuck on buying field-able battle-ready armies, there's just no way I can let myself at the newest DE stuff cause I'd go into debt

Oooh yeah those are nice. I also applaud your use of a power lance on the commander of a mostly shooty unit, definitely a fluffy and visually appealing choice

Well jump units now get a special "Hammer of Wrath" attack to give the impression of that unit slamming into an enemy from the sky which is resolved at initiative 10. Plus power lances give you +1 Strength on a successful charge. And given they're all Initiative 5 you're generally pretty quick in close combat anyways.

Did jump infantry have HoW in 6th too? I only got to play a few games and never used any such units then.

Scourge seem like one of those units that you could do some pretty neat things with but that the internet at large dislikes because they aren't 'the best unit evar'. I'm sure there are occasions that even these s3 t3 models can swoop down and make a difference.

Can they take haywire grenades?

Made in gb
Grim Dark Angels Interrogator-Chaplain

Yes they did.

No haywire grenades- just haywire blasters. Which are nice cause they're Assault and not Heavy and they don't roll for armour penetration like other weapons do.

Yeah that's how they were in 6th too. Haywire 'nades would have made them that much better, but then what would wyches do? Certainly not fight things in cc, that's no good

Well they- the Scourges get plasma grenades, while only S4 AP4 they are quite good at killing things in my experience.

Wyches do now? But they still get haywires right? That was my go-to solution for tanks of all sizes, and the only real use for my wyches at that.
