A mining Facility would be an excellent game board. dont forget to grab some model train tracks for the mine cars and make a good slag pile for cover as well.

The stripes on the back piece denote a Knight's rank in their House. This one is a Baron (as close to a Lord as I could get for this House Stark knight!). I don't think I'll be calling him Robb, Eddard, Brandon, Benjen or Rickard lol. Bad luck!

More Kinigit progress

More recess shading, and more layering mostly. Added Ushabti bone to the gunshield on the heavy stubber and avenger gatling cannon. Debating if I should leave it as Ushabti bone or give it some Warpstone Glow as well. Also debating the Reaper chainsword colour scheme. Considered using the classic hazard stripes, but I think it'd look a bit off from the rest of the model. Might just build up the casing with Ironbreaker, then highlight with Runefang and give it a glaze of Guilliman Blue for that Valyrian Steel sorta vibe?

C&C welcome.

Thanks for viewing

If you want stripes on the chainsword, with the rest of that scheme black and white would actually work, and give you a great canvas for striking weathering and gore.

Knocking it out on that Knight. I'm jelly of your terrain, I only got a bit that was included in the main pledge level for DZ:I and seeing it up close I wish I had 2-3 times that amount. Really handy versatile stuff.

Cheers folks

Not had any time to paint this weekend so Knight remains at the stage above.
However, I did manage to get a game of AoS in yesterday. My Stormhost vs my brother's Khorne Bloodbound. We played a scenario called The Ritual from the first AoS book. My Stormcast had to defend the Dragonfate Dais from the Khornate war band. Each of my turns I rolled a D6 and made a note of the result. I have to hold the Dais until I reach a total of 20. The result of the D6 can get a +1 modifier if you have a Wizard or Priest within 6" of the ritual site. My brother has to stop the ritual by reaching the Dais and smashing it on a roll of 2+ (the D6 result for him is also modified by +1 if he has a Priest/Wizard)

Will post a few pics later today.

Sorry for the inactivity of late, folks. Life interfering a fair bit. Ughhhh FFS.

Anyways, long story short re the pics for the battle I had the weekend before last- my phone's brain fell out and decided it would feel better if it just wiped everything and factory reset. And the damn thing hadn't backed itself up since Apr 30th so... yeah. FUBAR.

BALLS.

In the slightly more positive news, my copy of Silver Tower arrived on Friday and I've just this very evening managed to sit down and build a few. Absolutely cracking plastic gubbins. GW really are knocking it out of the park these days with the casting quality. Tzaangors, Horrors, and the Skaven Deathrunner are a delight to assemble. At most, you're looking at 3/4 components for the larger models(non-character) and 1-2 for your small stuff.

Haven't got round to heroes yet, but here's a comparison pic of a Tzaangor next to his Bestigor cousin. Not quite as much of a muscle bound beast as his Undivided companion, but very lean-limbed.

I will post more lovely stuff when my brain isn't empty.

**Edit: More stuff.

Can pretty much do that right now tbh. Mega bundle on the app (20GBP I think) nets you 37 heroes plus skills pack and treasure pack.

The rules for the Silver Tower models in AoS are pretty cool as well. Gaunt Summoner can have 4 familiars with him, and if he takes wounds in the combat phase, he can choose to let them take the hits.
Can't wait to play this game

Trying so hard to resist buying. Not really into the fantasy side (AoS or WHFB) but both the sculpts and the dame itself look pretty damn fine. Can see myself getting it down the line sometime.....once I've got the backlog cleared and Titan bought maybe. Lol. Now get painting AoV!!!!

The Silver Tower stuff is really amazing. There's such a backlog of GW stuff I want to buy!

That AoS scenario you played sounds awesome by the way, I do enjoy interesting mission mechanics.

Usually our games involve just killing each other in a meat grinder, but we have been dabbling in scenario based play recently. Much more interesting.

Silver Tower stuff is brilliant. The Gaunt Summoner is quite dainty though. That dagger and flame piece is pretty delicate so I had to be very careful with cleaning the flash lines off it.

Bugger it... primed up my Sigmar priest. Didn't manage to get him primed all the way since the texture paint hadn't dried up.

On top of that, I got myself the Mighty Heroes expansion for Silver Tower... Pretty sweet deal for £30.00 (at least £80RRP bought individually) when buying this lot alone would've been a good few quid more. GW even went and re-cut that Sorcerer Lord for a round base, which was nice cause chopping up a scenic square base is a pain(did that for my Beastmen Bray Shaman)

Will be using the lantern from the Knight-Venator dual kit as part of a conversion for my Lord Castellant conversion (Halberd, lantern and Gryph hound fellow). Knight-Venator has a pretty kickass set of rules. His Star-fated arrow skill allows you to sacrifice your usual 3 shots for 1, but it does D3+3 damage. If the target has the HERO or MONSTER keyword, the damage is D6+3 damage instead (potentially an insta-kill). Since his arrows have a -1 save modifier (Rending) that can be pretty devastating to your opponent.

Oddly though, only his pet eagle can make melee attacks :/ (which to be fair deals out 3 attacks and causes -3 Rending if you hit on 6s)

Had a bit of a mess around with my Stormcast Prosecutors, to see if I could get them to look something like how they're described in the fluff. No photoshop used here, the pic just came out that way by being too close to the light. But it does look fething awesome.

Paints:
2 layers of Ceramite White and a wash of Guilliman Blue, followed by a dry brushing of White Scar.

He's also a good bit bigger than most of the other infantry sized Skaven models. I don't think it's scale creep though, just allowed more freedom now they don't have to rank up.
Also- You can't see it in the pic, but at the end of his tail, he's holding a throwing star lol. I might paint some Nurgles Rot on to it for that poisoned look.

That is a very nice mini, are there 2 or 4 in the set? Good WIP too, any ideas of how you are going to do the Silver Tower bases?

There are 2 Deathrunner models. But there's only actually 1 Deathrunner in game. The 2nd model is played as an illusion, so you have to roll to see if you're going to hit the real Deathrunner or not.

Just going to keep it simple- textured paint plus a wee bit of base decor. Might do something different for the Gaunt Summoner though.

I had a bit of a play around last night to learn the rules a bit. Very easy to get into. Though I have a feeling Tzaangors are going to be badass in a fight. I was learning about the adversary phase whereby, the Rune Marked player activates any enemies that appear. Only ended up with one Tzaangor with dual weapons. No biggy I think to myself.
Hero phase: My dwarf rolls to attack and inflicts 3 wounds. The Mistweaver inflicts 1. Need 5 to kill it.

Adversary phase: So being the rune marked player, I (the dwarf) roll on the behaviour chart and he attacks the nearest hero. In this case, it's the Doomseeker (dwarf). 4 attacks instead of 2 as he has dual weapons. On top of that, every successful wound they get, the Tzaangor will try and bite you. Thankfully I managed to save all but one attack, but if these guys appear en masse it could be a very different story!!

It puts the lotion on its skin...
I mean I'm building up the skin tone for the Skaven Deathrunner with Cadian Fleshtone after the all-over wash of Agrax Earthshade. That tail is going to be a pain to do though methinks.

So here in jolly Britain we're having a nice bit of 25°C summer heat, which is both a blessing and a curse. No sleep at night and unbearable humidity in the day.
This Sunday just gone, my brother and I delved into the depths of the Gaunt Summoner's Silver Tower. Our first trial, to obtain the first piece of his amulet that, fully restored, would reveal his True Name.
The Trial of Hysh (Realm of Light)took a good few hours to play through for our first attempt at the game. It was then that we realised, just how much replay value this game has. The possibilities are pretty huge, and you can get some really brutal destiny phases.

The destiny phase plays out like this- you roll the 5 purple d6 and discard any doubles or triples results and keep the unique results. Doubles or triples 1s/6s will result in an unexpected event which results in booby traps/more enemies. 2,3,4 or 5s has a familiar coming to meddle/buff the enemy.

One particular destiny roll resulted in the Ogroid blocking our way through a corridor and then having 4 of his Tzaangor buddies come help him out. My brothers Darkoath Chieftain got bludgeoned to near-death by him. I managed to heal him up though before my Warpriest took a few too many hits from an axe wielding Tzaangor and his friend with a khopesh and shield.

Anyways, the remaining destiny dice that haven't been discarded are placed in the centre of the renown tracker. You can use these at pretty much anytime. So say you've run out of action dice, and need to kill something. Use a destiny die. Obviously if you get all 6s or whatever, that counts as a triple and a double. No quadruples or quintuple shenanigans.

Seriously, if you're considering getting this, you should. I had such a great time with it.
