IG are battle brothers with Space Wolves.

Say I take an IG IC (like a Lord Commissar) and stick him to an allied squad (say, a unit of Longfangs). Can I use my Company Commander to issue an order to the Commissar (who is a model from the AM codex) and give him the order to "Bring it Down", and then the Commissar will gain this special rule, but per definition now the entire Longfang squad will have it too?

Are orders assigned to units or models?

Codex: AM wrote:To issue an order, declare the order your officer is attempting to issue and select a single friendly non-vehicle unit from Codex: Astra Militarum that is within 12" of the officer

In your example, the Lord Commissar is now, for all rules purposes, counted as part of the Space Wolves unit - so you'd be unable to issue an order to them.

Can you ally Space Marine Captain to a unit of Vets, issue the order to the vets and then have the unit test on the SM Cap'n Leadership? Would the Cap'n benefit from the orders?

Good question. A Tank Hunters or Ignores Cover conversion beamer would be pretty badass from an IC Master of the Forge.

That was my thought exactly. I don't have the codex on me right now (it's at home), but I think this would work. If the IC is considered to be part of the unit for all rules purposes.

Or you can do the same with a Chapter Master. Imagine that orbital bombardment going off ignoring cover and being able to re-roll failed armor pens. Like a mini deathstrike

But don't worry, I'm sure if they FAQ it they will screw the IG over and say something like non-IG models cannot benefit from orders even if joined to an IG unit (as per the old FAQ).................

And the old FAQ did not allow using an allied ICs LD for orders. So that's probably a no as well.

Dunno. They just gave guard the buffing of a lifetime, presumably to make people stop talking about the name change. I don't expect them to lift a finger in negativity for the guard until their next codex, lest people remember they were annoyed about that.

?? Buffing of a lifetime? Nope, not even close.

Cheaper tanks, cheaper infantry, dirty Wyverns, Ignores Cover, Universal precision shot, psykers for prescience everywhere, some nice buffs for Techpriests and Servitors, cheaper vehicle armament, some cheaper special weapons, cheaper docterines.

Everything got better or stayed the same, with the exception of Demolishers and (arguably) Summary Execution.

We're just going to have to disagree. I've got Griffons and a Colossus that I can't use any more, psyker battle squad got nerfed into Wyrdvanes or whatever. Yes, we got some improvements. But it's not all that great. I was kind of hoping to get something like the old doctrine system back. But anyways, we're getting off topic.

So back on topic. Given that the old IG FAQ is now superseded, I suppose you could actually get away with both using allied IC LD and letting him benefit. At least until they FAQ it again.................
