Hello everyone!
I'm trying to come up with a competitive list of White Scars, ATM I'm aiming at a 1000 points list, upgradeable to a 1850 and up.
The local meta is:

2 Vanilla SM (one Ultramarine)
1 Chaos/Demons (Nurgle or Undivided)
1 Space Wolves
2 IG
0-1 Eldar
0-1 Tau

This is the starting list

+++ 1000pt Space Marines: Codex (2013) v60 Roster (Primary Detachment)) +++

Selections:

Space Marines: Codex (2013) v60 (Primary Detachment) Selections:

+ (No Category) +

* Chapter Tactics
White Scars

+ HQ + (255pts)

* Chapter Master (255pts)
Artificer Armor (20pts), Auspex (5pts), Bike (20pts), The Shield Eternal (50pts), Thunder Hammer (30pts)

+ Troops + (370pts)

* Bike Squad (Troops) (135pts)
2x Grav-gun (30pts) (Graviton), 4x Space Marine Biker (84pts)
* Biker Sergeant (21pts)
Bolt pistol

* Bike Squad (Troops) (135pts)
2x Grav-gun (30pts) (Graviton), 4x Space Marine Biker (84pts)
* Biker Sergeant (21pts)
Bolt pistol

* Scout Squad (100pts)
4x Combat Blade (*), 4x Scouts (44pts)
* Land Speeder Storm (45pts)
Cerberus Launcher, Heavy Flamer, Jamming Beacon
* Scout Sergeant (11pts)
Shotgun

+ Fast Attack + (275pts)

* Attack Bike Squadron (165pts)
3x Attack Bike w/ Multimelta (165pts)

* Stormtalon Gunship (110pts)
Twin-Linked Assault Cannon, Twin-linked Heavy Bolter

+ Heavy Support + (100pts)

* Thunderfire Cannon (100pts)

I'm quite dubious about the Eternal Shield, maybe I can swap it for a Storm Shield (losing Eternal Warrior) and adding more bikes to the squads for ablative wounds or some weapons on the Stormtalon.
Thanks in advance!

At a 1000 points I think the chapter master is a bit too much, he eats up more than a quarter of your list. I'd go with Khan and get another Thunder Fire Cannon.
The attack bikes are fine I guess, although I'd take speeders instead, but that might be just preference.

edit: And yeah you totally want some weaponry other than the heavy bolter on the stormtalon, the 15pt missiles are the #1 choice.

I just checked and i can't fit another thunderfire, i'm over by 10 points, don't know if it's legal... with the nerfing of vehicles don't you feel the land speeders would be a lilttle weaker than attack bike, since bikes auto generate their cover save with Jink and speeders would be glanced to death by boltguns?Plus the attack bikes can be screened by the other squads...
The Chapter Master was my beatstick to take down enemy HQs, I don't feel Khan can put out that much raw power... What type of HQs can I come up against at 1000 points?

Wrote up a list I would play if I had enough bikes (which sadly I don't :( )

Chapter Tactics: White Scars

HQ: Khan + Moondrakkan

Command Squad (5): Apothecary, 5x grav gun, bikes

Troops:
Bikers (5) 2x grav
Bikers (5) 2x grav
Scouts (5) 4x combat blade, shotgun, Landspeeder, Heavy flamer

Fast: Stormtalon, Skyhammer missiles

Heavy: Thunder Fire Cannon

Any beatstick hq your opponent can come up with, which Khan can't beat to death, kill it with grav!

I'm at 990, so you can sprinkle some melta bombs here and there. Are you sure you haven't forgotten to take the points for the apothecary?

No, I've taken it...
Command Squad+Apothecary(bolt pistol,chainsword) 4x grav +bikes @210
Khan @150
2x grav bike squads @270
Scouts+Speeder @100
StormTalon w/missiles @125
Thunderfire @100

I don't think you can get a grav gun on the apothecary...
Maybe you got some weapons on the sarges?

I don't think I understood your question...do you mean the command squad or the bike squad? in either case:
"Any Veteran may take items from the Melee Weapons and/or Ranged Weapons lists." under the command squad entry.
"Up to two Space Marine Bikers may each take one item from the Special Weapons list." under the bike squad entry.

EDIT: unfortunately the Apothecary has been FAQ'd and he can't take a grav gun,so there are 4 grav boys and a bolt pistol+chainsword boy.

As a DA player I salivate over those grav guns. Would really have come in handy against some Nurgle terminators I didn't have the firepower to reliably bring down.

Someone can tell if this list is tuned enough for my local meta?

I've not run WS (or played amny games against some of those armies) so I'm not sure I can really answer. I do know that the T5 bikes give you a survival upper hand against standard boltgun marines shooting at S4.

[url]I love my 'Scars! I usually play a minimum of 1750pt games, for 1000pts it depends on the battle:

for objective catching
Kor'soro,
2 bike squads, vet sgt, MB, 4 bikers, GG+MG, MM attack bike
3 scout squads,Sgt, 4 scouts, 4 SR, ML+flack MM LS Storm

last man standing
Kor'soro
CCsqd, Apoc, champ {lance), 3 vets 3GG
3 bike sqds
2 vet sgt (lance, MB) 4 bikers GG+MG, MM attack bike
1 vet sgt (lance, MB) 4 bikers MG+MG, MM attack bike

I try to keep fluffy, or at least how I imagine the 'Scars rock, I try to never take any heavies, no thunderfires, dreadnoughts, tanks or aircraft. Sometimes the campeign forces me to use some, but for heavies/tanks etc I would only take sabre tankhunters, for aircraft usually a stormeagle or stormtalon, but only in big games.

I currently have fun using this list for whitescars:

Khan

5 man bike squad - 2x grav gun, 1x combi-grav, melta bomb
5 man bike squad - 2x grav gun, 1x combi-grav, melta bomb
5 man bike squad - 2x grav gun, 1x combi-grav, melta bomb
5 man bike squad - 2x meltagun, 1x combi-melta, melta bomb
5 man bike squad - 2x meltagun, 1x combi-melta, melta bomb
5 man bike squad - 2x flamer, melta bomb

Bike are the best thing in your army, so why skimp on them. 30 bikes in 6 scoring units is quite difficult for many armies, especially with scout.
The special weapons cover all bases. Melta bombs might be overkill, so can be taken out and the points used elsewhere.

(If your local players are using the inquisitors codex to bring servo skulls, then khan can be swapped out for a captain with a bike and 40 points of wargrear, as scout will be of less worth.

Edit: This list is 1000 points btw.

You're right, bikes are the unit which benefit the most from CT.
I was particularly worried about matches against IG, since i he seems the most skilled player and IG can make me fail my armor save by weight of fire. I feel that a thunderfire would come in handy against blobs of infantry in cover, especially since I lose the bonuses from charging through cover terrain.

Edit:
I like your list, its a bit light on antitank for my liking, but, I'm going to copy it in my games for the next few weeks, see how I play with no attack bikes or speeders, I will also see what the loss of veteran on the sergeant does to my cc rolls. Will keep this thread posted on the trials.

I'm glad you like it. But really? I'm surprised, sometimes I feel like it has too much anti tank. I mean you have 2 meltagun squads for the really tough things, and gravguns have the potential to hurt any vehicle in the game. Everyone has krak grenades + a str 5 HoW hit in cc as well, which can easily wear down vehicles with AV10 rear armour.

I'll probably take the melta bombs out in the future and do something else with the points. More wargear for a captain perhaps, or another bike for the flamer squad who usually ride with khan.

I guess this depends on what is in your meta though.

I will also see what the loss of veteran on the sergeant does to my cc rolls.

Whitescars imo can get by well enough with their str5 HoW hits, without relying on sergeants with extra attacks.

A question: if I charge a vehicle does the HoW resolve agains rear armor?

I believe it acts exactly as a hit in close combat, so it would hit the rear armour. I haven't seen anything that suggests otherwise.

As I said I usually play 1750+ pts. Common army I face is an armoured battle group:
Command Russ
6 Russ in 3 squadrons
armoured fist command squad
3 armoured fist squads

7 main battle tanks and 4 armoured transports.

Its difficult to get even 'Scars within meltagun range, you would be facing 7 battlecannon, 21 heavy bolters, 4 multi lasers and 11 heavy stubbers, not counting the firepower of the "squashies". I feel I need the extra range of the AB MM and the DS ability of MM LS!

Fortunately my enemies seems more infantry-oriented! Thus far i've seen only soldiers and one vendetta still on construction, but this list makes me want to play something that deepstrikes...i think some Land Speeders are the way to go
