Hi all, I was wondering if anybody knew if there were any bits out there that would help me to create a mesoamerican themed space marine army. being of Aztec descent i thought it would be really cool to have an army that had the likes of Eagle and Jaguar warrior among the top ranks of my army and have the rest of the units have some matter of feathers adorning weapons or armour.

Best bet would be to have a gander at the Lizardman range. Plenty of Aztec inspired stuff there.

Those are some nice models, do you know if they sell individual bits from the models or will I have to purchase a model and steal the bits from it?

Does anybody know of anywhere I can obtain feathers that are about the size of purity seals?

Bits stores are probably your best bet for GW pieces. Alternatively you could probably do a greenstuff press mould for quite effective feathers.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

How would I go about that? I've never used greenstuff or anything of the like before. is there a tutorial that you recommend?

Yeah as Flinty said, Bitz stores are going to be your best bet if you don't want to buy the whole battalions. Ebay would also be another option.

There are also these "Steel Crow" heads.

I'm not sure if they fit marines or regular humans, but may be worth checking out.

As for the feathers, that one's a harder. I'm not really sure where you'd get a ready supply of loose feathers. You may end up having to sculpt them yourself.

Ah, I guess I will scour ebay and find some bits stores then. As for the greenstuff suggestion, is there any tutorials that are reccomended for beginners?

For a press mould, there should be plenty of tutorials on youtube, and I'm sure tehre are a few on the Tutorials section of this board.

Basically you model the thing you want lots of and press it into a small block of greenstuff. After the GS cures, take out the original and then you can press new bits of GS into the hole you've made to replicate whatever it is you were trying to replicate. It pretty much only works on things that are one sided and relatively small, but if you;re after feather versions of purity seals, then it seems like an ideal method to use.

I will definitely invest in some lizardman bits, they will contribute greatly to the theme of my army. Thank you to all who pointed me in the right direction
