Hey guys
so ive been watching some battle reports on youtube and every time i see wraithguard get assaulted, there rolling for something called wall of flame. Now am i being stupid/ blind but i cant find this rule anywhere in the codex and goggle dont seem to have a clue.
The rule seems to be anything that assaults them take a D3 (per model) wound strength 6? Something like that.
Please let me know what the hell is this rule and could you let me know if its anywhere in any type of rulebook
thanks

It's just overwatch with template weapons. Wraithguard are very good at it because they're a unit where every model has a template weapon with amazing stats, so anything charging the unit takes a lot of casualties.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

But mind you its only Wg with d scythes, Wg with cannons still only get their assault 1 shots hitting on 6s.

The rule is under template weapons I think. Rules for overwatch have a reference to it with a page number, if I remember correctly.
Basically it boils down to - don't charge units with flamethrowers, and *especially* don't charge Wraithguard with D-Scythes. 5 of them means 5 x D3 S10 AP1 automatic hits. Everything dies.

D-Scythes are 4/2, not 10/1. Sorry.

Kinda piggy backing on the original question but do the D-Scythes retain their Special Rules when fired in this way?

They do however, more or less auto-wound and do instant death on sixes.

Ya, sorry, got them mixed up. But the AP2 and auto wounding means lots of pain for the incoming units.

Well, you better not assault them.
Shoot the assaulters and charge the shooters.

If you play against WG, then you need the right tools.
Shoot the WG with D scythes and charge the WG with wraithcannons.

The only unit, I've succesfully charged against D-Scythe WG were 3 TH/SS Termies and a Corbulo, simply because I had to be in CC in order not to get shot to pieces the next turn (so obviously, I must charge the closest unit and they were luckily fearless).
Twelve hits, eight wounds, two of which were ID. Corbulo tanked six wounds with FnP, losing a single wound. Then I Look out Sired the ID's and they killed a single Termie.
That is still the only unit I'd ever consider charging against them.

WG with scythes are incredibly expensive though, as you usually wont deploy them without a Wave Serpent and even then they can be shot up with plasma
