So I bought some Raptors ages ago, one of the first things I ever bought for 40k and just recently got the attack force and considered making a second champion in case I have two squads etc. My first champion has a power fist and lightning claw, and I was thinking of giving my new champion a plasma pistol to use with his bolt pistol, obvious he's no Cypher, and I know I can give him a power sword for the same price and attacks but have AP3, but I just wondered if many people have done a PP/BP combo and how its turned out for them?

plasma pistols are pretty terrible. If you aren't going to take a CC weapon and are going to take a PP, no reason not to gun slinger, but it wouldn't be very good on the table top.

but a raptor, jump pack, dual pistols gunning people down would be pretty cool, and the rule of cool sometimes trump codex rules.

I think it would be so awesome! But yeah mostly just for the looks of it, I just never actually tried it before, I wasn't sure if it was at all worth taking a plasma pistol...I mean 5 points cheaper it may be worth taking then, but I know I could get a power weapon for the same price and be a lot more effective

Don't you need the rule Gunslinger in order to use both pistols?

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

It's not a special rule. It's a weapon rule, like rapid-fire, assault, template etc.

All models with two pistols automatically have gunslinger.

Yes that's right give a model two pistols, if possible, and it automatically is granted with the gunslinger special rule. So, is there anyone else who's had an experience, preferably successful, with dual pistols? Or any advice on how to field that?

Eh, it's a toss-up between two pistols and a combi-weapon/power claw. Both get you double shots at 12", combi/power claw gives you increased range,one-shot special weapon, better CC, one less attack, and costs more. Pistol/Pistol gives you always-on special weapon, reduced range, extra attack, and reduced cost.

If you're going cheap I'd just take a combi-plasma bolter. If you wanna deck him out for expensive nastiness then a power claw/combi-weapon. Pistol/pistol's only real benefit is one extra str 4 attack in CC. It's the middle of the road option for cowboy raptors who want to look cool while wrangling loyalists.
