Your Poll is very frustrating. None of the answers suit me. A simple Yes or no would've been more telling and polarising.

We haven't seen evidence of anything.

We've had some rumours saying it's a full new edition, and some saying that it's just a slight rework.

I'd put myself in the "cautiously optimistic" category as well. For me, the biggest issue of 6th is the confusing FOC due to new releases, and I'm hoping that they clarify/reduce that. My guess is that they'll create guidelines for dataslates/formations to give them a structure for their digital releases. They need to clarify them in the BRB so that new/non-forum-frequenting players know how they work and their legality.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Has GW shown that they understand the problems and are capable/willing to fix them? Every update I see, the problems remain and what changes there are seem arbitrary.
CSM: Instead of all the things the fans want, they got dino bots and many units that are so useless you'll never see them on the field.
Tyranids. So few of the problems were addressed and more problems were added. No more spores and synapse crap.
IG. Characters gone. Just gone. For no reason. Half the Sm codex is characters but the IG got axed. Some things ended up very well and overall the codex is more powerful, but lots some of its character.
SOB: still no dedicated AA. The entire elite section is useless with Repentia and Penitent Engines being depressingly pointless. Why nerf units that already sucked? Did they even read the codex they wrote?
I see a pattern of sideways movement and sometimes backwards.

Since I am just getting started with Warhammer 40K, I am ok with the new rule book coming out. I am very glad I heard the rumors before I bought a 6th edition book however.

Thanks,

Hmmm. The synic in me says that it's gw stealing my money again but the quality of the books is always good and if it fixes the issues in 6th then I'm all for it.

I personally am really hoping that they do include the rules for escalation and stronghold assault, no more its just a supplement. Also if they could put in the new rulebook that Forgeworld is legal that would be wonderful. Besides that I'm apathetic about it, like others have said there just isn't enough information at this time.

I am sure it will have something about Escalation and Stronghold Assault but say refer to their respective books just like you would for any codex for special rules. We might have rules for D-weapons so this way nobody can say those weapons are not in the BRB so can't be used then.

I don't think they will incorporate all the rules for Escalation and Stronghold assault and the units into the BRB. Maybe the rules, but if you wan to use the units/buildings, then you will need a copy of the respective book.

I'm actually calling BS on all these rumors.

Why would GW want to invalidate two of their books (Escalation and Stronghold Assault), both hardcover books barely a year old, by copy-pasting all their rules into 6.5th rulebook?

It's like GW saying "Please stop buying these two books, buy this one instead"

I think that the progression from 4th to 6th edition has been steadily making the game more like what I want to play, so I'm pretty hopeful. It's not going to fix every balance issue with every codex, but there is pretty much no way that it could.

My housemate buys all the rulebooks that GW publish for 40k anyway, so I'm not concerned about the cost. £45 every two years is a pretty small slice of our household hobby budget.

The only codex I'm currently waiting for an update on is orks and it doesn't seem that 7th edition will really delay them, plus the new starter box may give us some unique models.

So, I'm personally looking forward to it. I can understand why some people aren't, but as far as I'm concerned, it's probably a good thing.

I am hoping it will be:

Fix the Broken units / rules and have full FAQs for the problems

As a Necron player limiting point percentage in the HQ would be a blow (my Crypteks! ).

Seeing that if they bring out 7th ed it will probably be a mess.
If its just a revamp of 6th, they wont fix anything.
I'll just keep my money.

then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

Oh, I don't think they will put the units and most of the rules in there. Just FOC changes and information on how they are part of main 40k.. you will still have to buy the SHA and or escalation book to get the units/rules. You will get some fluff.. some art... some hey.. they belong.... oh and buy the books separate.

As for the people that are "happy" it would be included so people can't say no to your units. If I've learned one thing in my short 40k career... just because its in the book doesn't mean squat. Group I play with still doesn't allow flyers or only allows 1 in a game and how long have they been out? People will tell you no regardless of where the rules live.

25% hq ahhh full circle pretty much brings back the old "cannot take azrael in 1000pts or less" rules special characters used to have, it also forces point and click players to actually think about how they equip there characters rather than just slapping tons of wargear and firing it at the opponent (shield eternal, skull of what's name etc.), these things would become rarer as they bloody well should be, I don't care about tourny players and there spam lists (not all of them of course) , keep em lose em.. Don't care, its grass roots 40k that seems like it will improve with the percentage system
