I've sold a few high end magic cards ($200+) that way and didnt have a problem. Its the only way I offer international shipping.

This all sounds great, but being eBay, I have to ask what is the downside? Do they charge the seller a premium for this?

Well, you're paying both to ship it to the center, and for the international shipping, afaik. There's also the delay of having to ship it to them and then have it forwarded on. That's why I just ship directly to Canada / UK / Aus myself... but it is something I may consider for certain international sales now (before I simply didn't allow bids from places I wasn't comfortable shipping to myself).

Interesting. I am going to have to look into this further. I have some professionally graded toys from the 80's that I want to sell but dread sending overseas because of the potential for shenanigans. Paying an extra $10-15 bucks shipping for peace of mind on a $500+ sale seems potentially worth it. Thanks for the info!

Okay, sorry, I won't drag this any further OT.

Are you being sarcastic

The problem with eBay sellers like this guy, are they are only selling to people like themselves who think they can whack a bit extra on the price and make a profit... somewhere out there is some idiot who thought he was being a clever businessman by buying all the 'SUPER RARE OOP' models and then upping the price tag and reselling, and instead is just sat on a huge pile of mini's he cant shift, but feels obliged to keep the prices that high just to cut his losses. Actually I think we all know which webstore that is, been mentioned here and warseer a few times, haha

Its like everything else, the value has spiralled way beyond what the object is actually used for, and is instead based on what profit people think they can make from it. Its still plastic for pushing round a table, same as a house is a pile of bricks for keeping you dry. Except russian billionaires havent started speculating on the OOP miniatures market...

Automatically Appended Next Post:

I dont think this is an oddity, it seems a nice little collection of well put together and painted models... its not a mad price either as theres fifteen figures there.

Spoiler:

This could legitimately be a studio model, at this point aesthetically. I mean, maybe they're not quite, there, but this does seem to be where the studio is going.

Oh, give me a break. There aren't nearly enough skulls!

It's certainly authentic to the setting.

Nope, at least not as I can tell. The seller just pays to send to them, the buyer has to pay extra to get it. The advantage for ebay is that buyers can purchase from sellers that might otherwise not want to deal with the hassle of international shipping, so ebay gets fees on things which might not have sold otherwise. Granted, all the things I've sold have been small (cards/minis), so there might be another charge for other types of items.

The Epic Warmonger IS actually quite rare, it I don't think it was ever produced for 'sale', just some that you could get back in the day when you could call GWUK mail order and talk up the "Mail Order Trolls" and they'd offer you deals (!) and unreleased stuff too.

I had one - but I don't remember what I did with it...

Price of the auction aside its always neat to see "rare" models as well as to hear stories like the above on how one might be able to order one

Good old UK Mail Order. They always had suggestions on bits and stuff to go with your order and as said, models that were mail order only.

Yeah, as mentioned, the Warmonger is actually a very rare model. It was mail order only through White Dwarf or something like that. I know they've sold on ebay for a lot of money in the past.

It's a Dictator from CAV. Gotta be a big-scale resin model, but I didn't know anyone had made one!

[edit] Huh. It's 1/60-scale, done by John Bear Ross long ago, and no longer available. Damn waste of a nice model!

As, uh.... As hmm as that figure is, this person's eBay account is well worth a look at, they got some real old stuff for sale like Dark Future and Talisman and all kinds of stuff. Some nice old figures too. Got himself a frickin treasure trove, for those interested in the whole OOP thing (or just cool minis that are tough to get any more, of course)
