At this point I’d rather have the baby-carrier than that abomination.

Not for 300 quid it's not...that's a nice paintjob/conversion, but that's nowhere near that cost. So, good for the seller...

Regardless of bids, the person who bought it is bad...and should feel bad. Forever.
PS: Only exception is if somehow proceeds went to some charity and that was just a gimmick to gather money for it.

With respect, elbows, whoever bought it should feel however they like. I would feel "Gosh, that's a brilliant model" and would enjoy looking at and/or playing with is as much or as little as I want.
Nobody got ripped off. Nobody should feel bad. Two people bid £300. A third bid £201.
What's wrong with enjoying a great model, and a (presumably, as he bid a dozen times) happy buyer & seller?

Sorry for the threadromancy but I had to get this in here. Came across it months ago when looking for a bargain on tyberos. Thick paint, brush strokes, the most random colours in weird patterns and the obligatory 'Pro painted' label. Comes with a spiel about how it didn't place in competition because it lacked a wooden plinth, and all with a whopping 150 dollar price tag for a 40 ish dollar mini. Unsurprisingly its still up for auction, surprisingly, no drop in price since I first viewed.
