Does Privateer Press changing their conversion policy and thusly rendering my entire Cryx army not tournament legal count as a modeling disaster?

About a year or so ago, I had gotten into Dark Age, a cool little skirmish game done by CMON. I spent an hour or so one afternoon putting together the 12 models of my warband down at the FLGS. Later that day, I went home, so I put all the minis and modeling supplies in a box. The box went into my floorboard in my car. I have kind of a long drive back home.

When I got home, I discovered that the bottle of ZAP had turned over, the top had come off, and all 12 of those miniatures were stuck in a block of dried glue in the bottom of the box.

I think he's referring to how, several years ago, PP changed their policy on what constituted legal models for tournament use. They don't really want much at all in the way of conversions or proxies because, it is said, they don't want there to be any confusion with your opponent about what miniature represents what game unit or character. Apparently, Aduro must have done a good bit of conversions on a Cryx army prior to the rule change?

Actually they added an additional rule this past week. You are no longer allowed to have Any recognizable non-Privateer Press Intellectual Property on your models. No painting football logos on your guys. No bolt pistol weapon swaps. Ect. You can still do generic head or weapon swaps though, even with other companies parts. It hit me super hard as pretty much my entire Cryx was modeled as to blend in the Necron aesthetic to the faction. I'm kind of bitter about it right now...

You know, I'm willing to bet there's a story behind that decision somewhere.

They are using tournament coverage in both online video and print and they can get rung over the coals for someone using those without permission. Disney getting pissy about stormtrooper Stormblades could turn out to be a very bad day for PP.

Yeah, after reading their policy change, I completely understand it. They're just trying to protect themselves from potential litigation by other IP holders (we're looking at you, GW).
