So as the dark elder are a fighting force in a more gladitorial sense than the eldar, what if they got a rule the gave then a hit and run move after their initiative step but before the initiative below said models with the rule, if they passed a test between the two combatants initiatives ie initiative +d6 and if it was equal or higher, they made the hit and run move, would this break the game? Or potentially bring assault back in the way only a lighting quick dark elder force can achieve? Dakkas thoughts?

seems complicated

DE need an expansion and update of PFP and something to make them faster on the ground now that they can no longer run then assault.

definitely, it's pretty simple, its basically a roll off for plus init for a hit and run after their round of combat,

Seems pretty broken to me. Orks would never get to hit them at all.

I'd say it's fine if they only do it in their turn, not the opponents (or vice versa) so they can't be simply untouchable by I2 or worse. probably more tactically viable if you either say "in the turn they charge" or "in the turn their opponents charge", so they've lured them into a trap or something.

The thing is, why would they want to in their turn? DE have a lot of units that are good in close combat but suffer horrible deaths in the enemy shooting phase. Getting out of combat might short term reduce the amount of CC causulties but they would then all get gunned down by the unit they just got out of combat with.
