So yeah, im sure we all heard the rumours regarding the 7th edition and how its supposed to come out in a few months.
Anyway, the conundrum i have is should i keep the rulebook or try to sell it. If there will only be a few changes to the rules then i might aswell keep the old one.
Also the book is in a mint condition, i didnt use it that much as i am in an unfortunate situation where i have no one to play 40k with, i played less than 10 games since this edition has come out.

Any guidance Battle Brothers?

I still have my mini one (all tabbed up) from DV.

I gave the BRB from 5th and 6th to my nephews.

They don't play but anything I can do to impress upon them the importance and fun of reading, despite their redneck upbringing, is worth it.

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed.

Keep it, put it on a shelf with all your other rulebooks, then 10 years from now pull it out and show pictures of it on the Internet while grumbling about "the good old days, back before GW ruined 40k".

As a redneck I think I should take offense to this last statement lol.

It's out in weeks, not months. As in 5/24 There are lots of changes coming, so you won't be using it.

With that knowledge, do as you see fit.

I'd recommend keeping it. I'm pretty sure that people who are currently considering getting into the hobby would have realized by now that a new edition will be coming out soon (the 6th Edition rulebook isn't being sold on GW's website anymore). So I don't expect you to get much from selling it. If you keep it, you can at least decide to stick with the 6th edition rules if you don't like what 7th has to offer.

Who would buy it?

Wanting to sell something alone isn't enough for a sale to be made. Not unless you're willing to practically give it away.

I kept all my 40k rule books. I only started about a month before 4th ed but have picked up the older copies. Fun reading.

Well seeing that the 7th is so close ill probably be keeping it. Hopefully there will be a smaller version of the rulebook like before as the big one is not a very good investment.

Unless your strapped for cash, keep it. You never know.

When I moved to my current locale D&D just went to version 4.0. I had the books for 3.0. I bought a 4.0 book in case I ever met people to play with (not a D&D fan generally but it can be fun).

When I met D&D players, they were ALL (and I mean like a big group, every last one) playing AD&D 2.0.

So you never know if the same might happen to 40k.

the fluff and old missions and other stuff in the larger rule books is always fun to look back on and write stories about or just for comparisons.

I'm kind fo a hoarder so i dont throw anything away. My wife found about 200 love letters from a girl my freshman year that i hadn't thrown out the other day while she started PURGING our house of old crap. That girl was very fond of me. Lol.

Anyways point is that book is still chock full of ideas for tourneis and missions and things.

Sell it on ebay NOW. A lot of people haven't yet heard of the new edition and might just buy it. A few weeks after official release of 7th, it will rapidly lose most of its value.

I have never, in all my years, ever thrown away an RPG rulebook... except one, but it was offensively terrible, and so doesn't count.

I have rulebooks for RPGs I have never, not even once, ever played. Yet they sit on my shelf, sitting next to books I used near-daily, for games I still play (or at least consider playing) to this very day.

I have all my BRBs from 2nd ed up and the codexes to go with them, Its nice being able to say screw this ed and go back to an old one. I've been playing a mix of 4th and 5th ed lately because I could not stand 6th, and I have a feeling I wont like 7th either.

I completely understand. I have rulebooks for games I am 100% certain that I will never get to play, just because I think the rules are interesting or the books are well produced.

Oh dear! I guess I am evil 'cause I sold my 360 just before the ONE came out too!

I don´t know. Did you lie on the description? Did the other person feel cheated? Did you ripped him off?

If you explain the issue, you are being fair. If you are not properly explaining your product, you are ripping someone off. I buy a lot of stuff on the Internet. I don´t like getting ripped off. Nobody does. You are talking about blatantly cheating and making money out of it. If you get something that gets invalidated in a few days, without knowing it, you will probably get pissed off too.

I sure will. I will contact the seller at once and ask my money back. If diplomacy fails, that person becomes my enemy.

So I will (obviously) rise a complaint, basing my case on False and Misleading Advertising. There are lots of collectors selling and buying stuff on eBay, and the people running eBay know the "change of edition" issue. They have zero tolerance for scammers and rippers, it is bad for the business. There are also forums when names can be said, and warnings be made. It is just fair that everyone learn of the new little rat on the collector´s neighborhood and act accordingly. It is easy to cheat once, it is harder to do it again. If all this ends in nothing (it can be, depending of many different factors), I still have the name and the address of the person that pissed me off. The little rat will not just "get away with it".

Do not insult "evil". Ripping off people on eBay is dumb, not evil. Sure, you are pissing people off, and making money you shouldn´t make, but you are giving enough information to get properly punished. Which is dumb.

To the OP: I will keep it, for the background, the art and to be kept as part of my ever-growing collection of 40k stuff.

If you sell your rulebook, make sure the other person knows what are they getting for their money. Many collectors buy old 40k material (I am one), but be sure you are not getting a new player to buy something he will find no use in a few weeks. Otherwise, the community will lose a new player because someone ripped him off. Please, don´t do that.
