Because of the new Guard Codex, I was thinking of starting a looted Guard army for my Orks. This was what I was thinking for a 2000 point game. I would love your thoughts!
The objective is to slowly advance everything, while shooting everything I can. I'm just not sure about 8 tanks in a 2000 point list...
Orks and Tanks 2000
* Big Mek (KFF)
* 19 x Ork Boyz + 1 Nob, PK, BP (shootas)
* 19 x Ork Boyz + 1 Nob, PK, BP (shootas)
* 19 x Ork Boyz + 1 Nob, PK, BIg Choppa (shootas)
*Kill Bursta Superheavy Tank w/ Bursta Kannon
* Leman Russ Squad x3 Battle Tanks (Commander)
* Leman Russ Squad x3 Battle Tanks
* Veteran Squad (Vanilla) in Chimera, Multi-laser + Heavy Bolter

1 Heavy
Main Rule Book pg 109
If the (* Leman Russ Squad x3 Battle Tanks (Commander) ) counts as 1 choice then this is a legal army.

The place I am playing prefers it if you play according to the BRB. Also, the commander for guard is squadroned with the 2 other tanks, which is legal.

Would benefit considerably by sticking the boyz into battlewagons. Maybe take a second KFF too.
Make it all mech, overload their anti tank.
Note that the KFF works on your allies even w/o battle brothers. It also works on enemies that come within 6" lol.
Haven't read new IG, but if you can make the tank mobs smaller its probably a good idea. Three large blasts on most units is overkill imo

Kff only works on ork army. There was faq. It said that specific army options works only on this army.

KFF states any model gets a 5+ cover save, but only ork vehicles get obscured. so it would only help the veterans, and only then if they fell out of their chimera.

KFF Bigmek
3 squads of 19 Boys + 1 Nob, PK BP
3 Battlewagons, 4 bigshootas in each
Kill bursta tank, bursta cannon
Guard Allies
2x Russes (HQ)
2x Russes (Heavy)
1x Vets in Chimera
2000 points

KFF bigmek (Runs with the boys)
Shoota / Choppa Bigmek (in the Bursta)
3x20 Boys each with Nob, BP, PK
Each in a Battlewagon 2 Big Shootas
Kill bursta
2x Russes (HQ)
2x Russes (Heavy)
1x Vets in Chimera

You're going to have to drop a squad of boyz down to 19. BW Capacity is 20 total.

Sounds like a cool idea.
I was considering doing something similar, but decided to wait for the new rules before buying more models.
Are you running your Orks as Deathskulls or Blood Axes?

If you switch 2 russes to eradicators, you can add on some sponsons and gain a little more firepower.
Also i think you might benefit by putting a few weapons in your vet squad.
