The Thousand Sons themed one is absolutely nuts, awesome.
How long does each army take approximately to finish?

Hey all!

Have a new army up, this time a Chaos Marine army based around Sons of Malice. It's full of really cool old out of print models, and old chassis Rhinos.

This actually isn't a commission, but a paint job for a local friend who did some work for me. He wasn't too particular, so I went with a bit of a fall look, and decided to go all out with the weathering on the vehicles. The models are old, and honestly rather plain without it, so the quartering and weathering brings them up to date and they can now rock with the newer models.

A lot of cool stuff coming up. Some more appropriately Fall themed armies, as well as posts on starting up Adepticon projects. Stay tuned!

About a week per 2-3000 points, but it really depends, and it also depends on if I am working on anything else at the time.

Hey all,

Another "showcase" set up on the blog - Some Emperor's Scythes and Lamenters hold out behind a barricade against some Sons of Malice. The traitors have broken through with their evil contraptions, but they are bottle necked. Who do you think would will win?

Until next time,

Hey GMM,

could you inform me how you did the sand on the Thousand Sons? I´m looking to make a similiar effect for my Necrons and found this style to be nice. Much appreciated if possible.

Actual sand and weathering powders.

Actual sand, huh. Didn´t expect it to look so fine ( small particles ) on small scale models. Is it like sand you´ll just find outside or some grinded/fined down stuff? Any spesifics regarding the powders and how you used them?

Play sand from the hardware store (as opposed to the beach or construction sand) is actually very fine.

However I am from the USA and cannot say how easy that will be for you to find.

The best thing to do is just test and see what you like.

these are by far some of the best army presentations on dakka. You can fill a blog with just one of these armies. All of them is joy overload for a modeler like me.

Wow. 2-3k pts per week? Obscenely fast. I'd love to see a walk through video of a project so I can see where I go so very wrong...

Posts like this are why I do it.

I was that kid that played with toy soldiers around the still wrapped christmas presents.

What is it with October and piggy models around here? I'm not complaining. These are some of the best models I have painted in a while. I really like the large open areas of armor and flesh. The sculpts just have a lot of great character.

In case you didn't know, these are Wrath of Kings models from the House Teknes faction. If you go to a demo table for the game at a Cool Mini booth (which I have, and it's a fun skirmish game) watch for these guys! There are three other equally interesting factions in the game, which will be rolling through here in the future as well.

Also as you may be aware, I am almost strictly a Games Workshop painter, but I will be adding this game to the roster for available painting as well as a new gallery to the site. I have been wanting to expand for a while, and this was a great opportunity to.

Oh, and hope you like the new backdrop. Had a spark of inspiration and had to throw that together this weekend. I did not have a proper fantasy themed backdrop.

Enjoy!

Honestly, your talent is amazing and something you should be extremely proud of! Please keep posting your outstanding work for a long time to come!

Ha, yeah I made him back in June or so. Then I lost him for about a month or two. I tore the house apart finally, and then I went back through instagram photos and saw where I last took a picture - Gencon. Turns out he was in the bottom of a box I had taken.

All the models in my house and I lose Waldo..

Do you use a varnish and if so, what manufacturer and finish?

Regarding the backdrop. While looking at the wonderful photos I found the green roofs to be distracting from the models. My eye keeps going to the green and away from the toy soldiers. It could just be me.

Looking forward to your next project.

Be well band take care

Now that is amusing any chance of a close up (I know he doesn't normally go in for that sort of thing though)

You are absolutely right. Those buildings were made to complement an existing army, not general photography. In fact, the army in the first post of this thread.

Funny you should mention it, I was just popping on to post these two houses I finished yesterday for just that reason!

To the rooftops! Usually these are one faction on one, but I took advantage of the new Chaos Marines to do a slugfest of Emperor's Scythes and Dark Angels versus Sons of Malice and Thousand Sons. Watch your step!

So good!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!
