I am updating my article at the bottom, and was wondering if anyone can enlighten me to the versatility of the list below...

HQ:
Warboss - 90 Pts.
w/ 'eavy Armor, PowerKlaw

Troops:
20x Boyz - 160 Pts.
w/ Nob, PowerKlaw, Bosspole

20x Boyz - 160 Pts.
w/ Nob, PowerKlaw, Bosspole

Fast Attack:
Deffkopta - 45 Pts.
w/ TL Rokkits

Deffkopta - 45 Pts.
w/ TL Rokkits

Still relevant, half-way decent? I am looking to keep it a green tide list...

Thanks in advance gents!

Still fine.

I'm not a fan off Deffkoptas but I can see why some people are. I personally prefer Kanz for around that point margin.

A KFF/'Eavy Mek is probably better, but will get squished in challenges. For the purposes of learning the role of HQs, the Warboss suits.

7th will probably change something important and may adjust the list, and certainly the new codex will, but for now it is just fine.

Yeah, but if he's doing a basic beginner's list, you probably don't want to throw in Elites just yet (even though I'd take Lootas over Koptas at the 500pt level). From the looks of his article it seems that he's introducing new elements slowly and focusing on the bare bones.

At the 1000 point level, I'd seriously ditch the KKs in favor of Lootas to be competitive. Lootas will be far more effective and give a new player more of a punch than 3 Kans with Rokkits. For 150 pts. You can field 10 Lootas that have far more range and a lot better chances at popping transports (Esp the Dark Eldar floating cardboard! ) or mowing down infantry units than you will having the KKs doing anything effective.

Grots, I'm on the fence about. Yeah, they're great for soaking up fire, but that usually only last for one turn. Unless the player is using them to bubble wrap a character (like I used to do with Old Zog or a Big Mek with a SAG) then they're not going to be much use. You can get six more boyz on the table for that amount of points.

I thought lootas were more in theme with a "green tide" list and to me they seem easier to use because they don't need so much tactic: you can just camp them somewhere and shoot. With an average of 4 hits (with six of them) they do better than 2 koptas (1.2 hits if my math is not wrong). By the way is not an "auto-win" improvement. Feel free to play what you prefer

I am taking the list from the article and trying to see if it is somewhat viable. Can't KK screen for the boys? Combined with the KFF, that's a pretty nice blocker. Are PKs still relevant in 6th? I see lots of people dropping pfs...

The first thing I did when I started playing why orks was to get 6 kans. After playing them some I rarely use them now. They do give you a 5+ cover but there's so many weapons that ignore cover. Also, when they start moving up through terrain and your boys are all crowding them they blow up and can kill a decen amount of your own boys.

The KFF doesn't improve your cover, just gives you a flat 5+ (unless I've been reading it wrong). So if you want the boys to be a bit more survivable take a big Mek.

I prefer the warboss, he's super tough and mean. Usually the invul and a pk is enough. Watch him kill vehicles, walkers, hovering planes, enemy heroes.

I am thinking I will stick with the KFF/Mek then.

From there, I will probably pick up 5 Lootas. Then the rest goes to the boys with a bosspole. Shootas over Choppas?

Wait for a new codex - it's coming soon. Things might change alot. As for now, it depends on your opponent alot. If you face at least semi-competitive eldar or tau, there's really no point in footslogas at all. If the opponents won't field that fast and strong shooters - a couple shoota mobz with nobz will do.
