The alpha legion would like to have a word with you about the largest organized renegade fleet outside the Eye of Terror.
Except wait, they like being unknown. Automatically Appended Next Post: Maverike_prime wrote:
'Cept that it doesn't. Orbital bombardment, while a powerful tool can only do so much with out destroying the planet itself. So lets say they go to lay down Orbital bombardment. And the Chaos Forces take shelter underground, and by underground I meet a few miles underground. Deep enough that with out extreme, concentrated, planet cracking orbital bombardment, that blasts aren't touching them. Cadia still stands as the last staging point before hitting the Eye of terror. They don't want to loose it. And the Imperium does know that the obilisks have something to do with the fact that there's a stable path into the eye at all. Will that path remain if the planet is destroyed? *shrugs*
Name one marine chapter or legion that ever fell to orbital bombardment. It just doesnt kill marines, unless it is unexpected. Even if it does kill a few, it never exterminates them. They take cover, the planet might even break up, but the marines are still there. They need to be rooted out with ground forces. No where in the fluff has orbital bombardment ever defeated an astartes force. They always hunker down and then escape.

I guess.
Mine is pinned with coat hanger and has a different head and sword. Nearly indestructible.

I got this transcript from a certain brand of Soy Sauce that accurately described the events in the EOT campaign:
Abaddon was being a bad little everchosen and wouldn't get off of Eldrad's lawn, so old man Eldrad coot came out, bent him over his knee, and thrashed his bottom soundly with the staff of Ulthamar.
Abaddon, tears in his eyes, cried out "chaosss, save meee!" and so the chaos gods whisked him away in a puff of magic.
Then Eldrad went lookin' for his Gran Torino, which the chaos boys had stolen, and he found it. Slaanesh was waiting inside for him though. Eldrad knew, but got in anyway, 'cause it was his car. He then looked Slaanesh square in the eye, punched 'im right in the ****, and exploded into a million soulstones.
And that's how the Eldar won the Eye of Terror.

Outside of the Eye being the key point here.
There's probably thousands of warbands larger than his pitiful renegade pirate fleet within the Eye. When I hear the term 'overrated' I instantly think of Huron Blackheart.

Space Marines have no troubles whatsoever surviving orbital bombardments. In the GK codex there's an example of a GK strike force who risked being drowned in Daemons, but they just called down an orbital strike on their own location, which utterly destroyed the Daemons while their own armour held firm.

I guess being partially invulnerable thanks to being a creature of the warp doesn't mean much these days.

Don't forget the Tyranids.
On the other hand Huron accidentally killed a large number of Grey Knights with an orbital strike of some sort.

Instead of hazy memories or baseless speculation please see

for all your 13th Black Crusade/Eye of Terror campaign informational needs (including campaign mechanics), as sourced direct from GW's WD report, and the archived

which charted the daily fluctuations during the course of the campaign.

exactly my point. Sitting above a planet with your big guns and trying to annihilate them isn't a good position to be in. Sure they can't hurt you back right now, but you cant really hurt them very much very quickly.

I doubt that very much, the Corsairs are supposed to be encroaching on Legion size.

Codex Grey Knights, it's the reason Mordrak is haunted and has a beef with Huron.
