So... I lost my DE codex recently

Can someone give me the exact wording of her immunity?

Isn't that she can't be targeted by any psyhic powers? My brother seemed to remember that she and her unit is immune to the effects of psyhic powers. If that's true, what does that truly mean?

For instance, if her unit is locked in combat with an invisible enemy unit... would her/unit still be WS1?

Invis doesn't make you WS 1 in 7th. It's actually worse than that.

I do apologize, even as tragic as it is to lose a Codex, we are unable to break the Tenets of this Forum.
A direct quote of what the Rule states will not be forth-coming, on the grounds that the forum is not a replacement for a Codex and that we do not want to evoke the wrath of Game Workshop's legal team.

Actually, if you read most threads in YMTC, they pretty much all quote rules. You can't really have a rules debate without providing rules.

Immune to the effects… the result is to give a blessing that has the EFFECT of making you need 6s to hit. Malys laughs at your attempts to use your puny magic.

While I agree with you, don't some people just quote page and paragraph?

A lot of people do when the rules in question are really clear in the BRB.

Such as, "How far can my Infantry model move in the movement phase?" Clear in the book and a page number would suffice.

Other issues like this http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/599053.page are less clear and then rules quotes have to come into play because people make statements like this one for example:

"my statement from the beginning has been rolling ONE dice to see if it hits. If it hits, you resolve said power, if it does not, you can not. This is RAW,"

and do not cite rules to back it up.

"Did you notice a sign out in front of my chapel that said "Land Raider Storage"?" -High Chaplain Astorath the Grim Redeemer of the Lost.

I sold my soul to the devil and now the bastard is demanding a refund!

"completely immune to the effects of psychic powers, as is any unit she joins."

I wouldn't have provided it as a rulebook substitute, but as backing for the Invisibility debate, that's totally reasonable.

If it said 'immune to psychic powers,' I'd agree that she has to be the target. But as it stands, no, she would hit normally in melee against an invisible unit. In addition to the rather self-evident immunity to maledictions and witchfires, she'd also be immune to the diff/dangerous terrain tests from Fire Shield and Sanctuary. Perhaps most interestingly, if the summoning psyker was in a unit with her, (and there were no eligible units with 6") then said psyker could summon demons all day and all night long using the Sacrifice power without anyone taking a wound.

I think a real rules lawyer could try to reach for the stars and make a squirrely argument that units with Hammerhand would have to strike at a lower strength, or that she'd still get a cover save from units blessed by Perfect Timing, but it seems like we can make a pretty clear distinction between powers that have an effect on someone else, and powers that have a direct effect on Malys and her unit. (Such as Invisibility, Fire Shield, Sanctuary, and Sacrifice.)

HawaiiMatt,
While some people do break the Tenants, posting a Rule in it's entirety soon as someone asks, the Moderators have tried to clamp down on this sort of behavior. There are a wide range of reasons as to why, some as serious as the fact that whole Rule quotes can get DakkaDakka taken off the air. That is why we are required to inform people one simple fact when they post a question along the lines of 'I don't have a Codex, what does this Rule state?' That is simply the fact that Dakkadakka is not a replacement for the codex.

Though, luckily, the core of this one thread is very curious so it will likely spawn a few replies without needing a direct Rule Quote.

Identical discussion, still on page 1:

Basically it comes down to if she gets to ignore the effects of all psychic powers (including ones that indirectly affect her) then you would have to play two games simultaneously as soon as Daemons are summoned.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I can agree that it shouldn't apply to powers that indirectly affect her/her unit. But Invisibility (as well as Fire Shield, Sanctuary, and Sacrifice) does have a direct effect on her or her unit. That's where I think the difference comes in.

For clarity, posting relevant quotes for the purposes of discussion is fine. It's just the posting of rules because someone doesn't have the book (or is too lazy to open it), or quoting more than in necessary for the discussion at hand that is frowned upon.
