Well, I bought Rome: Total War for $5 a couple days ago, so that was nice. Silent Hunter for $6 was pretty awesome too (that wasn't on sale though).

I swear it was on sale a week or two ago.
I passed since several reviews said dishonored was better, so I bought that.

Don't bother buying Fallout 3 if you have windows 7 or later, I have just spent about half an hour fiddling with .ini files and it still crashes before you can even start the game.

So... I have an appreciation for the hardships mortals face.
You can get game pads for the PC when the keyboard and mouse is not the best tool for the game.

Well aware, but mouse and keyboard (and more flexibility of power and storage) is what differentiates it the most in my eyes.
When I play a console I am forced to use a controller rather than an option on the PC... not the ideal for me.

Aye, the option part is key. Mouse and Keyboard is objective bad for, say, flight games. If I want to putter around Ace Combat for some Su-33 fun, I use my PS3 controller, makes life a lot easier. However, after growing up with Counter-Strike, I just can't do console FPSs. It's a shame some times; I love the aesthetic of the Resistance series, I enjoyed Halo 1 on my PC quite a bit, and would like to play the others, but it feels like being in a drunken stupor to use a controller.
As for the sale, I grabbed Call of Juarez; Gunslinger. It was a genuinely fun, arcadey western FPS. Good presentation, fun quirks, well worth the $3.75.
I also got Rome:Total War for $5, purely so I could play the awesome Europa Barbarorum mod again; my old R: TW disks haven't survived. That mod is better than Rome 2 by a fair margin. Especially because it doesn't crash constantly...
All I'm waiting for now is to see if Victoria 2 goes on sale for more than 50%; I'd like to nab the expansions, as i"m a suck for Paradox games and the 19th century in general.
|
Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Trust me, KSP isn't just a game, it's a way of life.
Also, on the whole " PC vs Console" debate for FPS games, I honestly have decided it comes down to people preferring the control scheme they're most used to. I personally am no good with either a mouse or a gamepad. Believe it or not I actually prefer a laptop track pad. After beating a couple FPS games with it (because I had no mouse with me at college) I couldn't imagine playing an FPS with anything else. This is the point where everybody is free to go

Part of me wants to get KSP, but another can't justify the price-tag for a game I'll play a few times to crash stuff, and then never touch again.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Can't really say as I have spent about 45 minutes with. It doesn't seem to be something you can just play around with. It looks like you really have to sink your teeth into it. Steep learning curve.

Kerbal Space Program is definitely worth getting. You've got a whole bunch of parts and you can assemble them into different land, air and space vehicles and dock them together, go to other planets, capture asteroids. For example, here's a spaceplane of my own design, after reaching orbit:

I see you have no problems with "pixelated" horror games, so check out "Lone Survivor". Looks pretty good from what I saw in a Let's Play.
I have my eye on "The Cat Lady". Seems pretty cool but unfortunately the pack that had it didn't win the "Community's Choice" vote.
"Cry of Fear" is Free and from what I saw in a Let's Play it can be pretty darn good.
Check the "Penumbra" series. This one is more about puzzle and survival, I can only guess this is where Amnesia got it's inspiration from.
And of course if the platform isn't a problem, get the Project Zero / Fatal Frame (different name in Europe and USA) series for PS2. Damn, I love these games.

Voting is closed. There won't be another player's choice after this batch expires, which happens to be the same time everything else expires. Sale ends on the 30th, meaning it ends on the 30th. It doesn't last 'til the end of the 30th, it means it ends when the 30th begins.
