What should happen in in 6 week league with entry fee/prizes? Out of the league or just auto loss on that game? The TO said auto loss on that game. Should cheating have a harsher penalty? I really dislike cheating.

I guess that is fine for a 1st offense but what if I hadn't caught him. I thought something was fishy when he pulled a 6pt victory card so I watched him. He walk over to deck casually look at the top card and either put it on bottom or left it on top. So I asked the store own to watch him and he got busted.

Do you want this guy to stop cheating or be damned to Hell for eternity?

If you want him to stop cheating the way to do it is give a lighter punishment like lose the current game and see if he learns a lesson from that.

You can repeat or increase the punishment if he continues in the bad behaviour.

I was winning anyway so is a auto loss even a penalty? But I guess it is a 1st strike.

I guess he is problem in other aspects tho. Like refusing to charge thru terrain to get all his terminators in base to base w/ my dreadknight. Had to call the TO over. Rolling dice behind buildings and picking them up before I see them. ECT . Win at any cost people really bother me. I am a competitive player but will not cheat for any reason. If your not playing by the rules of the game why are you even playing?

Cheating is one of those things that now that there are cards involved in the game people are now going to be able to find new ways to cheat. I was wondering if this was ever actually going to come up. Sad story.

I despise cheating. I think a single game loss is a little light. I would suspend him for one week and then see if he learns. Next offense is kicked out of the league with now refund on the entry.

I would throw him out of the league. Something like that is not one time. Give him a real lesson and he loses his entry fee. I can guarantee this is not the first he cheated. You do not suddenly do things like this. This player now needs to be watched over and will take the fun out of the league. Swift action and maybe he will change in the next league

If it's a league I think a slightly harder punishment is in order, like resetting all his currently earned points (victories, whatever) to zero and counting them as losses.

That way he can redeem himself by stopping to cheat. If he gets caught again, kick him out of the league.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.

Personally, I would be fine with having him forfeit that week's game(s), and basically being told that another offense will get him disqualified from the league entirely. If you're in a bad mood, name+shame to the other league players as well, basically stating that so-and-so was caught cheating and therefore forfeits his game(s) for that week, and reiterate the fact that cheating is not acceptable. The shame of that alone should fix the problem.

You don't want to be too harsh but want to make it clear that cheating is not tolerated.

If its a first offense, This is an appropriate punishment.

But ultimately its the TO that needs to make the call as to whats an appropriate punishment. If he's a problem player, and you have additional concerns, bring them up to the TO quietly.

You can also choose not to play him, and when asked explain these are the reasons you'd rather not play him. Either he'll get it, or not.

Yep, if you're not going to boot him out, then at least reset his record to all losses.

To those who say it is his first offense. After 35 years of gaming i can state that there is a 99% chance he has cheated before and it is only the first time you caught him. Someone does not suddenly start this. Since the cards are new he has not perfected his method but he has been doing other things. I would kick him out and let him prove himself in non league games where prizes are not involved. Someone like this will ruin the gaming atmosphere in your group.

The first time just an auto lose and handicap his next game.

If he does it again then he's out of the tournament and if he does it in another tournament there then they get banned from tournaments.

Sounds like he has a problem attitude and is a cheater.

Kick him out of the league. You paid money for this.

Personally say out right ban. then ban the use of cards.

its slower but you can roll for those objectives and there will be no cheating besides from loaded dice which is bannable and noticeable anyway.

Any cheating attempt of any sort is an immediate Red Card offense which means the match ending with a loss and the offender being excluded from the tournament right on the spot. For the next tournament, he immediately starts with a Yellow Card, meaning every Yellow Card offense will result in a Red Card right on the spot.

Escalating punishments.

First offense, he loses the current game.

Second offense, start dating his mother.

Third offense, remove him from the league.

I'd want him out of the league. There really is no excuse for cheating other than being a witch.

Evict him from the league.

Everyone will breathe easier.

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed.

I think the punishment needs to depend on the degree of certainty.

In this case? Caught red handed? Immediate ejection from the league, forfeiture of any entry fees. Second offense? A suspension from all store competitions for a set period of time. Third offense? Permanent ban from competitive play.

What exactly was he doing? Dealing from the bottom? Preshuffled them so good cards on top? Whatever he didn't didn't get him an edge since he was losing. I would ban him using cards in the games.

I dunno about a ban, but I get sick of the people who try to squeeze little things out of the game thinking no one will call them on it.

I'm talking about the guy who says: "oh that guy has a 4+ invuln psychic power.."
"oh, does he come with it?"
"no I rolled before the game."
"oh.... Uh....... Well you really should do that in front of... Oh never mind whatever..."

I have had the same guy do that to me twice. First time was actually in the tournament and second was for just a pickup game. A pickup saturday afternoon game.. he makes it seem like he doesn't want to waste your time with his rolling, but its like dude, it takes like .5% of the entire time playing.

And when he tells you what he got, he just says non-chalant (or whatever) "oh yeah, I got the thing that grants d3 toughness or something..."

It's like: um, I think you would know when you rolled what you got. Don't act like you didn't want iron arm on your tyranid monstrous creature hq thing. That's exactly what you wanted. I think he doesn't want people to hear him get the same power over and over so he switches up how he says it.

Anyway.. end rant..

I agree with this, a harsh punishment is also more effective in deterring other cheaters from doing the same.

Definitely remove him from the league after the first warning. Anyone wanting to win that badly is someone you really shouldn't play with in general really.

I disagree with a harsher punishment being "damned to hell for eternity". Getting kicked out of the league but not banned from the store makes the point but still leaves an opportunity for them to stop cheating and get a chance to play in the future. Only giving a light punishment like a single game loss just encourages that kind of behavior.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
