I understand why games companies waste money having trailers like this created (or waste their own time making them in some cases), but as bad-ass as they are (and this one certainly is)...I would much prefer to see some awesome game footage any day of the week than a stupid trailer that has absolutely nothing to do with how the game will actually play.
I love space hulk dearly, but I really do think it is a terrible idea for a FPS because as it stands there is just so little diversity. You're just fighting through different corridors shooting the same genestealers.
I really wish/hope someone gets the go-ahead from GW to introduce the whole spectrum of Tyranid creatures that have (for whatever reason) infested a ship...then all of a sudden that would make for a much more interesting FPS concept.
But anyway...enough sour grapes. The trailer is glorious and hope always springs eternal that this will be an amazing game.
Yup, saw it today, then I tried to find the release date for XBOX One... Nuthin'... Love to see 40K animated well.
A Bit bummed out for lack of a release date, but my day perked up 110% when I found the Ork Dex and the elusive Ork data cards at my local shop.
Liked the detail of the spent casings tumbling out of the Storm Bolters, and Assault Cannon... drool.
I can see trudging up dark airless corridors a bit monotonous but done right it could be cool. The right music, lights out, XBOX One graphics and a large TV with surround sound might just cause the right creepiness!
Thanks for posting so we can continue to watch the awesome trailer, and hopefully see a game date release.
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.
Sergeant Brother Tuup Tightus and his terminator squad investigate the derelict space hulk Monetary Grabbicus on suspicion of Chaos cultists infesting the drifting detritus. What they find is far more than a mere Chaos cult, as they are soon quickly overrun by many, many more genestealers and infested mutants. When given the opportunity to pull back from nigh overwhelming odds, the not so subtle confirmation that an Unforgiven organized the cultists surfaces, and that he is still very well alive in the deepest recesses of the nightmarish xenos infestation. The Deathwing makes the choice to continue onward, lest their terrible secret be revealed.
Also, Crimson Slaughter appear, and Orks just because.

Time spent making game-play trailers takes time away from working out what features they're going to cut from the game to turn into Day-1 DLC.

Is it definitely an FPS? Given that the trailer isn't gameplay, I presumed it might be more turn based ala the game...
“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.
On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
I'd not mind if it was anything like Space Marine where several factions are represented, though perhaps Eldar/Dark Eldar and cultists would be a nice change of pace rather than Orks and Spikey Marines.

Otherwise cool trailer though.
Otherwise cool? You mean otherwise cool that then becomes awesome! A giant broodlord makes a better boss than a broodlord that's just half again taller than the other dudes. That's Alien Queen-level huge, and I dig it.

Well, we don't know exactly how much there will be in the game to fight or see. There might be a variety of Nids and Genestealers are just all we're seeing now. There might be different mutations of Genestealers (flesh hooks, feeder tendrils, carapace armor, etc) to give the game diversity. As for shooting baddies in corridors: have you played a first person shooter? That's a good 90% of them, historically. It looks like there might be some bigger, more cathedral-esque spaces in this too, so we'll find out.
I'm really pumped for this game. I've always wanted an immersive Space Hulk game, and I think this'll be it. The developers did a great job with the utterly weird (and utterly French) FPS/RPG E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy, and I'm excited to see what they can do with a more powerful engine, bigger budget, and better IP.
I got Space Hulk in the recent/current humble bundle and it reinforces (to me) how direct translation of tabletop to video game is a bad thing. I hope they take a lot of liberties with this. The setting (termies on a space hulk vs 'nids) has ample room for interpretation, ie. FPS, squad based shooter, RTS, X-Com style etc. Could add chaos, orks, other xenos.
Why do we get trailers like this and games like that shoddy lane attack thing. We should get movies like this and games like DoW/SM! ; )
I have *zero* expectations for this though, it's the only way to be safe. Track record for non-relic devs is atrocious and hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
So, this is the FPS game, right? I could be down for this, if done right. Space Marine was "done right" and I loved it. I'd be willing to give this one a chance, but 40k and FPSs down have that great of a history together. What they ought to do is a big budget COD style game where you play as an Imperial Guard fighting on Armageddon. That would be a cool game.
Still, this looks like it could be neat. Will it remain squad based though? Hopefully they let you choose which guy to play as. I'd rather be Assault Cannon dude over the Librarian.

That Imperial Guard idea would be awesome for a COD type of first person shooter, I thinkg everyone is sick of shooting "terrorists" at this point.
Personally, I'm gonna hold my breath on this being decent, the last decent non-Relic 40k game was Space Marine, and even that was a little generic at times.
I'll wait and see, hopefully they don't cock it up and make 40k synonymous with crap in the video game scene.
I just want Dawn of War 3... Please?
This hobby is fething my wallet... But I love it.
