Nah, not at all. I do admittedly have a remarkably low tolerance for cornball stuff in RPGs. As soon as I saw the sneaking animation in the tutorial dungeon, I knew I was in trouble.

Looks really great imo, will definitely look at picking it up.
The version on Steam is the full retail version is it?

Cheers. Do you know approximately how long it is? In terms of hours or lastability-wise?

60-80 on the first play-through, easy.

Of course, this will decrease if you use a guide, instead of taking the time to figure out everything.

In a sentence, I'd summarize D:OS as...

"An excellent game tarnished by a clunky UI."

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I broke and purchased the game. Definitely my kind of game. No instructions. Just put in a world and you go figuring things out and exploring. Reminds me of the first 2 fallout games in every way. The level system. The encounters and the humor. Definitely worth the cash. Oh and multiplayer!

This is a great game, is anyone else noticing a lot of plate armour/two handed weapons dropping.

I have had loads of stuff like that drop but less so for caster classes.

Casters seem to be a bit too powerful. I am finding that my ranger does barely any damage and my tank takes too long to reach the enemy and tends to take a lot of damage in the process. Essentially my 2 casters do all the killing and the remainder get in the way.

I see the opposite problem, myself-- rangers are massive DPS engines.

Im having huge success as the dagger class that uses magic (cant remember the class). Huge amount of action points, gains health in blood, backstab and debuffing tough magic. I just run circles around my opponents doing a lot of critical damage from behind. I then got bully for extra damage when I weaken my foes.

BUT I find having 2 magic users really tips the balance. They can teleport enemies away from the combat and summon meat shields etc. Almost makes some bits too easy. Im dont think I could fare well without them.

In my current party my pyro/earth wizard and Jahun do by far the most damage, then my ranger who does a bit but is mostly there for status effect arrows and then Madora who does a lot of damage if she manages to reach melee but most of the time she just stands around looking menacing.

Zombie + Bloodletting + Leech fully heals a group member with more than 3000 HP in one cast.

It's charming that, as in many old school RPGs, summoning is pretty darn overpowered too.

What do those traits do? How does it work etc?

I wont do it because there is nothing worse than getting told what to do in these types of games or looking at walkthroughs but im interested haha.

Zombie is trait that you can take. You can no longer heal normally but become immune to poison (REALLY useful, believe me) and even HEAL when hit with it. Geomancer with poison AoE = trolol. Leech lets you heal while standing in blood, so...Bloodletting on other character, profit. Full heal.

I also got the Lone Wolf perk. Haha. It feels like cheating though.

Noooo, now I have to resist looking at it!

I must complete the game normally first

I HIGHLY recommend it. I started out without Leech / Bloodletting, then saw it, re-rolled and...hahaha

Yea I know the power of walkthroughs and guides. But every time I play a game, the best times are when I know less. I love the game now, but once I know how to do it all then it kinda kills it for me. I like the fact that I have no idea what im doing because it feels like im learning etc etc.

Big reason why I never do tutorials.

The downside is my friends that play this have done it 6 times because of walkthroughs. I have hardly made it that far haha.

So "no magic" is pretty tough sledding.

I just started playing. I have Jade Anu, my noble knight, and Keira, my sneaky Shadowblade. I intentionally make them disagree in everything, with Jade taking the ethical high road, and Keira always taking the "whatever makes us rich" path.

I just got up to the part from that quest givers video I posted. I guess I'll use my one-and-only rain scroll to help... or should I set fire to everything?

Yeah. That's like playing on Hard mode, without Hard mode.

Well I just finished off the main Cryseal quests and killed Barracus Rex. That was an annoying fight, his minions are easy enough but his massively powerful fireball and his healing through fire make him very hard to kill.

Find something interesting I can dig. Characters have two arguments over whether to dig it up. Eventually the one who wants to dig wins, and starts digging.

BOOM!

Party dies.

Quit game.

Dont like games with consequence eh?

I find it a really nice change from the usual baby step instruction games.

Hah, I know exactly where this happened. It's a classic RPG, you need to save. Period.

Anyway, I'm really loving the game so far, which is kind of a suprise because I never tend to gel with party based RPG's.
