Dear forum members, I have this simple question : is there any chance the "regular" models (so NOT speaking of Grukk nor Dragongaze) are different from regular boxes ? I read they will NOT be snap fit but might be "smaller volumes" sprues (no idea what this means).
I am asking because I am just waiting for an order at Wayland Game including Orks Nobz and Killa Kanz boxes. So I am considering cancelling these two and remplace them for the stormclaw box... Seems pretty straight forward but the last thing I want is to loose bitz on these sets...
Also the "limited stock" is an issue because I am struggling on this order for 7 month now (due to totalwargamer for the records)
Well, many thanks if you can help me with my question guys !

Very unlikely as it would be a big waste of time and money to cut a new mould for the existing stuff, especially as this seems to be a LE set

(of course with GW anything is possible, but I don't think so)

Drove to the local GW store to get it and it sold out on my drive in. Should've just bought it online.

How could they sell out so quickly?

Theory A - GW is rubbish at assessing interest in their product.

Theory B - There's a bunch of GW consumers eager to buy GW stuff at a hefty discount.

Theory C - Foxes did it.

Theory D - ebay resellers bought a bunch of quantity because they can make a nice profit of every set of sprues in the box, plus the books.

Do we still think a new Space Wolves Codex is coming out?

I'm selling the current one on ebay at the moment and I made the point of saying that buyers should be aware that the new edition is rumoured to be released soon.

Despite this, there's a mini bidding war going on and I may end up making a profit (originally bought it at Hobbycraft for £10 during a sale).

Either a New wolves codex or a digital one supplement for the 13th company. Or am I wrong?

The only, not necessarily accurate, info we have for August is some new Chaos/Daemon stuff.

We still have two weekends left of July, with no hint as what might be in the offing, so who knows?

I have a box reserved (1st of 8, I think), so I don't have any reason to get up on my high horse, but I am still frustrated with GW's management on this.

Moulds for plastic models can't be cheap (I know they have gotten cheaper), so why not sell more of the characters? If you have people who want to buy something, why not sell it to them? The huge markup on the resale market doesn't help GW any. That's particularly true with this box set, as all the other sprues could simply be boxed and sold as the regular kits, so there's markedly less risk than if you did a huge production run of some special sprue.

Second, it feels like GW would rather pat themselves on the back for selling out of something than sell more of it. Selling out of something doesn't indicate that it is a best seller. It indicates you didn't make enough. They act like sales are fantastic, because they run out of something. If I don't make enough hot dogs, I can run out of them too, even though they are questionable meat tubes on a bun!

It also seems like a total waste of a White Dwarf (hard to imagine, I know). What's the point of featuring something in White Dwarf if it sells out before most people have even gotten the magazine? If someone actually waited until their GW put the WD issue on sale, you'd probably already have lost the opportunity to buy it. I know this happened with the Void Shield Generators as well.

"Here's 20 pages of stuff on something you can't buy! Suck it, fans!"

GW is depending on the leaked images of their magazine to sell the stuff featured in the magazine. What's the benefit of actually producing the magazine at that point?

Ultimately, however, I am just really sad that it's another GW "refuse to sell to our customers" exercise. While all this 'exclusivity' (limited edition, webstore exclusive, Black Library Open Day, Forgeworld Open Day, etc) might increase demand, if that demand can't be satisfied through an actual purchase, it seems pointless. Make cool stuff your customers want to buy (like Grukk Face-rippa) and then sell it to them. Why is this hard?

The ONLY difference is that the Space Wolves include a transfer sheet just for Krom Dragongaze's Great Company.

Geez. I never would've guessed that something like this would have been THIS limited. I had planned on picking one up, but now it's sold out.

Seems kind of ridiculous actually. At least I really didn't miss out on much!

yea i assumed it was limited in the way dreadfleet was limited. But i guess it was a really big discount on the models' msrp so they cant sell it forever.

Hmm, interesting things. First I am surprised it sold out so fast. I too was considering it for my ork army (but was holding back since i don't so the Wolves.)
Second, I think I will also wait and ensure it is really full sprues and not some snap together kit.
Third, I hope GW takes the quick sell out as a sign that people want minis at a lower price. This appears to have been quite a savings, which was further enticing me to get one. I think if GW would actually lower prices, they would sell more. Hopefully this set illustrates that point.
It will be interesting to see the next Campaign set. Orks vs. Cadians would be perfect for me.
Thanks,
Duncan

And worst of all just reinforces the fact that going limited edition is the way to go so this trend will continue, and GW will learn nothing.

What you not happy about Dread Fleet and The Hobbit Limited Edition?

Again. It is most likely only sold out on the website, stores will still have them.

I'm really hoping that we see a second Sanctus Reach set. I want to see a model of the Cadian Castellan.

Also, not sure if it was mentioned but next week in White Dwarf "Urban Combat" and "Dark Vengeance".

I don't think it would be a campaign set, but I could see book 2 of Sanctus Reach having rules for Cityfight and then a second campaign set of Orks v. Cadians.

Especially because Cadians fortified a lot of Alaric Prime's cities and it would be a really cool thing. Plus, as mentioned, I really want that Castellan.

As someone who buys models for the joy of painting them, displaying them and gaming with them, I like my "limited editions" to be less limited than 1 day worth of preorders. I get little to no joy from being able to parade a model I have as something other people don't have simply because they weren't willing to throw money at GW the moment preorders went up.

All of the 40k and WHFB starter boxed sets are limited... they are limited to the edition they were released in. That's about as "limited" as I want it. Any more limited than that really seems to only benefit the ebay resellers.

Regarding Dread Fleet and The Hobbit... well, Dread Fleet I was out of the hobby when that came out so while I saw it, I didn't really pay attention to it. The Hobbit is simply terrible value, I have no idea what numbers they have made of the limited Hobbit set, it's irrelevant when it's such crappy value that no one buys it.

Well the book + novella are listed as "Sanctus Reach Volume 1", implying that there will be at least a "Volume 2".

why stop at 2, GW just found out how to make expensive DLC. make only 4-5k copies. offer a slight discount, 2 custom figures only in those boX!! + books. every 6 weeks like clockwork release a new one.

You'll note that it's me of all people celebrating this release. This isn't "DLC" like the data-sheets and WD bulls gak is. These are legitimate expansions. This is something GW should have been doing all along, only on a wider non-limited scale.

And slight discount? No... the price on this one is pretty good.
