There's looking out and then there's being reasonable. I guess they could have a lie detector at the counter...

Sorry but what reseller is going to buy direct from GW when you can get a discount online and several copies would generally push you into the free shipping offers most places have ? Only a fool pays the sticker price on GW product surely?

Unless its a fool who doesn't want their local GW shop to close. I suppose that is not an issue in Nottingham though!

I expect people willing to buy something purely for extracting cash out of their (presumably) fellow hobbyists that are also concerned with supporting their local FLGS are a rare breed indeed!

OTOH, just how much these have eBay value? Other than the HQ's (which aren't THAT unique), all the minis are standard sprues so they don't have the "OOP" factor once the box itself sells out. Ok I guess someone might get excited about the campaign book.

Yeah, it's entirely reasonable to expect a dedicated gamer to buy 3 for themselves. Limiting it to 1 would be overzealous.

$130 Retail
$104 After 20% discount
Ebay the Book $20-30
Ebay the Ork $20-30
Ebay the SW Guy $20-30
You could sell the rest of the miniatures starting at 50% off and still profit

On the Wargame trading group on Facebook several people already apparently got the set and already sold it on, one guy's total for the lot came to £130 which is a little crazy.

Not a reseller myself but I don't buy from GW stores as there is no reason to even here in Nottingham, they're glorified child daycare centers any time there is an event on and lifeless corporate places when not. When/if there is a FLGS worth supporting then I would buy from them , but until then I'll cheerfully buy online for 20% off and free posting.

Given GW's situation on the high street if I were one of their managers then I'd nit be restricting sales one bit, nor do I think I'd have to, it's more likely a half assed attempt at generating hype for sales.......

I can't stand gougers so when I sold the spare bits from my two sets I tried to price them fairly, I still made £120 selling two rule books, one campaign book, 1 Krom, 1 Grukk, 2 lots of 3 Kans. Means I paid a net of £15 for everything else so I was very happy, about 25p a model.

The Nobs I upgraded to flashgitz using snazzguns from a bits seller, the grots became ammo runts and oilers. The Space Wolves I'm leaving unbuilt until the new codex hits but I have a great starting point when you add in the battleforce I picked up.

I can understand selling stuff off and trying to make a little profit, IF, for example you only played Orks or Wolves and just didn't want the rest.

What I can't stand are the people that buy it purely to turn around and sell it again without even doing it to get something other than a profit on their cash on it. I've seen people like that at game stores who check in for limited edition or rare stuff in different games and they buy it just to turn around and sell it when the want for it goes up even though they don't play said game in the first place.

Apologies- I should've elaborated a bit more on my post. That's pretty much the point I was trying to make.

Of course, the point could be made that this is only made possible by GW's choice to only produce this stuff in limited quantities...

Well, that, and peoples' willingness to pay ridiculous amounts of money for hard-to-get stuff. Scalping only works so long as people are willing to pay the prices... and most of the time with the stuff that winds up on eBay, that price is set by the buyer, not the seller.

If people actually started saying 'You know what, I'm not prepared to pay more than the retail price for that' the practice would dry up fairly quickly.

The thing is given that the price of a GW plastic character at retail currently is £10-12 then the 2 limited character models going for anything from £15 to £25 each is not that bad, and it will only go up.

Ebay is weird though. Currently Wyrd are offering a limited Malifaux mercenary in crew box sets that retail at £27-30. I have seen the solitary limited model going for £20+ on ebay already. The thing is the model is in every crew box currently at retail, the people wanting the model would be better off paying the extra 7 quid and selling/swapping the stuff they do not want.

Stormclaw holds no interest for me, the new Dark Vengeance is an entirely different kettle of Orks.

Hey gang,

Just wanted to confirm with those that have it. The regular troops are all standard sprues with options and bits just like you bought the specific figures regular sets right? Still thinking about picking this up since there is a GW store nearby and I have an Ork Army.

Thanks,
Duncan

Exactly the same as the retail boxes for each of the sets although you get a smaller, different transfer sheet.

So should we adjourn to the Space Wolf thread and let this one die then? The SW thread has a good analysis of points changes that someone just did.
