So I've been working on these two armies for quite awhile but they've been side projects to my BL force but I think that its time these guys got the attention they deserve.
Angron
Epthon Krator Praetor of the 144th company of the World Eaters.
Spoiler:
When Angron was re-united with his legion Krator was centurion of the 7th centaury of the 144th, Krator was relatively young at the time having been promoted after leading a counter charge to prevent an armoured column breaking through an Imperial army siege line, his young age caused him to be fascinated with his new Primarch and caused him to emulate his new Primarch, however due to his low ranking and being a member of one of the later companies meant it would be some time before he received the butcher's nails. Within a year of Angron's appointment Krator's praetor was killed by a Dark Elders poisoned blade. It was announced that the his successor would not be chosen in the traditional manner but would instead be decided by a duel between all those who wished to put their name forward. Keen to impress his new Primarch, Krator put his name forward along with five others and in his final match beat Gaius Pheron commander of the first centaury who would have traditionally taken command of the company, this lead to Gaius and others within the company to resent Krator's command. As befitting his new rank Krator was offered the butcher's nails however he turned them down, when questioned on his decision he stated that they would '' affect his ability to command.''
The tension between Krator and Gaius continued to grow, until Gaius openly confronted Krator, after being ordered to lead an attack on a generator complex, while the rest of the company took part in an attack on the walls of the planet's capital city stating '' it's a waste of the first'' and that he was entering a formal complaint and that he wanted to meet his superior in the gladiatorial pits. However Gaius was killed during the assault on the complex, by a laser from one of the human population's neuro robots which punched through his helmet and took off his jaw and passed down hitting his spine, killing him almost instantly. When Angron heard of the first centurions death and his challenge to his commander he laughed and and awarded Krator Gaius' terminator armour and his paragon blade. After being awarded the armour Krator never again wore a helmet as he would always joke '' it never did Gaius any good.''
However as Angron's mental state began to deteriorate so too did his relationship with Captain Praetor Krator, Krator's refusal to have the butcher's nails installed led to he and his company being increasing left out of Angron's ''plans''. On the fields of Isstvan he proved his loyalty to his legion: on Isstvan III he killed three members of Andthon Geton commander of the 121st company's command squad and taking an arm from his fellow praetor before being pushed back by members of Geton's company. On Isstvan V he and his company massacred large swathes of Raven Guard and taking part in 92 day hunt for survivors which ensued.
By the time they forces of the Warmaster reached Terra Krator and his company had proven themselves loyal to Angron and the Warmaster, however Angron as fickle as he now was still didn't respect Krator and held him in reserve during the Battle for Terra until the end of the first week, when he called him in to take part in to take an Imperial Fist's defensive position. Even though Krator had remained in reserve, some of his men, mainly those whose minds had been most effected by the nails, had already descended to the surface and had been fighting since the initial assault.
Krator survived the battle for Terra and would go on to form a war band dedicated to Khorne, known as 'Terra's Bane' however would be killed during a Night Lord raid on his ship for equipment, his skin now adorns the land raider and armour of Night Lord commander Maechron Sreth 'The Peeler'.
Macro Huygan ' Krator's Shield' and Viktor Higuain 'Devourers Bain'
Spoiler:
Huygan got his name when he used a deserted Sons of Horus boarding shield to kill an ork nob which had knocked his then centurion to the ground, when Krator was promoted to the position of Captain Praetor he took Huygan into his command squad. Higuain had been carrying the 144th's banner since they were part of the Warhounds legion, he has earned his name by beating two of Angron's personal body guard in the gladiatorial pits. Like their Praetor none of his command squad had the nails implanted, in fact Krator's company had a relatively low number of marines with the nails, with only 61% having them implanted. Huygan was killed on his first day of the battle for Terra by a champion of the Imperial Fists. Higuain survived the battle, however it was the last time he served under Krator, he lost the companies banner to an Imperial Fist cutting off his arm and refused to ever serve with the 144th again, he was killed on the world of Skalathrax by the marine formally known as Kharn the Bloody.
Tactical Squad Duran
Praetor Nathaniel Meshall Commander of the 49th Company of the Imperial Fists
Spoiler:
Meshall was one of the original members of the Imperial Fists and started out as a member in a heavy support squad of the 4th centaury in the 49th, after twelve years of service he was promoted to sergeant when his own was killed by a member of a xenos race called the Shalan ignited his auto cannon ammunition which blew the sergeant in half. After thirty years of commanding his squad he was promoted to the position of Prefect of the 49th putting him responsible of all the heavy support squads in the company.
He was promoted to the position of Captain Praetor on the world of Isha, an Ork held world which was a prime world for colonisation. The 27th, 33rd, 49th, 52nd and 101st were tasked with wiping the orks off of the world along with the help of 30 Imperial Army regiments within 4 months two of the planets three continents had been liberated when the landing site on the final continent had been secured the 27th and 49th were sent out to begin clearing the land along with the 12th and 13th Vostroyan assault regiment. On the 3rd day of the advance they came under attack from a large ork force approximately 20,000 strong they attempted to fall back in good order however a force of orks had taken one of the hill on their left hand flank and was pouring large amounts of ordnance on to the army regiments causing them to slow down their withdrawal. Meshall lead the companies heavy support contingent in an assault against the ork held hill and once there provided covering fire for the withdrawal of the 49th and 27th along with the remnants of the army regiments. Meshall survived the battle of Terra however had to have bionic legs attached after his own were lost to a red butcher of the World Eaters. He would go on to fight in many more battles until he was killed in action during the battle of the Iron cage where he was killed by an Iron Warrior cutting his throat.
Champion of the 49th Esmar Glaber and Signal Master Vespasian Manus
Spoiler:
Both warriors served with distinction on the battle for Terra with both receiving statues in the Phalanx. Glaber is recorded as having killed 4 senior World Eaters, 1 Emperors Children champion, 2 senior Irons Warriors and 6 Senior Sons of Horus along with countless other legion astartes. Manus was integral in ensuring that the companies assigned artillery was used to it full capabilities. Both were killed in during the battle. It is believed Glaber was killed by the Traitor Primarch Angron due to the grievous wounds wrought upon his body and it is believed that Manus was killed by a titan due to no body being found and a large contingent of titans being reported in his last known location.
Terminator Squad Vetas- Alpha section.
Former Centurion Crastus Plateus
Spoiler:
Plateus' centaury was assigned to Sigismund for the battle on Mars, however while there he received an almost fatal wound which severed his spine and also had half his face melted by acid, however he was kept alive Apothecary Grantus. Desperate for men and with the supplies taken from Mars, Plateus was installed into one of the new Contemptor pattern dreadnaughts. Plateus survived the battle, however as time went on he began to degenerate at an alarming rate and he had to be permanently shut down just two years later.

The promised reinforcements:
Malcador
Legion Mk II armour
Lascannon set
Mk IV heavy weapon squad
Chain Axes
Contemptor body
Malcador Battle tank '' Dorn's Vengeance'' formally '' Angron's Roar''
Spoiler:
''Angron's Roar'', so named as it was commented by a Centurion that it's battle cannon sounded like Angron, while making it first front line appearance alongside the WE on the world of Cathlock. It had gone through seven crew between then and the battle of Terra, with only Brother Jeffron (the driver, still remaining from the original crew), upon hearing of the WE treachery, it's commander Brother Alexis Hantor decided to rename it ''Dorn's Vengeance''.
''Dorn's Vengeance'' fought in a Tactical Replacement role at the battle of Terra, replacing IF units when they needed to be withdrawn form the line, it was also key in repelling three major WE breakthroughs. ''Dorn's Vengeance'' only lost one crew member during the battle; Brother Hethlon, who was killed by sniper fire while re-fuelling.
The tank and all crew, except for Brother Hantor, were killed three years later when the Cruiser they were travel on was destroyed by an Ork ship in the Kaguas Belt, Hantor survived as he was on the Battle Barge '' Blood of Phall'' being briefed on an assault on a world which had rebelled alongside Horus.
Hantor was given command of a Predator squadron, and died seventy three years later fighting the Death Guard on the world of Detron. He was killed by a misfiring Imperial Guard mortar.
Rampager Squad Gama- 144th Comapny
Spoiler:
At the time of the Battle for Terra, Gama was made up of elements from 7 different squads and was 29 men strong. They descended to the surface as part of the first wave, ignoring Krator's command, they lost eight men on the first day after a rhino they had ' commandeered' from the Sons of Horus was hit by a missile. By the time the rest of the company had descended, Gama was down to ten men. With the last member being killed by massed bolter fire from a Blood Angels tactical squad on the last day of the battle.
Really like the back stories to each unit.... really helps to bring them to life.....
The Malcador is really nice too.... i just finished a scratchbuild one and have to admit IMHO they look great with a lot of dirt and heavy weathering...... also thats a really nice Yellow!
Hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it, suppose it we're one character closer to Dorn . Thanks for the kind words it's the comments which help to keep you motivated.

Nekral originates from the world of Lazeta, a world in a state of near constant war with the people of the Jetat being the supreme culture, they had conquered a 1/3 of the planet and demanded tithes from those they had conquered. Nekral was owned by a family of the Jetat as a trainee gladiator. When the World Eaters arrived at the world with their newly found Primarch and demanded it's compliance, the people of the Jetat agreed aslong as the World Eaters would aid them in conquering the world. Upon agreement the people of the Jetat insisted that Angron come and visit their capital city. Angron yet to fully be consumed by the nails agreed and as was the way of the Jetat they held a games the likes of which they had never seen before for the coming of the Emperor's son.
Angron arrived and as was befitting of his title he was given a place of honour in the pulvinus, though the actual facts of what happened next aren't known, it's clear that Angron left the arena in a storm of anger. What ever happened, within the hour World Eater drop pods were descending toward the surface with orders to leave only those bond in chains alive. The genocide of the world of Lazeta left 80,000,000 dead and approximately 500,000 freed slaves. All those freed were offered the choice of either helping in the colonisation of their world or joining the 12th legion, Nekral like many of his fellow gladiators chose to join the legion.
Upon ascension to the rank of Battle Brother, Nekral was assigned to assault squad Detmul of the 3rd centaury. After his first battle on the world of Alesta, Nekral challenged Benjal Thakron 'The Dead One' (so named for his unusually pale skin) and member of the newly appointed Epthon Krator's command squad, to a gladiatorial bout, as the challenged it was Benjal's right to choose the weapons to be used, looking at his skinner than average 'brother' he chose the Cestus. Nekral lasted longer than any of those watching or indeed Benjal would have expected, it was in the 17th round, that Nekral won the victory he would be most known for. Benjal lost his footing and before he could right himself fully, Nekral flung himself at Benjal and took him to the ground. Once on top of his opponent Nekral gouged out Benjal's eyes and when he screamed out in pain he ripped off Benjal's jaw. Nekral had earned his place in his Praetor's command squad however just like his Praetor many looked upon him with scorn.
Nekral spent long periods of time apart from his Praetor on Terra, as he was assigned to ensure that his Praetors orders were carried out by the increasingly sporadic World Eaters. Nekral spent a lot of time fighting with the 2nd centaury against the Imperial Fists . He was grievously wounded on the 37th day after leading a force made up of the 2nd and 3rd centaury against an Imperial Fist held section of the wall which had been brought down by Sons of Horus vindicators, believing they would only be facing light resistance they advanced without caution however waiting for them was a dozen Heavy Bolter rapiers. Of the 120 men who attacked only 67 were able to fall back, Neckral was dragged back by Brother Sargent Duran of the 3rd centaury, unable to walk back after he was hit by three heavy bolter rounds. He was interred into a dreadnaught and was able to re-join his company on the 53rd day of the battle. He would eventually end up fighting under the Black Legion as a member of a World Eater war band created from the remnants of the 89th company.
Thanks

never in the field of human conflict, has so much been fired at so many, by so few.
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions. Loyal servant to the true emperor Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
Please leave your message after the tone...
Again... lovely work... and those back stories are great....... Truely brutal in the case of "The Un-Bowed"... but nothing short of what you would expect with the WE!!

So it's been a while, I've been having laptop problem and generally haven't really been able to get motivated to paint, yesterday I sat myself down and got started on the WE assault squad from a while ago.
Brothers Jepral, Gretam and Ventoch of Assault Squad Daizus
Spoiler:
Ventoch landed in the trench, crushing a member of the Terran PDF beneath him and lashing out at another with his chain sword his golden armour peeling away like paper the man dropped screaming as slid down the trench wall looking at what remained of his right arm, he looked around, at his home world, 150 years and this was where he ended up, some of these men may even be relatives of his, but none on them were his brothers.
The troops in the trenches hadn't expected an assault from the skies, no sane commander would attempt to use aircraft, not with all the anti-air guns situated just half a mile behind the trenches, then again the World Eaters weren't exactly sane. Gretam landed beside him clubbing a commander to death with his bolt pistol, the women dropped to the blood soaked ground her entire body shaking as she re-coiled from the shocking blow that had just been dealt to her, cutting a vox-caster operator in half with a diagonal slash of his sword at the same time, his weapon changing in pitch as it went through the man, who had no time to feel any pain from the horrendous wound and crushing another against the trench wall with his jump pack, his red face plate masking the sheet of blood spraying all over him, he had won it fighting Ork on liberating the world of Jota III.
Jepral landed on top of a concrete bunker smashing through where he the storm eagles front mounted melta guns had weakened the structure, he couldn't heat above the noise around him but he knew the men inside would be screaming, about 30 seconds later the auto-cannons it housed stopped firing, just beneath it two tactical squad broke from cover gunning their chain weapons just before they reached the trench, the men in it would never know happiness again.
So it's been quite a while since I've posted in this thread mainly due to the fact that I've been away from home since Christmas. So to start us back off....
Creploch Žvėris 'The Bitter'
Spoiler:
Creploch Žvėris was recruited into the War Hounds legion form the agri world Jeffranol, 70 years before the discovery of the primarch Angron. Inducted into a Tactical Squad in the 7th Century of the 144th, like many within the legio astartes Žvėris had an un-memorable career, the highlight being awarded the title of veteran due to his squads action in the compliance of Nine-Fifty-Thirty Nine. Žvėris‘s squad was part of a raiding party which destroyed the world‘s polar power stations, without which the worlds hive cities could not support the void shields protecting them from the World Eaters battleships. It was mere years after this that the fleet received a transmission through the warp they had been waiting years to hear. The primarch had been found!
Even before the discovery of their primarch, the World Eaters were a legion renowned for their love of battle and unlike many legions did not immediately abandon their duties to return to the primarch. At the time of the messages arrival the Worlds Eaters of the 950th expeditionary fleet were in the final stages of clearing the ork infested world of Dotre. It was on this world that Žvėris would meet his first end and how he would earn the title he would be known as for 4,000 years.
While his squad was clearing out an ork shanty town Žvėris was cut near in half by an Ork boy wielding a shoota at close range, all but dead Žvėris was dragged back to the fleets flag ship was given another chance to serve in the armies of the Emperor by the legions apothacaries. However not only was Žvėris physically wounded he was also mentally scared, being brought so close to death by a ‘lowly‘ ork boy just as his primarch had been found, had greatly shamed the veteran causing him to become increasingly bitter, as those around him had the nails hammered into their head‘s, bringing them he believed closer to the primarch than he could ever be. It was from this bitterness that the tradition of Žvėris killing an ork and mounting it‘s head in a spike before each battle was born.
Žvėris and the rest of his talon largely fought independently of the 144th during the battle on Terra. With records complied after the battle suggesting that he saw service with the the Sons of Horus, Word Bearers, Iron Warriors and 17 other companies of the World Eaters legion. It wasn‘t until the the 40th day of the battle that Žvėris re-joined his company. Žvėris continued to fight alongside his company for 9 days until his sarcophagus was severely damaged by a melta bomb from an Imperial Fists assault squad, though before they could fall back Žvėris managed to kill four of the retreating assault squad including its sergeant. Due to the chaotic nature of the landing zones the traitors had captured Žvėris‘s mangled form was not returned to the 144th battle barge but instead ended up on a ship of the 89th company. He continued to fight alongside the remnants of the 89th until M.35 when he was killed during a siege between two warring Iron Warrior grand companies during which he and the rest of the Khorne war band known as ‘The Bloodless‘ were fighting alongside the attacking forces, after a defence wall was collapsed on top of him.
Until next time.
